I’m being sold to my father’s biggest creditor to pay off his debts. Why the heck did I agree to such a thing? Because they promised to spare my sister, and I made a deathbed promise to my mom to always keep her safe. So, I’m resigned to my fate. As long as I get to spend one last weekend at my late Grandma Jo’s little mountain cabin—the place where I felt closer to my dreams than I’ll ever be again. Four days of peace and solitude, before my life is no longer mine. Then Jaxton Faulkner shows up. Raw, half-naked, eyes on fire. I've never seen him before, but he seems to be obsessed with me. He insists that we belong together. That he'll protect me from everyone and everything. But when we get snowed in by the blizzard, and it’s just him and me in this cozy little cabin, will the truth send him running like hell— Or will he go full on grizzly, and destroy anything that stands in his way?
This is a steamy insta-love romance, featuring an obsessed, possessive hero. If you love forced-proximity stories with all the cozy, wintry, roaring-fire feels, you’ll love Jaxton and Rowan's story!
Tons of heat, dirty talk and a sweet HEA, of course!
USA Today bestselling author Ariana Hawkes writes spicy romantic stories with lovable characters, plenty of suspense, and a whole lot of laughs. She told her first story at the age of four, and has been writing ever since, for both work and pleasure. She lives in Massachusetts with her husband and two huskies.
I love this authors writing style, she can write an engaging story with plenty of heat and feelz, and obsessed, OTT hero’s and the sweet, innocent heroines who tame them. and this one had all that, but the ending fell flat for me. The epilogue wasn’t that far out and there were no babies. Hopefully the next one will be better.
Safe. Dual virgins. No others, no cheating, no sharing or abuse. HEA but only a few months out. Unsatisfactory ending.
The story is well written, characters are believable and the book was hard to put down until the end.I would recommend this story to all my family and friends. It was that awesome. Have a fabulous time reading this story. When I started reading this story it was like I was there in the story.

This is another great short story from Ariana Hawkes. The fast pace and loveable characters, the so enjoyable story you fall into almost like you've fallen into the story yourself. I love her books. This one was just another perfect read in my books😀
Another great story. this author writes fast paced stories, even though is Insta love-fated mates, you still feel the chemistry between these two. I love how he had seen her before years earlier. That was a great little twist and that be had been waiting for her to return knowing she was his mate.
Jaxton was the greatest boyfriend. So attentive and he just so happy she finally returned.
It's short and has a pretty good plot, but it's a little confusing because of the timeline and inconsistencies, the dad is supposed to be rich but her car is junk, she cooks all the time at home but can't make pancakes.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5 stars) Snowed In With the Grizzly is a quick and enjoyable paranormal romance that hits all the familiar beats of insta-love, fated mates, and a bear shifter hero, but it doesn’t quite go beyond the surface. Rowan is stuck in a tough spot—she’s about to be forced into a marriage with a man she doesn’t love in order to save her father from debt, but before she ties the knot, she decides to take a trip to her grandmother’s old cabin in the mountains. It’s there she crosses paths with Jaxton, a bear shifter who has known for years that she’s his mate.
The premise of the story is solid and full of potential. Rowan’s selflessness in wanting to protect her younger sister adds some emotional depth, and her relationship with Jaxton develops quickly, as is often the case in short stories. I liked that Rowan was curious and accepting of the supernatural world, especially when she encounters Jaxton in his bear form. It adds a nice layer of intrigue and makes her character more adaptable than some heroines who are too hesitant to accept the truth about shifters.
Jaxton, on the other hand, while strong and protective, felt a little underdeveloped. The book spends more time on Rowan’s backstory, which I appreciated, but Jaxton’s character leaves a lot of unanswered questions. We’re told he’s been waiting for years to claim Rowan as his mate, but we don’t get much more about his past or struggles. His transformation from a “wild” bear to a more human-like shifter could have been explored in greater detail to make him more compelling.
The writing style was easy to read and kept the story moving quickly. There are a few typos here and there, but they didn’t disrupt the flow much. The pacing of the romance is rapid, as expected in shorter stories, but it does feel like the plot could have benefited from a bit more detail. While the insta-love trope can be fun, I would have liked to see more of the emotional buildup between the characters rather than a sudden, all-consuming connection.
The ending is satisfying enough with a clear happily-ever-after (HEA), though it wraps up very quickly. The epilogue gives us a glimpse into the characters' near future, where everything seems to fall into place—Rowan is with Jaxton, and her sister is safe.
Overall, this is a sweet, light read that delivers a quick paranormal romance with a bear shifter twist. It’s enjoyable for fans of fated mates and shifter romance, but it doesn’t offer much in terms of depth or character development. If you’re looking for a fast-paced, no-frills romance, this could be a fun read, but don’t expect a lot of world-building or complex emotional arcs.
I found it a bit stupid with the way she presented Jaxton as a shifter, basically making him seem like a mindless beast the first time he saw her, and then the whole he got himself together by joining a special program with the military to become civilized since he was just a savage beast. I mean, I'd get it more if he found his mate and went insane when she left or something but the whole starting out as a bear with barely any humanity is... well it wasn't fantastic in any case.
And oh my god could Rowan be anymore useless? She sounds like a prissy princess who doesn't know what the real world is like, and yet her younger sister has more of a spark in her little pinkie. It's too bad Charlie wasn't the FMC because I liked her a whole lot better than this knock off Disney princess who is about as dumb as they get.
Also after Jaxton finds out the truth about her and why she's there he's basically ok with giving her 3 of the best days of her life. Really? Of course this shifter is only wanting sex, mates be damned. Why can't I find a good shifter book that's actually about more than sex?
I think I'm also getting tired of all these books where the MMC talks about the FMC in such a flattering light, talking about how brave or strong she is, etc but when you read anything from her point of view it doesn't reflect what the MMC is seeing in her. I don't need a male POV to tell me how I should see her if the rest of the story doesn't show it.
Lastly the book felt long for being so short and repetitive to boot. Maybe it was because I didn't really like Rowan or her whining, etc that made it harder to get into and read, I'm not sure but it wasn't really all that pleasant. This is the second book I've read from this author and I'm not sure if I'll get anymore unfortunately.

This was my first time reading this author. It was ok. If you’re looking for something quick to read, this might be just for you.
Rowan is taking one last mini vacation before she’s to start a new life with the man her father has given her to. Her beloved grandmother’s cabin high in the mountains, is just what she needs. What she finds is not the warm, comfortable home, but a shell of what it used to be. Falling down and in disrepair. Jaxton has been waiting for Rowan to return to the mountain. He knew from the moment he saw her many years earlier, she was his mate. But he had to get control of his bear and learn how to be human again. Now she’s returned, and he’s going to claim what’s his. I liked what I read of both characters. You do get more background on Rowan than Jaxton. Lots of unanswered questions about him. I liked that Rowan was willing to sacrifice herself to save her younger sister. All in all, not a bad story. I liked the writing style, there were a few typos, but not enough to slow the flow of reading. Like with most short stories, it’s insta love, the story moves quickly, wraps up very fast, and is light on details. It’s told in dual points of view. No cheating. He does eventually claim her so I guess that’s an HEA. The epilogue shows their near future with everyone happy.
I'm so sorry but this is bad. I know it's a short story and insta love so I'm not going to comment on how events unfold. But this is almost so bad that it's like the author is making fun of this whole trope/ genre of books. The dialogue and internal monologue is awful, stilted and so cringey. How are you going to throw around the word "c**k" and have descriptive spicy scenes then say, "heck" and "darn?" It just didn't make sense. In my best Fat Amy impression: "Not a good enough reason to use the word p e n e t r a t e."
I really don't like to leave bad reviews because regardless of whether or not a book is bad I'm still so impressed that someone was able to put pen to paper and get a whole story out. I know that if I was an author I would never want to see a bad review so I'm really sorry! Especially since I seem to be the minority.
If you loved this I'm so happy for you! Just wasn't for me.
First time reading this author and I really enjoyed this shifter story. I’m getting ready to grab another book by this author to decide if they are a must-read for me. There were a few minor details in this book that didn’t make me LOVE it but I’m gonna see how some others compare.
The first part of this book was slow with unnecessary details (FMC running errands😴). Also I felt like the MMC could have been a little more ‘alpha’. Yeah it’s not everyone’s thing but when I think shifter mate, I think demanding bossy possessive alpha. While I figured he wasn’t going to let his mate go, he never told her that (thought it would scare her away). Instead she thought he didn’t love her and she was miserable the entire book thinking she was going to leave him. I felt like her loss of hope and sadness overshadowed the love/ romance of their story. Hopefully other MC in authors other books are more likable.
Poor Rowan is being forced to marry someone she doesn't want to marry in order to get her father out of debt. The only reason she agrees to the marriage is to protect her younger sister. Rowan decides to take a trip to her grandmother's old cabin for a few days before she is forced to marry. She has beautiful memories visiting her grandmother in the cabin. She meets her really hot neighbor named Jaxton who knew she was his mate when he saw her at her grandmother's cabin years ago. He never forgot her. He tells her she is his. When she sees him in his grizzly form, she isn't afraid and remembers how her grandmother told her about shifters. They have some ups and downs but they do get their happily ever after together and save her younger sister at the same time.
I loved this "second chance" read. I really like it when deserving hero/heroines get their HEA, and both Rowan and Jaxton definitely deserved theirs. Although they encountered a few obstacles along the way, their paths were already set, they simply had to find their ways. Rowan's need to protect her younger sister far outweighed her hearts' path, and Jaxton's need to protect his mate was even stronger. All they truly needed was a plan. A great plot with a perfect pace that keeps you reading. Definitely worth grabbing this well written "feel-good" book. I was gifted a copy of this book and am giving my honest opinion
This was a great series opener and it really had a high-stakes feel to it. Rowan is being sold to her father's creditor and she is only onboard with the idea to protect her little sister. Her heart and happiness come second to that need to keep her safe. She goes to her deceased Gma's cabin as a final retreat before the deal is closed. She meets Jaxton at the cabin and he was beyond thrilled to see her back again. Their connection was strong and steamy and her protection was all that mattered to him. I loved the surprise twist in dealing with her father and that this enabled a safe and happy HEA. I'm really looking forward to more stories set in this world :D
This is a nice story with characters that you can enjoy. There is some emotional drama with a nice ending. There are parts that's funny and will make you smile. It's interesting enough for you to keep turning the pages until the end. If you are in the mood for light hearted friends to lovers reading. But after all it's a story with very little surprise about it with characters you can be entertained by.The part that's sad involves highs and lows of a relationship and is very emotional too. If you are in the mood for light hearted reading then again you will enjoy this story. I enjoy this author so I will read the next book in this series!
Tiny bit of a plot, the rest of the book is them having sex everywhere!
Rowan is being forced into marrying a loan shark who her dad owes money to. For her final weekend of freedom she goes to stay at her grandmothers cabin in the woods, and meets Jaxton who is her neighbour.
Jaxton is also a bear shifter, and has known that Rowan is his mate for years, after seeing her visit her grandmother. Within a few hours they’re having rampant sex everywhere possible. It’s endless.
There is a tiny plot to this book, and I mean tiny. The rest of it is then having sex.
Nowhere near the best shifter books that I’ve read.
I only finished this because it's so short. It's got a reasonable rating here so I expected more. A very short book needs to be fast paced but still feel complete. This is very fast paced but feels rushed and incomplete!
Also, the inconsistencies (most obviously in when her mum died - when she was 5, 5 years ago or when she was 8) are just frustrating.
Some novella length books are excellent, but it's because they don't try to achieve a full length novel in a very short space of time and that's what has happened here.
Rowan has 4 days to enjoy the peace and solitude of her grandmothers old cabin. Why 4 days? Because that's how long her father gave her before she has to come back home to marry the rurhless man her father sold her too.
Jaxton enjoys the solitude of his cabin. Well, he and his bear do. And when Rowan rocks up, his bear goes into overdrive. "MATE"
Their chemistry is off the periodic table, and the electricity is enough to take out the national grid.
But what will happen when she has to leave? And will Jacton even let her go.
This was a new author for me, but I will definitely be checking out her other works!
Some very minor editing/grammar errors
Rowan (h) is visiting her late grandmother's cabin when her neighbour Jaxton (H) recognizes her as his mate. Her father has promised her to another man to solve his debt and save her little sister, and she is enjoying her last free weekend.
– Dual POV – Shifter hero, fated mates – Dual virgin! – Insta-love – HEA epilogue, but only 3 months out :( would have loved to see some cubs 🥰
I'm stuck between 2 and 3 ⭐ purely because the book had a good plot, that's why I decided on what I did. But it had a lot of flaws I wasn't a fan of. Like for instance you wait for the whole book, hoping for the mark scene. Or at least I did. But instead I get an epilogue that states he marked you at some point between the times. Like cute, cool. But that's annoying. Something I always hated about quick paced short story romances. Never enough details. It was decent, a nice read if you're bored.
This quick novella was...well... It could've been better... Personally I wasn't a fan of the wording of some things, which made me laugh or cringe at the spicy scenes; the 🍒 obsession felt icky, and I generally like a 🍒 pop; and there was a lot of telling instead of showing... Like saying we had a day of spice instead of actually giving us the spice. Don't get me wrong there were a few spicy scenes.
The book covers in this series are great though 👌🏽
Rowan has decided to give up her freedom for her sister but wants one last time to do what she wants before all this happens. Jaxton is werebear who has found his mate four years ago in Rowan but she doesn’t know it. When they are trapped together during a blizzard love comes fast but Rowan must leave after to fulfill her promise and Jaxton must find a way to stop it. This is an insta-love story and the first in a new series. Can’t wait for the next one.
I love a good story. Rowan escapes to her grandmothers home 4 hours away from her home town. She will stay there for 4 days then drove home me so her father can sell her to the mafia. Jaxton however has other plans as he fell in love with her the first time he saw her over 4 years ago. Now all Jaxton had to do was convince Rowan that she was his mate ! What a story. Loved it Enjoy !
Yes. Is all that comes to mind. You should read this book. The picture I have of this couple is perfect. The backdrop is incredible. The author did such a good job the story was steamy and not predictable. I loved the ending I totally didn't see that coming. Yes, I think we would love a big growly man-bear to love on us like Jaxton does on Rowan. 😉
Rowan is escaping to her late Grandma's cabin before she has to give up her freedom to her father's criminal creditor. She only has a few days to enjoy her respite and her arrival in the midst of a blizzard does not bode well. However, when she meets next door neighbor and bear shifter, Jaxton, her future changes. Once a shifter finds his mate, he's not letting her go. And Rowan discovers Jason's abilities in surprising and completely satisfying ways!
Rowan is about to be sold to settle her father's debts. Somehow manages to get a weekend before the trade-off to herself. Goes to her dead grandma's cabin. Meets a grizzly shifter who says she's his mate. Grizzly saves her. Ta-da happy ending.
It's fine for what it is. A pretty typical "shifter obsessed with his mate" type story. There wasn't really anything in here that I didn't feel like I've read before. It was fine, but nothing super exciting for me.
Rowan was running away from her life for 4 blissful days. She was being given to a man to cover her father's debts, and to protect her sister. What she didn't count on was Jaxton- a grizzly shifter who spotted her, his mate, 4 years ago. And nobody keeps a grizzly from his mate...Excellent 1st book in a new series by Ariana Hawkes!
