I'm really invested in this series, I'm liking most of the characters and the plot has been okay so far

Short filler volume

Not really much happened in this volume. Couple new faces, potential intrigue at best. They don't even wrap up the last volume's cliffhanger endings in a satisfactory way, just handwaved. You could almost skip this volume and go straight to #4.

Oh, unless you are here for the multiple page fan service of Garnet in the bath... Which I could have done without. Made for weird visuals matching with the dark backstory dump.

Establishing something to loose so that he is forced to defend it. More people from his past come to help out in the town and the shop. More background.

I like the story but the exaggerated drawings of women with impossible size breasts is neither artistic or conducive to an otherwise good story. It is gratuitous and distracting from the rest of the visualization of the story.
