After an unillustrious print journalism career in southwestern Pennsylvania, Rich Bottles Jr. moved to West Virginia at the age of 32 to pursue a career in technical writing. He spends his free time visiting and hiking at the many state parks in the Mountain State, which is also where he develops the concepts for his novels.
Rich recently completed a trilogy of WV-themed "humorrorotica," which includes the novels “Lumberjacked,” “Hellhole West Virginia” and “The Manacled.”
In addition to editing and contributing to the Burning Bulb Publishing anthologies “Westward Hoes” and “The Big Book of Bizarro,” he has also written stories for the StrangeHouse Books anthologies “Strange Sex,” "A Very StrangeHouse Christmas," "Strange Versus Lovecraft," "Strange Fucking Stories" and “Zombie! Zombie! Brain Bang!”
He is currently working on a horror novel set in West Virginia’s Amish Country.
His only regret in life is that his out-of-state secondary school education prohibited him from earning West Virginia's prestigious Golden Horseshoe Award.

Granted, I'm a contributor (City of the Dead), but I really enjoyed reading the rest of the stories. Talented authors.

Two pounds of reading (538 pages) that's packed with some of the strangest fiction on Earth for only twenty bucks! Fifty-seven stories (57 varieties) and not one about Heinz ketcup, so what more do you want?!

Uneven, as one would expect, but still a lot of fun.

Bad writing is part and parcel of Bizarro fiction. Bizarro is the literary equivalent of Troma films: sure, they could have better acting, better scripts, better direction, and bigger budgets. But then they wouldn't be Troma films!

I think Bizarro fiction works best in a format like this: a collection of short works by many authors, in which freedom of expression is the only unifying theme. A Bizarro novel is too much a gamble, as the enjoyment of a good one (Shatnerquake, Fistful of Feet, Satan Burger) requires sitting through a few dozen bad ones.
