This is a very well written children’s book about our current flag. It gives a few facts of our flag history as well as how to respect and carry our flag. It also mentions the Star Spangled Banner as well as the Pledge of Allegiance. Every parent should read this little golden book to their child(ren).

I checked out the ebook edition of this book from the library because of Miss Muffet's recent interest in flags and geography. It's a bit difficult to read it with her on a screen so we may need to track down a hard copy at some point, but it covers everything I would want in a basic book about the U.S. flag. Memling covers the history behind the stars and stripes of the flag, as well as information about the national anthem, and the words to the pledge of allegiance. There are also historical details about the American Revolution, the Civil War, and World War II and appearances by important figures such as Betsy Ross and George Washington. The book also provides a list of rules for handling the flag, and the three situations in which the flag must be saluted. It's a great first introduction to American history (and patriotism) for preschool and kindergarten kids, and though it is from the 1960s, it's perfectly accurate and appropriate for a 21st century audience.

Young readers will enjoy this short but informative history of the American flag with bright and colorful illlustrations of colonial life, Betsy Ross and George Washington, Fort McHenry, and many others. Included are illustrated instructions on flag etiquette, as well as the Pledge of Allegiance.
I would use this book in a young elementary classroom that is learning about the history of the flag and how to say the pledge of allegiance.

A great read for flag day. Clear and simple, but engaging. Just the perfect level for my 6 and 8 year old.

This book offers a great overview of the history of the American flag. From the Revolutionary War to the Civil War to the present day, it covers the changes that the flag has gone through to look the way it does today. It also covers flag etiquette, which isn't common knowledge now as much as it once was.

This book would be a great addition to a Civics lesson. It is brief enough to keep the attention of a class, but detailed enough to provide good information. I would use it to open the door for discussion in my classroom about the importance of national flags and symbols and what they represent for different nations.

Well that's officially the most American book I've ever read my child. He informed me, "but not our flag because it's not Japan's flag." So we discussed dual nationalities again. I was surprised by his interest in the historical bits but fighting is big with preschoolers. Other highlight was hearing about sewing the first flag since mom is constantly sewing this holiday break. Oh and the pledge was such a foreign concept. Was very skeptical kids do that.

Super old book, but very informative. A little too busy illustration wise. But it is a nice patriotic book to read to my son so I bought it. Overall my rating is a solid 3 stars.

This book would be a great addition to any early elementary school classroom. This book tells the story of our flag and how it has evolved over time. The book has wonderful illustrations and describes the early days of the United States of America. The text is relatively simple but does a good job explaining about the evolution and importance of our flag. This book would make an excellent interactive read-aloud or small group activity.

This is an informative book about the different states' flags in America. Children will enjoy learning about these flags due to the illustrations given.
This is a good book for preschoolers and or kindergarten. I would use this in a classroom setting by introducing American history. This book teaches about the national anthem, the pledge of allegiance, the mysterious why about the stars on the U.S flag, Civil War and World War.
