Is seven days long enough to build a forever love?

I was living a nightmare of my own making.
My life had been erased. My past rewritten. My name changed. I had nothing from my previous life. I was no longer Bridget Keller.
I was promised federal protection. I was promised a new life. I was promised I would be safe. As it turned out, I wasn’t and I only had one place to run—back to Theo Jackson and his painfilled brown eyes, menacing demeanor, and indescribable kindness. To the man I had no business falling in love with yet I had.
I would do anything to go back and change the chain of events that sent my life spiraling. Everything except meeting Theo.

I was never supposed to see Bridget again. I’d let her go—mourned the loss and spent months trying to forget her. When a new threat sends her running back to me, I won’t waste my second chance.
There’s only one thing standing in my way, one obstacle to overcome, unfortunately he has a hostage and I have a choice to make.

*The reread confirmed this is one of my Top
Reads of 2023

I WAS NOT READY FOR THEO

I was so excited to be back in the Z Corps World. I missed these characters and Riley Edwards did not disappoint with the first book in the Silver Team series.

Bridget’s situation was previously mentioned in the Blue Team books because she was being protected for a federal case. She left to go into witness protection and Theo thought he lost his chance. Bridget finds herself in danger and turns to Theo for help.

This story was the perfect blend of dangerous suspense and steamy emotional goodness with all of the Z Corps antics readers love. I laughed and cried in equal measure.

Theo is so protective and bossy. He has some misplaced guilt from past events and Bridget is the perfect person to help him process and start to heal. I love these two! (*the pinkies)

This one wraps up really fast with a ton of action and a satisfying HEA packed into the final chapters.

The cameos from previous characters made me ridiculously happy. No Z Corps book is complete without the Dimple King.

I am very excited for the rest of Silver Team to get their books and I really hope we find out more about Theo’s brother.

It would have been way better without the raunchy sex scenes. Not romantic at all. I'm not going to rate it though since I skimmed past all those parts and read it pretty quickly. So maybe I missed the essence of it. It pretty much just read like porn to me. Its a shame because he was an interesting character.

Fantastic

Another great start to another series. I loved the cameos of old characters (Zane is back and my crush deepens) without taking over a new series. It makes me want to go back and revisit all the previous books again. I'm excited to see where this goes next.

I would have loved a little more closure in regards to Theo's family/brother but am hoping that was just left open for the future. Other than that, I couldn't have asked for more between Theo and Bridget.

New team.
New alphas to love.
More Zane.

Honestly, Riley Edwards delivers nothing less than excellence. Heart. Humor. Heroes...and with those heroes comes HEAT. Lots of it! Every book leaves you wanting more.

Cannot wait for Easton's book.

Woop! Silver Team are here. I’ve never met a Riley Edwards book boyfriend I didn’t like (well love) and Theo is no exception. I confess I had a different picture/version of Theo in my head to the reality but it doesn’t matter he was simply better.
Theo spent weeks watching over Bridget, suppressing his feelings for the smart, spirited, straight-up woman until she disappeared into WITSEC, just one more regret to add to the the demons and mountain of guilt from his past, all the actions and decisions we took for the ‘greater good’ that haunt him.
Bridget gave up her whole life to do the right thing and when the past finds her she flees to find Theo instinctively knowing he will keep her safe.
Now she is back in his life Theo is determined to both protect Bridget and this time keep her. I loved these two as a couple, they are stronger together, they are just right. A woman stronger than she thinks, her growly protector with a soft side just for her, they have each other’s backs. Plenty of heat, action, a plot that thickens, fun and banter of course as this is Z Corps - perfection. Totally recommend this book and can’t wait for Easton’s story.

this book was… fine. and i mean that in the most neutral, unmemorable way possible.

not bad enough to rant about (well—almost), not good enough to recommend, and definitely not memorable enough to stick with me. i’m writing this weeks after finishing it, and the only thing i can confidently recall is the mmc’s name—and that’s only because it’s literally the title of the book.

the story itself? blur. the romance? vaguely there. the emotional impact? nonexistent. it’s the kind of book you read, finish, and then it quietly exits your brain like it was never there to begin with. no lasting scenes, no standout dialogue, no “oh i need to tell someone about this moment.” just… vibes. and not even strong ones.

but okay, fine. not every book needs to change my life. sometimes “fine” is enough.

however.

i have a very specific bone to pick with this, and it’s the thing that genuinely annoyed me the most: this is technically not the first book in a series. and yes, goodreads tells you that. but what it doesn’t fully prepare you for is that this isn’t just “book one of a series.” it’s like… the fourth series that branched off from a previous series, which had its own characters, who now have their own books, and now those characters are showing up here, and i sort of hate that.

because what ends up happening is that you’re thrown into a world that already feels established—but not in a welcoming way. in a “you should already know these people and care about them” way. there are so many characters being introduced, referenced, name-dropped, emotionally emphasized, and i’m just sitting there like… who are you.

you get entire moments where the narrative pauses to remind you that this person is like a sister, that guy is like family, this couple is so in love, these kids are adorable, everyone is deeply connected, everyone matters—

and i could not care less, because i don’t know them!

more importantly, this book does absolutely nothing to make me want to know them. it just assumes that i already do. it feels less like a standalone story and more like a reward package for longtime readers. like, “hey! remember your favorite couple from three series ago? here they are again! look how happy they are!”

okay. great. happy for them. truly. but why am i here?

it creates this really frustrating reading experience where the focus keeps drifting away from the actual main characters—the ones i’m supposed to be invested in—and toward a parade of cameos that exist purely for nostalgia. and the worst part is that these cameos don’t feel natural. they don’t feel like they serve the story, they just feel like fan service.

like, you get namedropped! and you get namedropped! and you get a whole scene about how cool you are because apparently you were a popular character in another book i didn’t read!

it pulls you out of the story every single time.

if you’re writing a new book, focus on the characters in that book. build their relationships. give them depth. don’t rely on the emotional weight of characters from previous series to carry moments that should’ve been developed here.

and listen, i’m not against interconnected universes. i actually love when authors bring back previous couples or reference past characters—but it has to feel intentional. it has to serve a purpose. it has to add something to the current story.

some of my favorite books (hi, tessa dare) do this really well. characters from previous books show up, but they have a role. they contribute to the plot. they don’t take over the narrative or expect you to already be emotionally invested in them.

here, it just feels excessive, like the book is more interested in reminding you of everything else the author has written than in making this story stand on its own.

underneath all of that, there could’ve been a decent romance. maybe even a good one. but it never gets the space to fully develop, because it’s constantly competing with a cast of characters that don’t belong to this story.

so yeah. overall: fine, forgettable, and mildly frustrating.

if you’ve read all the previous series, you might have a better time with this. you might recognize everyone, feel that sense of continuity, enjoy the little updates on past couples, but if you’re coming into this fresh, good luck. and maybe keep a family tree nearby. you’re going to need it.

Do all dreams end in disaster?

Both Bridget and Theo would say yes, all their dreams have so far ended up shattered and broken, costing them everything. But with as much as they have lost they know that when they find something good they need to hold tight and fight with everything they are to keep it. Theo and Bridget together are more than good, they are sizzling hot, feisty, funny and perfect. She 'gets' him, the life he has lead, the decisions he has made and the regrets he has, the only thing she doesn't get is his guilt. It's a demon he is fighting and punishing himself with again and again. They are a great couple and I love the relationship she has formed with his team too, especially Easton, they are like teasing siblings.
We see many sides of both Theo and Bridget here but undoubtedly the best is the two of them together. And as much as I love Theo, for me the hero of the book is Troy!
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Riley has broken me with this book. I have not been able to pick up another book for DAYS, that's how much of an epic, emotional read this book was.

First, let's talk Bridget. Bridget is funny, smart, sassy and has excellent survivor skills. Her faith in Theo is so big; she follows her intuition and that pays of in a huge way.
Then there's Theo. Who we have met earlier, and I can't get over how swoony Theo is. He is not letting his girl go and he just goes for it, no second guessing, no hard to get, no doubts. Just this:

" But I’d already made up my mind about one thing—this time I wasn’t letting her go without a fight."
Edwards, Riley. Theo (Silver Team Book 1) (p. 30). Rebels Romance. Kindle Edition.

I can go on for days raving about how much I loved this book and how big my book hangover is. Truth is, you should just read it. You will not be disappointed.
Make yourself some tea and keep the tissues close, because Riley had me crying at the dedication.

Love you Riley, and thanks for this book!

This was Theo.

Bring on the Silver Team! I absolutely loved this book; it has all the feels. From humor, wit, Zane-isms, danger, romance, steam, suspense, and more I was hooked from the first page. I adored Trucker Troy and Easton. Theo and Bridget were so amazing together; their conversations and interactions so real and honest with each other. It was great that there were no miscommunications, no misdirects, or secrets between them. They shared, felt, and experienced the entirety of their relationship together – good and bad, best and worst moments. And the pinkies together…just oh my gosh…emotional and perfect for the two of them all the way. This was an amazing story and a great kickoff to the new team. I am totally invested in this new series and cannot wait for more!

I love, love, love Theo!! Every hero gets better and better. Theo….battered by life. Carrying so much guilt. Bridget…hiding from someone who thought she had a secret. Scared but not alone because she had Theo, until she didn’t. But when trouble came, she risked it all to find Theo. These two are quite the pair and made for an amazing story! Absolutely loved it!! Can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Theo

The thing about Riley is that she writes about teams. It is hardly ever just one on one about anything. Teamwork says it all. You don't need to know about any of the other books, it is all discussed enough to clue you in. There is not a solid happy ending but things do get calmed down somewhat.
I like Theo and Bridget together.

Fantastic

Ok I was in a total reading slump but I never miss a Riley Edwards book so I thought I'd just try to read a little. 2 hours later and I have finished an awesome book and have cured the reading slump. This book is super low on emotional angst and just a quick thrill ride with an HEA and a desire to believe the best in others.

Theo and Bridget

This is a fantastic read! It grabbed me with the dedication and didn’t let up to the end. I couldn’t put it down. Theo and Bridget are both people who have been unalived officially, are still breathing and try to navigate their world. Together, along with Z Corps, they are intent on keeping Bridget breathing. I absolutely loved Trucker Troy and Easton was his usual teasing self. This had some serious steamy dominate scenes and will have you breathless. You definitely need to read this one!

Riley has done it again

Wow, wow, holy wow. Z corp is heating up with the Silver Team. I am beyond invested in learning all the things about this group and this is just the beginning!! I adore Theo, especially how protective he is with Bridget. When he’s in, there’s no turning back and nothing will stand in his way. Riley has set a new bar with this book and I can’t wait to see how far she raises it with the next!!

WITNESS PROTECTION…..YEAH, RIGHT!!

Theo was the only one who could keep Bridget safe. The Marshalls Service was a joke, information leaks as big as a football field. Lots of twists and intrigue, and plenty of sizzling romance.
Very highly recommend.

Pinkies together

Bridget has gone into WITSEC but someone still found her. She knows she needs to find Theo to be safe but she has to hitchhike to get there. She makes it to Theo and her run to safety begins.

Mixed in while running for safety is Zane's wit and banter between the team. Riley is a great writer, her characters have depth and all have a wide range of emotional depth. This was the start of a new series with some character overlap but a new story.

I loved this.

Theo protected Bridget before she went into WITSEC and fell in love. Bridget in WITSEC is attacked and asked "what did you see", when a neighbor intervenes and she runs it is Theo that she has to get to to be safe. A story full of suspense, action, good men who protect and a brave woman on the run.
Great job Riley Edwards!!!

Another brilliant book

This book is everything you could ask for. Theo and Bridget were made for each other and the dialogue between them on heavy topics is beautifully crafted. As always there’s great one liners , Zane in his element and family built from bonds not of blood. A must read.

dark horse

Oh Theo you dark horse you…..

I adored this book and of course now crave more of the silver team. What a fantastic launch into a series it was with believable, engrossing and desirable characters all around.

Reunited with Bridget, Theo takes the shot he should have taken when he first guarded her. Gutted she found herself in danger again, he vows to protect her and keep her with him, hopefully forever.

But the path is never easy, especially for any of the Z Corps men and of course Bridget shows her deep inner strength by not only accepting, but committing to work through all the rooted issues Theo wrongfully holds within him.

I adored the MC’s here and thought the story was fantastic. Added icing on top was more Zane, Kira, various team members and strangely the twin terrors that brought levity where needed.

Excited for Easton

Ok so updated review because I’ve now listened to the audio of this book and oh my goodness it’s just amazing. I
These are new narrators to me but wow do they bring life to this book. The tension, heat and fear are just so well portrayed you start getting heart palpitations.

An amazing read and an even better listen

Silver Team🥈

Theo is the first book in the Silver Team series and it’s soooooo good to be back in Z Corps World❣️

Theo along with the other guys he’s worked with are assigned to a protection detail. Bridget is the person being protected, after she blew the whistle on some illegal activities the company she worked for was indulging in😳

Fast forward, Bridget is in witness protection and someone manages to find her. She flees knowing there is only one man who can keep her safe….Theo😍

Loved this story and I can’t wait to find out what Easton has put his hand up for🙈

Nope

I'm only 60% through but I'm not loving it. I feel like the whole story is being told in past tense. We missed the party where they fell in love because it happens before the book starts. The conversations feel like monologs at times. It feels like most of the story is being told instead of experienced.

I struggled to read this. It was confusing. It was a bit boring. I couldn't keep up with the story line. They also fell in love before the book starts and they talk a lot when its unnecessary for that scene. Theres just way too much going on. I also didn't feel the "love" or the "connection" between the FMC and MMC. I got to about 60% then i scanned through so i could get it over with.

4.5!

Felt a little short just based on how much there could really be for a story following Theo but I ultimately really enjoyed this! I love that we’re getting into the Patheon/Silver team boys now and I’m especially excited for the next book!
