I’m crushing on my boss. An older, single-dad grump who walked out on me the day we met. Still, every time he enters a room, my pulse races. How long can I pretend our relationship is strictly professional?

Our first encounter is nothing like I imagined.
He’s broody, rude, merciless, and seems to hate my guts.

Not only does he walks out on me, but he gives me attitude I don’t deserve. Being almost ten years older than me doesn’t give him an excuse to be arrogant.

Luckily for me, I’m here for the job. And the experience. Not to fall in love.

I should resign from my nanny position and leave the man who has a rock instead of a heart behind.

But a little voice in my head tells me that with me in his corner, maybe he can get back at the top where he belongs.

Emmanuelle Snow brings you a romance that’s not your typical love story. Read with a box of tissues. Or two.

Formerly Legend and Country (Carter Hills Band 7), now part 2 of the Lonesome Heart Duet.

I absolutely adore Emmanuelle Snow - all of her books (I’ve read all 7 Carter Hills Band series now), and her as a person. She’s just so incredible! A brilliant author (amazing!), and such a kind and beautiful person.

Legend and Country - WOW! This one has so much depth, so many layers and emotions … so much going on here. It really needs all 580 pages for you to experience everything and heal along with the characters.

Sam, musician extraordinaire (nickname “Legend”, formerly friend of the Carter Hills Band, and who we know from previous books, a tiny bit), left the country music scene when his wife left him and his two very young daughters because being a wife and mom just wasn’t for her, leaving behind three broken people.

Fast forward two years, and Riley (manager), who we know and love from the previous books, tries to bring Sam back from the depths of depression and barely surviving, by getting him to think about getting back into music and touring again, with a nanny he’s heard of. Enter Madison… who changed everything, even though she’s had a hard life, and things continue being extremely difficult with twists that no one could have ever predicted (because every Emmanuelle Snow book has to have extreme circumstances that bring out all the tears, even for this non-emotional reader, and that’s just life)!!

It’s absolutely incredible, heart-wrenching, a tearjerker (get your tissues, chocolate and wine ready!), and you won’t want to put it down so make sure you have a really long block of time free. One of her absolute best, and one of the very best books around, and probably of this whole year (yeah, I know it’s only January)!

I received an advance review copy from the author, and this is my honest feedback.

"Madison Prescott was the music in my life. More real than any note on a sheet of paper could ever be. More than any chords from my guitar."

Sam Stevens thought he had it all and was on top of the world until one night it all crashed down. His wife walked right out the door on him and their little girls without so much as a glance back at them. It has taken him two years to get back to a somewhat normal life. One day his friend Riley shows up and tells him it is time to make music again. Sam is very straight with Riley telling him the girls come first and if he wants him to do a six month tour the girls are to be with him which results in Riley hiring a nanny. The last thing Sam expected was to be rocked to his core when his eyes lock with the nanny for the first time.

Madison Prescott has lived a life mostly on by herself other than her sister and her parents. She has agreed to meet with the country superstar who needs a nanny for his little girls and is taken aback by his reaction to her. After being offered and accepting the job she gradually starts spending time with Sam and his girls. She doesn't miss the way her body reacts to him when he is in close proximity to her nor does she miss him sneaking glimpses at her from time to time because she does it to.

These two....oh boy these two with the push and pull between them. The tension that is so freaking hot I thought my kindle would melt. This has got to be the slowest burn I have ever read in my life but I was there for all of it. I loved the many, many moments these two would have and you would think they were finally going to give in and it didn't happen. I found myself wanting to yell at them but then I realized that by the author having all these "almost" moments with them it build their story so much more, it made it that much better. POSSIBLE SPOILER...............these two fall in love without ever even having an actual date. Their attraction is so intense that just by being around each other 24/7 and trying not to fall in love has them falling in love. It is so beautiful!

Of course, if you are familiar with Emmanuelle Snow's works you KNOW it is never an easy ride for her couples. Sam and Maddie were a little bit more gentle on the readers. I honestly thought I was going to get through one of her books with my emotions in tact and then I was smacked in the face with emotions (that tends to happen with her books). I will admit I thought she was going somewhere else with the story and I am so glad she didn't go the direction I thought.

Legend and Country is a tale of single dad getting a chance at real love and a young woman finally having someone lover her the way a man should love a woman. Maddie fills the void that Sam's ex-wife left within his heart and his daughters! This story that will have you reaching for your tissues and possibly cursing Ms. Snow a couple times will leave you with a happy heart when it is all said and done!

This is book 2 in Sam and Maddie's story, and let me tell you, the anxiousness to get on to this book after finishing the last one, Fallen Legend, did not leave me disappointed. We dropped right back into this angsty tense situation between Sam and Maddie and you get to watch the ebb and flow between them as they fight the draw between them and the urges that they are struggling to control. The tour dates are nearing and everyone is preparing for the transition and despite their better judgement Sam asks that Maddie move in full time, to prepare for the eventual move on to the tour bus.

The tension continues to grow between Sam and Maddie but in all the best ways- until it snaps. Sam can no longer be the little dutch boy with his finger in the dam. He lets it flow and it's magic. Watching Maddie get closer to his girls solidifies his feelings for her. Unfortunately, one week before they are scheduled to leave on tour, life shows everyone how unpredictable it can be and it leaves Sam scrambling to make some important decisions. Their lives will be changed for ever, and he has to choose between what his heart wants and what his head knows is the right thing to do.

There was literally a point in this book, where I was looking at how much more I had to read in this story and deciding that things were going too well. I stopped and put the book down and was like, I do not have it in me right now to watch you two go through what we both know is coming. I had to call my book bestie Sara, who turned me onto this author and ask, Is she a masochist, does she believe in HEA's? Because I am so invested right now that if things aren't a princess perfect HEA I don't know how I can continue reading. I need to live in my bubble of ignorance. She reassured me that all will be well, and my heart will survive but I should have a box of tissues and maybe some chocolate nearby. She was right. So if you're in it for the HEA, we got you boo!

Maddie and Sam's story moved me to tears several times in this book. We finally learn a bit more about Maddie's story and we see her struggle hard and them try to navigate these difficult waters together. I was about to get full on MAD when Jacob reappeared, but I think it was a necessary catalyst for Maddie at the stage of healing she was in.

As a mother I was loving the daddy side of Sam and seeing how Maddie loved his girls unconditionally melted his heart and mine. I know that is not everyone's cup of tea, so if you don't like kids, don't read it...it's not for you.

I think I found a new favorite author to read through her back list. Because now I need to know everyone else's stories too! Emmanuelle Snow pulls at your heartstrings in the best ways. She writes complex characters with complex emotions and relatable stories. Which is crazy because this is a celebrity romance.... It's just so well done.

Every Emmanuelle Snow book I read, I keep thinking to myself, they cant get better and more completely heart wrenching then this, right? WRONG. Legend and Country is a true emotional rollercoaster that is the perfect blend of women's fiction, contemporary, romance and spice.

Sam "The Legend" Stevens is angry, grumpy and mad at the world - and he has every right to be, his wife left him and their two young girls without any reason, leaving him to be the sole caregiver. As he is a country singer, he hires Maddie, a nanny to take care of the girls. Maddie's positive attitude starts to rub off on Sam. Romance ensues.

Emmanuelle has this uncanny way of creating characters that feel so completely realized, that when they experience emotions and experiences, you share in their trauma, in their happiness and in their pain. The very first chapter I had tears in my eyes, which is quite a feat! This book was a perfect slow burn - the romance and spice was perfect, but the emotional connection was even better. I have always loved the way that Emmanuelle is able to create such deep connections between characters - this heavily realized through themes of healing, centering, chasing dreams, understanding and empathy. It really does go beyond the traditional romance.

There were some of my FAVORITE tropes - such as age-gap, grumpy-sunshine, forced-proximity, slow burn, second-chance-romance and my new favorite dad-nanny heyyyy. I have also added another book boyfriend to the roster - and can I say, I have never had ANY interests in Country romances, yet here I am, every time Emmanuelle has a book come out, completely devouring it. I am 100% a convert.

Thank you Emmanuelle for sending me this ARC - all the thoughts in this review are my own <3

(Formerly Legend and Country)

“Whether we want it or not, we’re tied together by some invisible thread neither of us can escape.”

Emmanuelle Snow has done it again! Legend and Country is an epic rockstar, single dad & the nanny romance. This powerful, heartwarming, slow-burn love story will break your heart on page one and slowly piece it back together. I live on the fence when it comes to age-gap romance; though nine years is not a big difference in the grand scheme, it all depends on the ages and seasons of life of the main characters. Though Maddie and Sam are in vastly different life stages, her life experiences, brilliance, and worldliness have shaped her into a dynamic character with a maturity beyond her twenty-one years. Sam’s recent devastation sent him on a path of robotic routine, his daughters the only joy in his life. Until he meets the effervescent, enchanting Maddie. Her beguiling, endearing, kindhearted nature brings light to his daughters’ lives and melts the icy walls around Sam’s heart. I loved Sam and Maddie’s sizzling chemistry and journey to their hard-fought HEA. Emmanuelle threads music through each story of the Carter Hills Band series and I love every lyric! Mikaella and Justine are darling kids who instantly steal Maddie’s heart. Legend and country is a heart-wrenching, refreshing, and lovely opposites attract, age-gap romance.

There's three things you need to know before you start this book.

One: keep tissues near you. You'll need them.

Two: be prepared for a gut punch right off the bat. Emmanuelle starts this book off on a sad note.

Three: do not read this book in public if you blush while reading spicy scenes.

I thought Princess and Country was a tear jerker but Sam's story will shatter your heart and crush your soul. They'll slowly get pieced back together as you learn to love again along with Sam.

I'm giving this book 4.5 stars because in the first few chapters, there's a lot of rambling. However, once you get farther into the book, the story blossoms. Maddie and Sam's story is beautiful. Full of tragedy hope and love. And you can't help but lose your heart to Sam Stevens.

The father.
The man.
The legend.

Sam and Madison’s story is one that will pull every emotion you have out of you shatter your heart then mend it back together. Sam is doing all he can to keep it together and be the best father to his girls he can, but he realizes he does need extra help and that’s when Madison comes into the picture. Madison becomes an essential part of Sam and his girl’s lives as their nanny, but when the attraction is high they fight it as much as they can before it implodes. This story will have you crying one second while laughing the next and dying to know where it will take you. This author knows how to write emotions that are so real the characters and situations feel so real and you want to be the one to console them and hold them tightly. I can’t wait for more.

Needs a good editor

This is a good story even if it is a bit too detailed.and it drove me nuts whenever I came across a word being used in the wrong context, or where it felt as if Emmanuelle was just making up words. Sam and Maddie are so good together, but they sure do let a lot of unnecessary obstacles get in their way. I love Riley - he's the best friend anyone could ask for, but there were times I wanted to scream, "stop being a doormat." This could have been a 5-star review if the author had just found a really good editor.

Emmanuelle has a way of writing characters that are very relatable. I was so immersed in their story. I cried, laughed, got nervous, worried, and sad. All the emotions. Their story was absolutely beautiful. I can honestly say there is not one story or couple I love more than the other because they each have such strong and amazing stories in their own ways.
Emmanuelle writes such strong woman.

This book was better than the first, but I feel the drama was unnecessary and out of character at points.

The end was as feel good as it comes, again with some rogue details but it was a happy ending, and a cheesy love story. If that’s the vibe you’re looking for go for it.

[3 Stars😒] I picked up Emmanuelle Snow's Fallen Legend as part of Amazon's Stuff Your Kindle Day because the premise intrigued me. However, I felt let down by the dialogue and writing. Overall, this story was forgettable, but because Fallen Legend ended on a cliffhanger, I rolled into Rising Star. The story was marginally better, and I liked the story's conclusion, but I'm unsure if Emmanuelle Snow's writing is for me.
