Captivating and raw, Cheyenne Bluett takes the reader along her healing journey. From experiencing the childhood abuse all the way to her real-time healing, this book will help you realize you deserve better and you too can heal your deepest wounds. Don't forget, dear reader, you have been Magic All Along.
For my first ever ARC, Cheyenne Bluett was kind enough to let me read her beautiful poetry collection Magic All Along. I never expected to relate so deeply with her experiences, but I did and I think it healed me a bit too 💞
Magic All Along features poems that deal with themes of emotional and physical (child) abuse, trauma, recovery and healing. The writer has developed these core believes about herself: that she is responsible for other people’s emotions, that she’s not allowed to have/show any, that she is guilty of just about everything.
I have so much admiration for Cheyenne sharing her journey of unlearning self hate and building self love, brick by agonizing brick, so that is readers can find some comfort in the shared experience. Some poems are hard to read though, so make sure to check trigger warnings if you struggle with the themes I mentioned above!
Magic All Along is a poetry book I know I’ll return to often. I’m just so fascinated someone on the other side of the world could write about my thoughts and feelings so accurately, with so much pain and yet so much grace.
Such a stunning and emotional book detailing the realisations it take us usually until our mid-20s (or later!) to have. Even if what you’ve been through isn’t similar, there certainly will be parts you relate to, and everything is written beautifully! Adore it.
Cheyenne is probably one of the most underrated poets I've ever read.
She writes truths and expresses it in so many beautiful ways, and despite all the poetry I've read not one has lined upto her caliber of penmanship.
This book is one exploring inner child healing, and while 'the moon sends her love' is still my absolute favorite? This was stunning. Gut wrenching, heartbreakingly realistic on what it's like to have a broken relationship with your family and the conflicting emotions on to heal it or to move on from it. It expresses early childhood and the affects family life can have on yourself as an adult and furthers the idea of nurturing and healing your inner child!
These books deserve to be on shelves everywhere, carried in bags when you need a reminder that someone else has been through the same and it'll be okay, chey is just an angel and we love her!!
This book will break your heart and then mend it by the time you finish. Every poem is raw and has so much meaning. You may not be able to relate to all of them, but you’re bound to find something relatable within these pages. This collection is so genuine and so incredibly well written! I know for a fact I’ll be going back to read this multiple times.
This book made me forget I was even reading in the first place. I felt like being on a rollercoaster ride, going through my own childhood. It hit home with me and it cost me loads of tears. The best way to describe this book is by saying that it felt like a warm hug around a broken heart. Like drinking a hot tea after being soaked by the rain. Poetry book about childhood, abuse, moving on, healing, forgiveness, strength, self love, finding yourself and new chances. This book is going to break your heart and then make it whole again. It’s definitely a must read for everyone who struggled with painful childhood.
