At one time or another we all have experienced an event or moment where we questioned reality. A time when we could feel our skin crawl and our hairs raise. In, What Lurks Beyond, Volume 3, Ethan Hayes, author of the bestselling series, Encounters in the Woods, brings us true tales and stories told from the experiencers themselves. These are people that have come face to face with something beyond imagination, something awful, something surreal and even evil. They survived these experiences but they will never be the same. From spirits to cryptids like Bigfoot; What Lurks Beyond, has stories which detail the worst imaginable things that hide in the shadows and around the corner. So if you're ready to be see what lurks beyond, we suggest you deadbolt the door and close the blinds before you dive into the pages ahead...just to be safe.
This is one of a series of books on odd things that happen. The stories themselves are almost all interesting plus they happen to give clues to better understand the behavior of cryptids.
There's ten stories in this volume. One of the things that stands out is how often the stories involve a person having a strong feeling of being watched by something. Another theme that runs through a lot of stories in these books is about people going into a wooded area planning to camp out and not bringing any weapons with them at all except maybe a pocket knife.
Bigfoot and other beings are not the only things in a forest to be concerned about. Depending on what part of the country you are in there are various totally natural wild animals that can attack and even kill an unarmed human being.
One story involves someone hearing a voice in the forest calling her name. Then there's a story involving shadow people (and a person that totally ignores a no trespassing sign).
Another story involves white-eyed kids and a UFO both. Another Bigfoot story shows another recurring theme and that is the ability of Bigfoot to communicate with each other, apparently by hitting trees with thick branches.
Also, this type of story involves another theme and that is that the Bigfoot creature is very territorial and does not like humans getting onto 'it's property.
There's also a very unusual story which seems to clearly involve two young boys running into some kind of parallel reality version of themselves.
There's another Bigfoot story, another UFO story (which involves a ray gun), a shadow beings story, one on black-eyed kids and one on a being with no face.
It's a good variety of stories that apparently are factual.
This is a new series from the Encounters in the Woods series. Whereas the Encounters series is more about cryptids (I hope he keeps publishing those), this series is more about the paranormal and unexplained phenomena. You can be sure of some strange events. Truth is stranger than fiction. Looking forward to book number 2.
