Our hero, George Basdakis, is a likable young man who was born on the Gulf Coast to Greek parents; but with a defective moral compass. Throughout the novel, he finds himself skirting the law, sometimes slipping over the legal edge. Capping his time as a Navy Lieutenant, private investigator, and smuggler of cars and people, he finds himself in self-imposed exile on Corfu, smuggling antique Greek artifacts when he and his cousin are drawn into a confrontation with Turkish authorities.
