Hat Trick
A retired cop plans to run naked down the field during the present-day Army/Navy football game believing this will atone for a fumble made years ago in the same college classic, but with his ego in the way, and two sidekicks running interference by his side, it would be a miracle if they make it past three-dozen security guards. His two side-kicks have goals themselves. One is inflicted with a peeing problem and must get an operation if he wants to piss like a race horse again, and the other, whose wife has died early on in the story, wants to prove his impotency is only temporary.

Enjoyed this story!
Robert Gately writes a dramatic novella about old friends with Hat Trick. This novella should be read by all, especially those, like myself, who hit that fifty mark and wonder about the future. The reader is introduced to Jim, Dusty and Walter. Each has something interesting, Healthwise, wrong with them, and it seems to be part of the story, and how these three men see their lives and the future. Jim, an African American, is best friends with Dusty and Walter, who are Caucasian. The diverse characters have a lot in common, and any group of friends, is a gift. They all see that they're hitting what they believe is the limits of middle age. The narrator pointed out how Dustin had a "peeing" problem, Walter was impotent with a dying wife, and Jim, regrets one thing in his life, that he believes is the worst thing he ever did. He did a football fumble, when he was playing for Navy. The three men lived at the retirement center, and reflect on life, and make plans for what they really want to do. This story reminded me a lot of the movies where older men, as friends, were trying to live the rest of their years fully. I really enjoyed this story. If you love a good best friends story, no matter how old you are, this book should be next on your list. This journey was very unpredictable. Hat Trick is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I read this book to give my unbiased and honest review. Amy's Bookshelf Reviews recommends that anyone who reads this book, to also write a review.
