This installment spent a lot of time with the characters self-reflecting, PTSD and the internal and external forces that effect all of that. The book was definately far more character then story driven leaving the overall vibe for me just ok. I kicked it up to four on the approach to PTSD alone. I thought it was handled really well.

Quick(ish) Review

Fourth entry in series and it’s about what I expected. Traumatized hero dealing with PTSD and heroine who’s not sure he’s actually in love with her. The plotting is a little loose with logic but it fits with the rest of the series. I’m patiently waiting for Malakaz’s book, so this one was fine but not my fave.

Overall a good read, the love story felt weirdly similar to others in these series, even though Draz is very different from his brothers. I have to admit, I'm a sucker for broken men, so Draz was right up my alley. Blaire is great as well, I love her determination and how willingly she would habe sacrificed herself for the greater good. Most importantly, Draz almost dying broke me, I cried actual tears. Can't wait for the next part.

Written in first person, Savage is book 4 of the Society of Savages series. It follows the Thesian alien Draz, a species that is damn near extinction, and his human mate Blaire. Blaire was part of a human group that escaped their kidnappers (Grivath) after being abducted from Earth. It appears that most aliens despise the Grivath, who were also responsible for the decimation of the Thesians. The group of humans swore to seek vengeance by tracking down those who abducted them. The ship they stole ran out of fuel near the planet Brexos, the city of Teevor, which was unofficially ran by Malakaz, who happened to be Draz’s brother. In exchange for helping them get revenge, the women agreed to work for Malakaz doing odd jobs. In book 1, Makayla (a security specialist) broke Malakaz’s brother Jax out of prison, where they happened to find another brother Draz imprisoned, who was instantly fixated on Blaire when they busted him out. In book 2, Harper (a professional thief) was tasked with working with Bavix (also a professional thief and another brother of Malakaz) to first steal a location from a scientist, then the powerful artifact that the location led to. Book 3 brought Emma (a cop) and Callux (a space pirate and brother of Malakaz) together. Their task was to intercept a kidnapping of a 9 year old princess and keep her safe. The mated pair wound up adopting that princess to raise along with one on the way in Emma’s belly. This book finally dove into Draz and Blaire. After being rescued from the prison in book 1, Draz was nonverbal with PTSD and Blaire was the only one who could get through to him. They decided to take Draz to a mind healer on Zecax, which happened to be the same planet Harper and Bavix traveled to for the crown. Aria begged Malakaz for help with Eloise, who was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Malakaz arranged for Aria to travel with them to take Eloise to the healers as well. Everything was going smoothly until the Warids (a species that worked for Malakaz) betrayed them to the Grivath. They were after Aria, knowing how much she meant to Malakaz, and the Grivath kidnapped her. The rest of the group made it to the healers, with a few speed bumps and hiccups along the way. Draz’s condition improved along the journey. He remembered his past and was able to speak again. The two grew closer, falling in love and becoming mates.

The next book will follow Malakaz and Aria. Finally! Not only will we get a clearer picture of what happened, leading up to the beginning of this series, but also see the relationship unfold with Aria after he rescues her. About time!

I’m officially hooked on the story line of these couples and will undoubtedly finish this series. I like that it was written in first person perspective, and it had just the right balance of romance and adventure. The book wasn’t too long or too short, it was just right with a happily ever after. These are well written enough that I will also examine the author’s prior work. 🫶🏻 I only hope that the final book doesn’t disappoint as I have high expectations.

Do you believe in fate?

Fourth story of the new spin-off in the Arcav / Agron universe featuring Drak and Blaire. I personally do not consider this to be a stand-alone within the current series, as there are too many reoccurring characters and overarching scenes and themes. This series timeframe begins after the end of the original two Arcav series. So while it may not be absolutely necessary to have read those series, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend they also be read in publication order. This is because there is additional background that just can’t be adequately explained.

** This is an alien PNR series that features elements of female and male abduction and their enslavement. It contains scenes and /or themes that may be difficult for sensitive readers. A high-level listing of topics is listed below for anyone interested. **

— If you have not read this story, or any of the series, the following may contain spoilers! —

I really love the action and added mystery / suspense with this new series. This is the first story in the series where someone is not sent to acquire something by Malakaz. This gave the series the chance to set up for the conclusion, which is supposed to be in the next story. I just know it is going to be a long wait, currently over 6 months, before Malakaz’s story will be released.

I love the evolution of Draz and Blaire! We have been given periodic glimpses of the improvement he has made since he was rescued from the prison planet in an earlier story. I was surprised by Blaire’s culture and loved the angle taken with her ‘little voice’. Whether others discount it or not, I know irl I have only had issues when I didn’t listen to my own ‘little voice’.

There are some grammatical errors in the story, but nothing difficult to interpret. I uploaded my other notes to Goodreads for anyone interested. I mention these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.

⛔️ Contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including, but not limited to: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges; steamy adult intimate scenes with elements of dominance, etc.; violence such as abduction, murder, death, theft, embezzlement, torture, war between alien races, betrayal, human trafficking, enslavement, etc.

I cannot tell you how long I’ve been waiting for Draz and Blaire’s book…. Geez, same for Malakaz and Aria 🤣…. Now one of my hopes (no pun 🤣) and dreams have been answered! Draz and Blaire’s story was A-mazing! Action packed and packed full of heat, chemistry and longing. We find ourselves with Draz in his head as usual but now we get a more in depth look at his demons and seeing things from his perspective truly was an eye opening experience. In this book both our our mc’s had issues to worth through. I think it was amazing to see how Blaire’s “powers” worked and how Hope worked in “unmei”. That was so clever it had me smiling because I’ve been learning Japanese forever and I’ve been to japan so I know this word well. I found it fascinating how their whole situation worked out. There was one thing in the book that frustrated me. I’m going to say it… without giving away spoilers, given the chance to make your enemies disappear you take it…. Even if you have to put off your journey it will take no longer than 5 minutes to do so. Please do that and it will eliminate the stress of being tracked, hunted and hounded. Remember these wise words. Also, it will eliminate the possibility of those enemies arriving to the place you need to be later and making the opposing side stronger with more numbers. Okay. There. 😂. I was foaming at the mouth at that. Other than that this book was one of the sweetest, most endearing yet funny books. Hope truly can write a great book. I have absolutely loved these brothers and how they’ve met their mates have been exciting great smash hits! These books shouldn’t be missed. I cannot wait to see what happens with Eloise…. Who is her mate? Sarah still disgusts me, Malakaz….. my oh my. All I will say about that. I’m waiting with baited breath for that book. This grumpy bear 🐻 gave this book 5 cosmic stars 💥💥💥💥💥. Hope has another winning series under her belt here! Read them from the beginning!! The Arcav series!

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher for my honest and unbiased review.

Well worth the wait 💖💖🔥🔥🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

It feels like I've been waiting to read this book for forever! And my friends it was well worth the wait. As always the world building excellent and the chemistry between the lead characters is off the charts. Blaire was on the military back on earth her experience has saved her life and the lives of her friends/ family countless times since their abduction. But nothing prepared her for Draz the Thesian warrior with the tortured mind and the biggest heart. She just wants to see him healed and finally able to live a whole healthy life. She didn't expect to call head over heels in love. Blaire, is going to make sure that the male she loves is healed and the friends she loves are healed as well. Draz is slowly coming out of his state of rafe. He knows nothing except for how
Blaire, makes him feels. She is the port of calm in the storm she is his salvation the only one that can bring him back to himself. Together they embark on a journey not only to heal his mind but to try and find a cure for the sickness plaguing Eloise. They encounter betrayal and life threatening dangers on their mission but also find incredible acceptance and soul deep love and passion. I highly recommend it will leave you wanting more and I'm already on edge waiting for the next book it's going to be intense and amazing!💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖💖💖🔥🔥💖💖

LOVED IT!

I love this universe of characters that Ms. Hart has created it all started with her Arcav Alien Invasion series, continued with the Warriors of Agron series and now, this Society of Savages series. What makes it better is the strong female leads that Ms. Hart conjures.

Like most of the women in these three series, our FMC, Blaire, is no different. A former Army soldier, before her abduction from earth, she is strong, smart and has good instincts in battle. She is the perfect mate to Draz. He was an imprisoned Thesian they found in a cage in a previous book. His psyche is badly wounded and Blaire is the only one he will allow near him. It was heartbreaking yet heartwarming at the same time, to see his healing.

I just got so many good feelz from reading this book. I highly recommend this series to anyone that enjoys sci-fi romance books. But start with the Arcav Alien Invasion series first. You will thoroughly enjoy this world of characters and romance.

Red strings

These two characters are among my favorites. She's a warrior (army Sergeant I think) and he's got super complex PTSD from growing up tortured and abused. He doesn't speak when she finds him but once he starts, he speaks directly to the point about his feelings (I had some tears watching him struggle). They are super sweet together.

My favorite moment - at some point when he was young, wounded, and dying alone, she came to him, also young, psychically across the galaxy. She helps save his life - from his point of view, "Dying’s stupid,” she told me, wrinkling her tiny nose. “How are we going to play on the swings if you die?”

The back story is coming along really well. We are totally set up for the next book in which the MMC has been a controlling villain/hero throughout the series and the MFC is an adrenaline junkie and "loose cannon."

This book is one amazing roller-coaster ride of emotions that proves you can overcome anything! Draz has been trapped inside his own mind for a long time and the connection he had to Blaire immediately has always been one I could not wait to see play out and boy did it!! Hope Hart really took her time with this book unraveling the demons the both faced and really bringing them both to an incredible journey! This is not an easy story! Draz has experienced a lot of demons, definitely different from his brothers but the magic that is Blaire provides the balm to bring him out of it!! 5 stars!!!! Also....I am on edge for Malakaz's story!!!! Aria is going to give him such a run for his money🤣🤣

Adventure, action and plenty of romance!

Great addition to this series! Blaire and Chaz’s story is an emotional ride, full of heart, romance, action and so much more. What I love most is that, in each book, the FMC is a kick-ass, smart, resourceful, and very likable character. With so many of alien books out there, it is sometimes difficult to make a book stand out, but Hope Hart has definitely achieved that with each book of this series. Each one can be read as a standalone, and each one is very different from one another. I do recommend you still read them in order, as it will enhance your reading experience. Highly recommended ❤️❤️❤️

DNF @ 64% (Skimmed to finish)

I began this in February 2022 and it's now December 2022 and I honestly don't remember anything from this book.

Except that I got bored and put it down. Specifically after the MCs finally got together because the only thing I DO remember is that I hated the transition into their first sexy time together. It was half-assed and didn't make any sense. So, I can understand why I put the book down after that.

I am disappointed I didn't like this one. I'm a big fan of Hope's work and this might be the first book of hers I've DNF/skimmed out of boredom.

On to the next.

Blurb:
He’s wild. Vicious. Savage.

But deep down, I know he’s in there somewhere. A lost, tortured, confined, boy who grew into an enraged, vengeful man.
I have to believe he’s not beyond saving. Because sometimes, when he looks at me, I know he sees more than just the woman who opened his cage and let him free…
Only to allow him to be locked up again.
Everyone says my plan is too dangerous. They think he’s too damaged. They think he’ll always be crazy.
But one of these days, my savage Thesian is going to break free of his cage.
And when he does, I need him to know who I am.

Poor Draz so haunted and broken from his terrible past. A Victim of PTSD, he finds himself with the assistance of his Earth mate, Blaire. My heart was so heavy for him yet this story finds him a way back to himself. I loved how strong Blaire is for him, A true heroine. The book was so exciting, I couldn't stop reading!!
From the book, so sad but true "people have always had a tendency to destroy what they fear."

disappointed

I’ve loved this series the plot, characters, and action have kept my interest in this series I have to say this book was a little too choppy for me. it was so different than the first few. it would go from one scene to the next without even an explanation or an end it would just skip over into a new thing that was happening which made it very confusing I would still recommend this series and I still can’t wait for the next book.

another great one

I absolutely loved this story while I do wish we could’ve seen more of the betrayal plot it was great. I loved how patient Blaire was with Draz and how devoted Draz was to her! Also how the “mind healers” said his healing would take time and helped him realize his trauma. I’m a bit irked I have to wait a while dang yr for the next book though ijs I absolutely love Hope and her style of writing but the waiting is brutal

This was a great book. We wanted a good story for Blaire and Draz. Everyone roots for the underdog, and Draz received his happy ending. I enjoyed the physic connection between Draz and Blaire as kids. Hope Hart does a great job of telling the story, the journey, the adventures into the unknown worlds. She put's in just the right amount of heat and passion. She leaves us wanting more adventures.

I guess my best advice would be to start these books at the beginning of the series or even previous other series to understand the story better. I didn't. It was a good read but I sort of hate it when there is too many characters involved. I was confused enough without the edition of extra characters. I especially found it hard as I did not know the background of the main male hero and his dilemma.

EXCELLENT Again 😁

This series sets up each brother as they are found, with the women that were taken by bad aliens 😃. In this one the brother has been through torture for years and it's up to the female who loves him to get him better 😊. Lots of action, tons of bad guys and awesome characters will keep your attention 😄. Thanks again Hope, I look forward to reading the next one 🤓.

Locked in his own mind Draz trust no one until a female befriends him. Blaire unlocks Draz's true potential. Slowly she breaks through his broken mind and helps him heal. Through all their triumphs Blaire is his rock and their love for one another unfolds. Blaire is a breath of fresh air and a total badass warrior.

I liked it but you will be lost if you haven't read the earlier books. The author just refers to previous events and characters and it's hard to catch up.

Draz is suffering from ptsd because of all of his hardships. Blaire wants the healers to help him. Eloise also needs to see the healers. The trip is interrupted by some nasty beings. It's an exciting tale! Enjoy

Learning more about Draz and his prior life to becoming the "savage" he is now just shows how much the nuture portion of life really plays a part in your makeup. The fact that he can overcome the negative makes him all the more the hero.

I am irritated beyond belief knowing I will have to wait a year to read the final book in this series. Up to this point all the stories have been enjoyable to read. Makes you wish you could have your own alien hero.🤗

Flame of Life

Wow, Savage is one “can’t put it down book”. Draz, aka Wild Man, man with a scruff is such a lovable hero. Blair is a kick enemy butt strong female heroine. Their action romance adventure just works. Love is the flame of life that keeps us going.

very cute for a wild man/alien

Ptsd is quite a difficult disease and it’s nice to have a story where the patient is not only treated but on his way to being better. I liked this, it’s a great story.
