In a frozen land where magic is outlawed, the trees are suddenly burning magenta.
Once a proud, cohesive society, the valravn world has been split into the Onyx Court and the Obsidian Court. To keep their morals intact, the Onyx Court has banished the use of magic in their land. But when delegates from the Obsidian Court show up unannounced, bringing outlawed magic with them, the Onyx Court must admit that their world has begun to fall apart. From a giant sinkhole that is swallowing their city to the peaceful zikkus that are falling dead throughout the court, things are going bad. Now the trees are lit with magenta flames signaling that the Eldritch Trials are beginning again.
The only female king in valravn history, Syere is determined to remove the Obsidian delegates from her land, along with their illegal magic. Letting them seize control would be admitting failure, and failure doesn’t exist in her world. As a strong leader, she can handle it all including finding the best champion for the Trials. The only thing is…. the last four champions never returned home from the Trials.
Ever.
When the Obsidian Court insists that Syere must undertake the trials herself, USING magic, or else the Onyx Court will be absorbed by their rule, she has little choice.

I love this author and the magic she creates with her pen. This story was amazing. I enjoyed reading it and was on the edge of my seat wondering what could possibly come next. Great job Kish Knight you have done it once again.
I feel like this was a series of unfortunate events. My girl Sy couldn't catch a break. This book left me wanting more though. Like is she ok health wise. Will her and her mentor end up together, what was the reason for the other 4 chapmions demise. I feel incomplete but at the same time I absolutely loved this story.

As a whole, this book focuses on world building, creating a whole new realm of characters, creatures, magical elements, and locations where the action takes place. At the beginning, the main character comes off slightly arrogant and unwilling to listen to outsiders who are just trying to help. As the story progresses, Seyere, undergoes a humbling character development journey. The story focuses so much on the action and problem solving of the storyline that it overshadows some character relations, leaving the reader wanting more. The reader will definitely be on the edge of their seat with the fast paced storyline and inventive fantasy world building.

This book was a refreshing dive into a fantasy world where we learn that the old way is not always the best way. The characters are headstrong and you find yourself rooting for their evolution throughout the book. The action picks up in a way that makes it difficult to put the book down. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy mixed with a bit of wisdom that can be applied to life in general. Overall a good read!.

I've never wanted to tussle with a FMC some much in my entire book reading life. For the first half part of the she very much had a mega superiority complex, which took away from her strong leadership abilities. As she trained for the trials, you could start to see the shift for the better in thought process and personality. By the end of the book, she truly cared for and wanted the best for all under her rule.
This book was amazing! It was different from the first book, but followed the trials about the same. There were some great surprises and the usual action, adventure and romance that I adore - not to mention my favorite, the shifters, Far and just about any other fantasy character! Pick it up, you will be entertained!.
I so enjoyed this story. It is with great pleasure that I say well done. It flowed well, I identified with your characters, Sierra was awesome. Her lessons were well learned and it was wonderful to see her bring the two halves of the kingdom back together. Thank you!😃
I really enjoyed the first book I read in the Eldritch Trials series. However, this one just didn’t grab me the same way. Maybe it was just not the right time for me to read it. I’m interested in picking it back up and trying again.

From the beginning, Kish had me hooked. I was fully immersed in a culture with a language of it's own. You're in for a ride with this one. I want more, whether it's about Syere or another character that needs a voice. It's a page turner you won't want to put down! Trust me!.
