這樁死傷慘重的爆炸案，或許是令人震驚的悲劇，但對我們來說，不過是個遊戲罷了。

我叫島村圭介，白天是個酒精中毒的流浪漢，晚上做點小酒吧生意。原以為今天和過去一年裡的每一天相同，直到一聲震耳的巨響從地底傳來－－這聲音我是知道的，是炸藥引起的爆炸聲。
熱鬧的中央公園頓時成了人間煉獄，哀嚎聲四起，大批人群正從煙霧升起處朝我奔來。我反方向往前走去，想找尋不久前跟我說過話、小提琴拉得很好的小女孩。我往爆炸的中心走去，往恐怖分子的犯罪動機走去，也往二十二年前早已告別、不堪回首的青春走去……

The Terrorist's Umbrella is a 1995 mystery novel by Iori Fujiwara. The male lead is a friendless drunk who survives at the corner of Tokyo by doing odd jobs. One day, when he is drinking in a park in Shinjuku, a bomb suddenly goes off in the park, killing many people---in middle of the inferno, the drunk manages to save a little girl, but the next thing we know, we see that the drunk's first reaction is to escape from the scene and keep himself off the police's radar.
Why would he react like this? Is the drunk trying to run from the shadows of his past? Why would some mysterious people try to keep him quiet? What would the man do after he found out one of the victims who died in the terrorist attack is his ex girlfriend?
It's a neatly and effectively written hard-boiled murder mystery, the atmosphere and the tone of the story is masterfully set (all tastefully hard-boiled and noir!), the plot twists in the end really do come as a surprise for me. I like how the underdog male lead is written and how his backstory is tied to the 1968 student movement.
Why would he react like this? Is the drunk trying to run from the shadows of his past? Why would some mysterious people try to keep him quiet? What would the man do after he found out one of the victims who died in the terrorist attack is his ex girlfriend?

verzwickt komponierte Krimi-Knobelei mit Flashbacks und interessanten Einblicken in die japanische Gesellschaft. Bemerkenswerte Figuren, erstaunliche Auflösung. Ironisch, sanft, melancholisch, fast naiv erzählt und doch gut reflektiert, geistreiche Dialoge, sehr gut übersetzt.

Es ist 1993. Im Zentralpark von Tokio explodiert eine Bombe und tötet und verletzt zahlreiche Personen. Keisuke Shimamura, ein alkoholabhängiger Außenseiter, der seit Jahren im Untergrund lebt, hält sich zu dem Zeitpunkt wie üblich ebenfalls im Park auf. Die Polizei vermutet einen terroristischen Anschlag. Nachdem man Shimamuras Fingerabdrücke auf einer zurückgebliebenen Whiskyflasche entdeckt hat, gerät er, der in den 70er Jahren zu Zeiten der japanischen Studentenrevolten bereits in einen Bombenunfall verwickelt war, erneut ins Ziel der Ermittlungen. Zusammen mit einem Yakuza und der Tochter seiner früheren Freundin, die ebenfalls zu den Opfern im Park gehört, macht sich Shimamura nun auf die Suche nach den wahren Tätern, um letztendlich selbst seine Unschuld zu beweisen.
Als Iori Fujiwara "Der Sonnenschirm des Terroristen" verfasste, hatte er ein überlebenswichtiges Ziel: Der Roman musste unbedingt Erfolg haben. Denn Fujiwara hatte eine Menge Spielschulden angesammelt und die japanische Mafia im Nacken. Er gewann mit seinem Kriminalroman auch tatsächlich einen hoch dotierten Preis, der ihm schließlich Gesundheit und Leben rettete.

gute Figuren leider aber als europäer etwas kompliziert mit den namen. erklärungen zu viel auf einmal/langwierig
