Pepper Reign is still reeling from the consequences of having her goodness stolen by Wells Morgan—and the results were so bad that cousin Amelia isn’t speaking to her. Determined to reclaim what was taken, Pepper, Axel, and Betty confront Wells about the theft.
But he’s dead—stone cold dead.
Not only did the man leave a menagerie of dragons, but he also left a house full of suspects—a trophy wife, an adult son, and two apprentices.
Turns out, not only does Pepper need to find her goodness before she spirals into darkness, but she and her family must also uncover Wells’s killer.
In fact, they’ve been charged with that job—and are supposed to stay at the mansion until the murderer is named.
But there are distractions—finding her goodness and acquiring a dragon’s gift. Wait. What? A gift from a dragon? Apparently her dragon Hugo can bestow her with a magical gift. But what is it? And can she receive it before the murderer strikes again?
Because she, Axel, and Betty are stuck in a house with a killer and there are no guarantees that murder is off the table. Can Pepper find the killer before he or she strikes again? Or will she lose not only her goodness, but the most valuable essence of all—her life?

Hey, I’m Amy, I write books for folks who crave laugh-out-loud paranormal mysteries. I help bring humor into readers’ lives. I’ve got a Pharm D in pharmacy, a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Life. And when I’m not writing or chasing around two small children (one of which is four going on thirteen), I can be found antique shopping for a great deal, getting my roots touched up (because that’s an every four week job) and figuring out when I can get back to Disney World. If you’re dying to know more about my wacky life, here are three things you don’t know about me. —In college I spent a semester at Marvel Comics working in the X-Men office. —I worked at Carnegie Hall. —I grew up in a barbecue restaurant—literally. My parents owned one. If you want to reach out to me—and I love to hear from readers—you can email me at amyboylesauthor@gmail.com. Happy reading!
I thought this was the end of the series, I’m so happy it’s not. This book was interesting. I’m so happy Wells got what he deserved. The only beings he seemed to treat with any sort of respect were dragons. He was an awful person. This author always has new characters in her books, the one in the pond was very interesting. I’m happy there is another book coming. I love these characters.

A real who-done-it with a long list of potential suspects, twists involving the dragons and Pepper about getting herself killed in multiple ways. Great read that you won't want to put down!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, who doesn't love a story marginalised dragons, witches, murder, and romance?
So, Magnolia Grove has new residents. I wonder how the town's folk will welcome these new additions. Plus, Cordelia and her guys have a massive surprise. I really cannot wait to read the next book in this awesome series.
Love Amy Boyles! And Sweet Tea Witch Mysteries series is great!! I was looking forward to reading all 28 books this Summer, and what the heck, #28 doesn't come out until Sept. 22nd! I'm so disappointed. But will wait. I waited for the Withering Storm for months, I can do that now too. Starting on the Seven Suitors for Seven Witches series now.
This book kept me guessing until the end! I really loved the plot twists, fun dragons, and flirty interactions with Pepper and Axel. I can't wait for Book 28!!
