If your life dissolved in a flash, would you be strong enough to survive?
Half of the earth's population has been wiped out. Impossible to predict or stop, the Gamma Ray Burst tore through the Earth like a bullet, its radiation wave killing hundreds of millions and the aftereffects ensuring the deaths of billions more.
Now, as the world crumbles around them, a ragtag group of survivors make for the only home they know - the small town of Mercy. Spared the worst of the GRB's effects, the town is isolated, safe and self-sufficient - for now.
The flash hasn't just decimated the Earth's population, though. It's brought out the worst in many of those who are still alive. Survival in this new world doesn't just depend on preparedness - it depends on strength.
*****
It's the one disaster no one can plan for. A rogue cosmic event called a Gamma Ray Burst, sending a spike of radiation through the earth like a .50 caliber bullet through a ripe watermelon. It's speculated that such an event hit the Earth at some point in the past, causing a mass extinction event. With two potential sources for a GRB pointed directly at our heads, the chances of another one happening in our lifetime is remote... but still possible.
In Flashpoint, we explore such an event and the havoc it would wreak across the entire planet. From destroying our atmosphere to millions dying from incredibly painful radiation exposure, a GRB would be unpredictable and unavoidable for everyone, rich and poor, prepared and unprepared alike.

These book are awesome, exciting page turner, if you like clean apocalypse stories you'll love these! Tara Ellis and Mike Kraus make a great writing team Happy reading!
I really liked this book. It’s not one of those books where the ex-military guys go around killing whoever for whatever reason just because they are in a dystopian society.
I’m extremely happy I chose to read this series. I’m just sorry it had to end! The cause of worldwide disaster is actually a plausible scenario without the usual fantasy add-ons. I love the way the main characters were built up and brought together. This story just flows seamlessly to the end. Great read!
I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down. The characters are particularly interesting and well drawn. I really enjoyed the setting of the book and the story felt fresh and original. Highly recommended as not to be missed.
What a great series. Well written, well researched. Unfortunately it could happen. Great characters from all walks of life. Enjoyed all the books. Sad to Finnish. Will be reading more of the authors books
Family, friends, and hope. You can’t survive without those 3 things. Survival requires giving everything you have in yourselves to work through danger and come out alive. Great series and I thoroughly enjoyed it all.
Flashpoint follows a number of characters trying to get home after a blast from space causes a near extinction event. While those that enjoy disaster stories will get plenty of action, it will also appeal to those that appreciate interpersonal relations in their stories, along with military-gone-rogue characters. Wrapped around all of that are good guys and bad guys...but who is who? The books that reveal the the convolution are hard to put down and they stand on their own merits without relying on sex, nudity, drunkenness or use of drugs. That said, there is violence but it is a part of what fleshed out the plot. Read it and see if you don't agree!
This was a pretty good post apocalyptic EMP action adventure story. I love this genre and I’m always looking and searching for new titles and authors. Nothing new or shocking in the story, but it was fast paced, had several interesting characters that were easy to root for and empathize with. I like the author’s writing style and character development . There were a few puzzling random chapters where the author introduced a new character only to let them die or fade away at the end of the chapter. It was sort of random. The narrator was excellent. It was easy to distinguish between the characters and which one was speaking.
Everything I ‘ve come to love and crave from post apocalyptic fiction, delivered with excellent writing and story construction. Deep relational connections that move ordinary people through extraordinary circumstances, those connections running deep and true. Plot twists along the way that left me feeling despair and then relief. Read and rate, so others are tempted by reviews, and help them find this gemstone hidden in a field of many!
I have read several post apocalyptic novels and some of them were so hokey that I simply stopped reading them and found something else to read. This particular story grabbed me from the very first few pages and I literally could not put it down. Do yourself a favor and acquire this one. You will never regret it! A very good story and totally believable!
I really enjoyed this book. The way the various character's storylines were interwoven was masterful. A lot of suspense and action with a sliver of romance. My kind of post-apocalyptic adventure. Will look for more from Tara Ellis.
Really wonderful series. Really pulls you into it. Easy to get caught up in the characters emotions. The storyline is so realist too! I enjoyed all the books now I'll have book hangover for days!
While this is a great series, there was a few things that were not necessary. These things caused the real story to fall into the background at times. If it were not for these unnecessary outliers this would have been a 5 star read. Spoiler: the character of Russell was just not needed. I honestly skipped every chapter describing his doings. Nothing was lost from the story by doing this. Also, the chapters concerning the General’s machinations were needlessly too long and involved without helping the story progress. Otherwise, a great read.
Enjoyed the read although with these end of civilisation books it seems somewhat unlikely that survivors are able to coalesce and restart on such an elevated level so quickly. Having survived and endured the destruction and aftermath of hurricane Katrina for what took many months to be even functionally ok makes the books timeline very unrealistic. Its a small thing really but it always stands out to me. Enjoyed book immensely otherwise
What a great story! Kept me interested when life kept getting n the way lol Read it so fast, I'm gonna have to read it again! I certainly recommend reading Flashpoint... The complete series And to keep an eye out for these 2 authors Tara Ellis,...Mike Kraus
What would you do if the world as you know it ended in a flash?
An exciting story, with strong characters in an apocalyptic setting that leaves even the most prepared in precarious situations. Crisis brings out the best and worst in people and this book gives us both sides.
The story was good. It was well written. There was too much death written in that ad nothing to do with the story. It got depressing. Just too much death and not enough hope to suit me.
Made me actually want to live in Mercy and be part of them! Only dissapointment was we never found whst happened to various individual who ended up strsnded and alone
Could have used a little more action. The character development is excellent. Probably a very accurate portrayal of what would happen in an end of world event.
Although a little drug out with no end in sight, I thoroughly enjoyed this series. So many twists and turns that each chapter brought new excitement and a continued mystery to where the narrative would take me.
