Baba Yaga has long planned her revenge against the Dark One. Ever since he murdered her family when she was a child she has been consumed by her quest to destroy him. Now with Belinda at her side she has begun to gather the pieces to put her plan for vengeance in motion and the next piece lies not in our time but far in the past with one of the world's most famous adventurers - an adventurer that goes by the name of Sinbad! Unfortunately, Sinbad's crew has been transformed into zombies by a voodoo priestess who plans to reunite the captain with his crew to help her carry out a special quest, and she'll take him alive - or dead! This special crossover ties together two of Zenescopes most popular series in Grimm Fairy Tales and 1001 Arabian Nights.

I was surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. As a librarian I know that we are supposed to go into a book with an open mind. Although, as a reader I know what I like and the pirates and sea ferring theme is not one of my favorites. To really appreciate the pirate theme I would need to channel my inner pirate with some rum and diet pepsi. However, with this fast paced story and solid art work no amount of pirate alcohol is needed.

There is a tacked on story at the end of the book that leads into another trade paperback series. Hmm, maybe I'll need to search the high seas or used books stores for the next one.

This one has a pretty good story, and since it is mostly men, less fan service, though any woman even briefly pictured is FAN SERVICE, yes that blaringly.
The last issue, which is not a crossover with Grimm Fairy Tales, has extremely different art, which I found rather jarring.
As with most Zenoscopes, I don't recommend buying. So far, I have been lucky to get them all from the library.

I'm changing my review from 3 stars to 4 stars since I now know why this felt odd to read when I first got it. I was a new fan of Zenescope at the time, and still somewhat new to reading comics, and had no idea there would be other issues with different titles that are also part of the main story. I also didn't realize this would be published at different points either, so that also threw me for a loop. But this story picks up Grim Fairy Tales #45 leaves off with Belinda and Baba Yaga going after a gem they need for the upcoming battle. And it just so happens it takes place in the past with Sinbad and one version of his crew.

It's definitely a story that helps fill in points that come up later on in the mainline story that could cause confusion - I know it did for me. So I'm now glad I have all the books together so I can read the parts I'm missing and fill in the missing gaps.

The weakest of the Grimm Fairy Tales trades and of the Sinbad trades. I found the storytelling was not very well paced, the art was confusing at times and the dialogue choices were weak. That being said, the book still held my interest because the underlying plot was well crafted and there was some attempts at character development in explaining Sinbad's motivations in the new series.

I'm also not crazy about the inclusion of Sinbad 1 since I have that trade as well as, I think but am not sure, other trades that include it as a bonus. I would rather had some original material like a character design or script as a bonus.
