When the Hasking Stone shines in the Blackfoot territory, the wehr alpha sets out to find a champion. In a deadly hunt one is chosen, only to be set loose on the pack to sate his bloodlust. In an attempt to protect a wehr pup Rel kills him. For her punishment she is instead sent to Elderton to participate in the Eldritch trials or her adoptive mother will be killed. But while Rel knows so little of her past, the Mother Goddess knows all and the truths Rel will face have the potential to devastate her. Is she strong enough or will she cause the pack to suffer under the 100 year curse?

I am a little torn about how I feel about this book. I found the ending very unsatisfying. EM Lacey states at the end that an extended ending is coming out later as a separate part, but I think it should have just been added. The ending was such an abrupt stop without so much being resolved that it kind of spoiled things for me. Which sucked cause I enjoyed the book until the last chapter. Portraying the werewolves as giving into their more feral sides gave this book a more dangerous feel that I liked. Can't wait to see how the novella ends the story.

Song of Sin is part of the Eldritch Trials, a series set in the World of Eldritch and written by eight authors.

In this installment, E. M. Lacey presents us to the Blacktooth pack, part of a werewolf race, whose Alpha Leader has turned on itself. With the pack left without a champion, Rel must face the Eldrich Trials in the House of Testing.

Overall, the book does a good job of introducing the reader to the Blacktooth pack and their dynamics and presenting Rel's story as a champion who must face devastating truths about herself, her family, and what the pack that has always treated her as an outsider is to her.

I enjoyed Rel as a protagonist and the action in the story, but I found it a bit confusing to follow at some points and the ending felt rather abrupt. Some typos also disrupted the reading flow, but it remained understandable.

It's a recommended read for fans of fantasy and mythical creatures, not just werewolves.
