Kyle Newman is a Hugo Award-nominated, New York Times Bestselling author and award-winning filmmaker.

I thought it was very cute! I loved the exploration of the multiverse and all the artwork, prop design, and photography that brought to life the fantasy setting. I found myself more drawn to the pastries and bakery items more than the chef meals, but I liked the variety for sure!

Beautifully done cookbook. Photos of most but not all recipes. There's a D&D story of four odd companions (pictured on cover) woven through the book...madcap misadventure that was face-palming funny. Hope to try a couple recipes sometime.

Off the bat, my biggest complaint is that there aren’t pictures of every recipe in the book. Many have illustrations of characters alongside recipes, and I believe that pictures of the recipe in cookbooks are invaluable.

That being said, I do think that the recipes will be fun to try, and there are a number of them that would be fun to share at one of our campaign sessions. I also appreciate that they kept alcoholic beverage recipes to a minimum, but there were more than I expected.

Heroes' Feast Flavors of the Multiverse: An Official D&D Cookbook by Kyle Newman, Jon Peterson, and Michael Witwer is a follow up to a prior cookbook that doubles as both a fan Easter egg for experimentation but also an universe relic or momento.

The book follows a group of group adventurers as they break from mundane fantasy adventure and go beyond the realms they previously pass through…venturing to other planets and planes.

Rather than being organized by type of food, the book is divided into different regions (with each area getting a focus on appetizers, entrees, deserts, and drinks).

This adventuring party has some impressive travels as they hit a number of major spots including Solamnia (Dragonlance setting), Ravenloft (be mindful of the ingredients), the Rock of Bral (the best asteroid space port in the astral sea), and the Feywild (among others).

The book accompanied by ample art and relics recovered from their travels, and each recipe has a brief passage by one of the party covering their local acquired knowledge of the item.

Unless you don’t wish your part to know about other planes or worlds, I don’t see why this wouldn’t make a find addition to any player or GM’s library.

A charming cookbook. I liked how it was grouped into different section by "who" would eat it - humans, elves, halflings etc. It was a fun read and the photography was lovely. The recipes look good although I haven't made any of them yet.

My only real criticism is that the conceit of naming the recipes thematically is confusing at times, especially when there aren't photographs of every recipe. Giving them a made-up name but no explanation of what it really "is" (translated to us normal humans) is a barrier. One recipe I think is stuffed mushrooms? I'm not quite sure.

But this would be a great gift for the roleplaying people in your lives, especially for younger ones that are starting out on their cooking journeys.

It made me think about doing some themed dinners for my gaming group!

As an average cook, I found the recipes well laid out and was able to make a couple of the dishes relatively easily (the Blood of Vol tasted amazing). There's also a very handy index at the back of the book with each ingredient. If you aren't sure what to make, but want to use for example, scallions, so you find recipes from there as well.

Beyond that, there's a super fun story of adventurers in between the recipe sections, lore behind each recipe within the D&D settings for the food and inns (which you may find inn-spirational!), and good practical advice for making meals for groups.

Beyond EBN 2023

I. Loved. This. Book!! In the beginning you are introduced to a group of adventurers and they are the ones that take you through the Realms to try the amazing dishes they discover. You follow them on their "Quest". This is definitely on my "To Buy" list for sure. I may ask Santa for it!

I can't wait to get this and then start tying out some of the recipes. From Goldenstars to Elven Flatbread and Ruby Cordial and Honeymilk. Many succulent recipes that made my mouth water.

You should check this one out. Truely!

As a huge D&D nerd, this book is amazing. From it's thick, glossy pages to incredible art, it's enticing pictures of the crafted dishes and absolutely hilarious party antics in between, this was a delight to devour (ha) in one evening's read.

I cannot wait to start on some of these recipes, which go from the easy snack to the involved and hearty meals.

So happy I purchased this.

Fun!

I mean, really!

My son bought me this for Christmas. Today I made the Goldenstars and loved them. I had always been intimidated by pie crusts and today I used a D&D cookbook to get past that fear.

The illustrations are stellar. The recipes are actually good (and doable.)

There are more I will be making. I have my eyes on Blood of Vol maybe next...

I prefer this cookbook to the previous D&D one as it has more diverse recipes that don't rely on meat and alcohol as heavily as the previous one did. There are also less recipes that take a large amount of time to make, as well as smaller and easier to make meals as well.
