When her father suddenly dies, Winter Grace, 17, is forced to fly across the country and attend a mysterious prep school, an ancient castle in a fog-covered island on the coast of Maine. Nothing here is what it seems, and it isn’t long before Winter, feeling a surging power for the first time, realizes that she is not who—or what—she thinks she is.

But when Winter feels an inexplicable crush for an elusive and dangerous boy at the school, she realizes a greater destiny is at play. She knows the relationship might destroy them both—yet she also knows that they can never be apart.

In MATED, Winter and her crush embark on a dangerous quest to retrieve the magic relic and save their friends their school.

Yet they have no idea of the fate awaiting them—or what they will need to do for each other to survive.

Creating an unforgettable world of vampires, werewolves, shifters and magic of all sorts, a world of fantasy, love and sacrifice, MORTAL will take you to another place, rife with shocking twists and turns. Fans of books such as Vampire Academy and Twilight and Crush are sure to fall in love!

Listened to the audiobook and maybe I just didn’t like this as much as I could have if it had been a different narrator.

The books are slow to get to the point and repetitive in some ways. The narrator also mispronounces so many words (Igor, Nova Scotia, Orion, etc…), it’s embarrassing. That alone makes me not want to continue on with these books in audio format.

They spend about 1.4 seconds in the school before having to leave, so that's lame, but good nonetheless

I read the first which I was unimpressed with and had already purchased the second so I figured I would give the series a second chance. It feels like reading a bad soap opera. The villains say things like “get them! Don’t let them get away” at ever encounter with the protagonists like they’re the henchmen of Disney Villains. It’s just overall very cheesy, undeveloped while also having way too much going on. Won’t be reading the rest.

I had to DNF. I wanted to like this series so bad. There was so much potential. All of it was very rushed. Built up going to the school and character building just for nothing to happen with them and they are forced to leave the school before anything really happens? Some parts were very cringey, I know we like to have the men have feels for the women and also be brooding and sulky, but I just couldn’t with this. This one gave Twilight meets Percey Jackson feels. Copy and paste + rushed. So little happening for moments that should have been big and drawn out.

Sooo idk, I don't really feel like much happened in this book. The whole time they're searching for this coin, and Winter is trying to figure out what powers she has because she has no idea what she is. Meanwhile Alec is trying not the vamp out after being stabbed by the silver hunters at the end of book 1. I'm just not connecting with these characters, but I can't really seem to stop listening to the audiobooks either. 😅 We've left ff on another cliffhanger, but we got this interesting epilogue that has me pulled back in!

Book was good. But it wasn’t fantastic. I binged it. It’s an easy quick read. But there are things not fully fleshed out. One minute the character naturally knows how to use her new gifts and another time she has to practice but then that little practice is enough to rescue someone. I really like this book’s concept and I just wish it was more fleshed out. There’s also something about the main character and the love interest that bothers me but I can’t put my finger on it.

A good narrator on audio can totally make a book better. The narrow toe this author chose, Darcy Else or whatever is HORRIFIC. SO MANY mispronounced words. The worst being their version of Nova Scotia. “Nova Scott-Tia”. Followed by “importan” minus the T. Cacophony, Igor and too many more to count. I looked up the next books narrator and see it’s AI. As much as I want to finish this series the authors absolutely abysmal choice of narrators are going to make me pass.

3.5⭐️ It was an easy read but there seemed to be a lot missing. Since most of the book was from Winter’s POV, it was a bit confusing when that changed. For example, Ch. 3 changed to Tier’s POV and I had no idea who Tier was. There’s some lack of cohesion when it comes to Winter’s powers and her ability to use them properly. A lot of repetition with escaping the Silver Hunters and then being found by them and then fighting them off.

Goodread

This series wasn't exactly what I Expected it to be but it's been a good read
it's kind of a cross between Harry Potter and Indiana jones. There is a
lot of moving parts to this story each book introduces new parts but as of right now I am in book four and it's still has me guessing as to what's going to happen it's not cut and dry like a lot of books where you know exactly what's going to happen it has lots of unexpected surprises looking forward to finishing the series

Listened to the audiobook and the person reading, both in this book and the first one, mispronounced words ?? It also felt like the author had a thesaurus next to her while writing and chose words to sound intelligent, but words that don’t fit with the rest of the writing style. There are also just inconsistencies in the plot. I really wanted to like this cause this genre is my fav.

Honestly, this book could’ve been better. I think there’s a lot of confusion at the beginning, and then it kind of just dragged on. I was really hoping for an edge of my seat, page, turning book. It was a little disappointed. I like the love story, but definitely would have preferred a better plot

3.5 stars. More development. Romance opened up a bit. More action. Ya starter fantasy still. Books end on decent cliffhangers tho and they are short enough that investing the time to read is reasonable…. Maybe book three but taking a break. This series probably could have been 3 books total with some editing…

Is this good writing? No.
Is there plot or character development? Not really.
Will I keep reading the series? I’m about to fly across the world on a plane and they were free from the library so probably.
Would I suggest them? Hahaha.

I did the audio version; can someone please teach the narrator how to say Nova Scotia hearing Nova Scott-i-a was painful. The story has so much potential, but the holes are huge in the plot and when events happen, they don't really make sense. I think this is where I'm going to end this series.

I hate the sliver hunters and that they killed someone I really liked. I don't want to ruin the story for anyone, but it is good. I wish a little more romance between Alec and Winter but maybe soon.

Story just kept flowing and I didn't want to put it down. It was just good it pulled me into the book as if I was a character myself! 10/10 recommend

Not sure what the name of the book has to do with what actually happens in the book. The authors thoughts are still jumbled and nothing is actually finished.

Still meh. I find the main character to be a bit whiny. It’s entertaining enough to audiobook to pass the time like background noise while doing other things.
