With this 'A' author, I wrap up my Z-A by author's last name - Whew! This book is exactly like you remember it (or imagine it to be) - short little anecdotes summarized by a one sentence moral. Including all the stories you forgot keeps it pleasantly nostalgic ('Tortoise and the Hare', 'City Mouse & Country Mouse', 'Fox and the [Sour] Grapes', etc). Pleasant, quick and easy to read, and thoughtful - there's a reason this book has lasted over 2000 years.
PROS: Most of these fables are only a couple of sentences or at most 2 or 3 paragraphs and don't relate to anything (including each other), so this book can be read quickly, as a side book, during commercials, etc.; clever and to the point; The stories (and morals - "If you want a task well done, do it yourself", "Necessity is the mother of invention", etc.) that everyone knows but isn't sure where they heard them are all probably here.
CONS: Not all the morals translate to today ('Avoid too powerful neighbors', etc.); Many of these stories are - unsurprisingly - tragic; Due to the nature of the book most of these are not engrossing at all; honestly, I kinda want more!
