Hosta Falls #3

Falling For His Fake Girlfriend

Rate this book
Fake dating wasn't supposed to be this difficult...it also wasn't supposed to include sharing one bed with her best friend's brother.

Natalie Gresham has been left by her mom abandoned her, her dad died, and now, her best friend and roommate is getting married to the love of her life. The only thing going for her is her longtime fake boyfriend, who’s available to stand in at parties and family events to keep any mention of real love at bay.

Kyle Palmer vowed he would never date another woman after his ex cheated on him with his cousin. When his little sister had suggested that he bring her best friend Natalie as a fake date to a family event over a year ago, it turned out to be a mutually beneficial lie.

When the pretend lovebirds arrive at his sister's destination wedding, they find out their room only has one bed. Keeping things platonic become a lot harder when they're sharing a cozy cabin with unlimited amounts of hot chocolate, scheming sisters, and the added pressure of his cheating ex's attendance. Giving into the romance and Christmas spirit seems inevitable, and they're forced to confront their fears and real feelings about this "fake" relationship...and survive this never-ending family vacation.

Gabrielle Landi lives in Southern Indiana with her husband and children and has a soft spot for every stray cat that ends up on her front porch. When she’s not writing, she spends her time chasing children, wishing there was more coffee, and eating chocolate like it’s her job. If she had to write her own love story in tropes, it would include second chance romance and a secret relationship, and would be entirely unbelievable.

I was an ARC reader for this book and let me tell you it's, GOOD. I finished it in about 3 hours and I didn't wanna put it down. Natalie was such an easy character to fall in love with as the reader. I felt myself connecting with her through the pages almost immediately. And Kyle is such a sweetheart. ❤️ The found family trope melted my heart. 🫠 And just the siblings' banter and relationship with each other made me crack up many times. This book brought all the Christmas is a time to be in love vibes and the best part: it's clean. I'm not the biggest fan of spicey books and this one brought all the fun, flirty tension without any of the detailed written out stuff.
Quick overview of the book: Natalie is healing from some things that happened in her past and so is Kyle. The two have known each other for years (through Kyle's sister, so its a my sister's best friend type of vibe, we love it) and they decided, about 2 years ago, to start a mutually beneficial fake relationship. As they keep up the ruse, the lines quickly begin to blur when they're on vacation during Christmas at a resort where the best friend/sister is going to get married.

Omgoodness, this was a very cute story of childhood friends. And to see them grow and the lil hurdles they had along the way. I was like, nooo then i was like oooo yes. And Ashley, i wanted to hurt her.

Got this book as an ARC and read the book in less than 24 hrs, I couldn’t put it down. The characters were very relatable and the Palmer family was a lot of fun! I was rooting for Natalie and Kyle to make it official the whole time, they were the perfect balance of each other. The relationships between all the characters was very heart warming and added so much to the story.

I really enjoyed Kyle and Natalie’s love story! Kyle was a very sweet fake boyfriend and the setup of their relationship was unusual in that they had a pre-established fake relationship that happened organically. I loved how much they cared about each other. However, I was slightly annoyed by the use of the miscommunication trope but other than that this was a very lovely romance! Thanks to the author for my ARC; all opinions are mine.

i received this book as an arc and im so happy i got to read it! the only thing i will say is that im sad im reading it in october and not december as this would be the PERFECT little christmas read to snuggle up with💘but apart from that this book was such a cute fluffy romance for the festive season!!

kyle and natalie both decide to start fake dating and it develops into something more.. i loved their connection from the beginning of the book, the way their love was beautiful even when it was platonic and how quickly it developed into something more serious once they both overcome some of their traumas.

the palmer family is so amazing and sweet and really made this book feel even more cosy. it was so sweet the way they welcomed natalie into their family when her dad passed away and made her feel like one of them🥹 i felt myself wishing i was a part of the book when they were all doing christmas activities together and celebrating the new year🤍

this is the only book ive read from gabrielle landi but she has other books about the characters from this book too so it’s definitely a series im interested in reading at some point😊

the way natalie reassured and comforted kyle about his trauma and the way kyle really looked out for natalie’s mental health just showed how much these two really care about eachother💞the ending of this book was so cute and i loved reading the bonus chapter too!!

tropes: found family, fake dating, he falls first, christmas romance & miscommunication

✨ARC Review ✨

Any thoughts expressed are my own. Thanks Gabrielle for the opportunity to read another one of your releases.

📖 Falling for His Fake Girlfriend x Gabrielle Landi (Released November 15 - Available Now)

We are dropped back into Hosta Falls and meet Kyle Palmer and Natalie Gresham. Natalie is pretending to date her friend Kyle after observing him go through a heartbreak from a previous relationship. However, Natalie is also like family to Kyle after his family has taken her in as an adoptive daughter after losing her family. However, we see Kyle and Natalie spending a week at a cabin while they navigate keeping up the rouse for his family. To top it off his ex-girlfriend will be partaking in the week’s festivities.

I loved the attention to detail Gabrielle provided to the atmosphere of the story. Christmas is the overall background of the story and the activities the Palmers had planned and the family time are absolutely heartwarming. I could picture my own family partaking in the plans that were lined up for the week. It did take sometime for me to get into the story though. To me the story was slow moving and I didn’t really start flipping through until the last 15-20% of the book. Kyle and Natalie’s story was adorable but I wish it was little bit of a quicker pace.

I was an ARC reader for this book, and I’m glad I did it. I’ve never read a book by Gabrielle Landi before, and I’d probably read some of her other books after this.

The story between Natalie and Kyle was so cute and heartwarming. They both fell in love while pretending to be in love. Ironic, right?
While I hate the miscommunication trope with a passion, I enjoyed that it didn’t take them long to come back together and get it worked out. I was annoyed at some points with our main characters because it just seemed like they let their fears and past dictate how they lived. I completely understand Natalie’s point, but at times I felt like she was being childish and gaslighting Kaitlyn because she didn’t want her to leave her. Everyone also felt sorry for her, but I wasn’t buying it honestly. Kyle’s ex cheated on him, and he couldn’t get over it. They both gave excuses as to why they couldn’t be together because they couldn’t get over their past?

I have one word for both of these characters: THERAPY

Regardless of how I feel about those things. I really enjoyed the found family trope and how connected the characters were throughout the story. The bond between them was really strong and nice to see. Also, I’ve never read a book that was centered around a holiday like this, so that was really cool. I love Christmas and seeing them all together celebrating was great!!

Thank you Gabrielle for letting me read your book 💐💓

First and foremost, I am going to start this off by saying I received this as an ARC and I am leaving my review voluntarily. Secondly, I want to just say this is the first book that I have read by Gabrielle Landi, and to say the least, I am getting ready to start another one of her books shortly after these other ARCs are posted. I also want to add that this is a different type of novel I have not read in a few years and am not mad about it. This book put me in the Christmas mood and I truly mean that. I just got all my decorations and tree out to start decorating over the next few days. The only sad thing is that I wish I was reading this novel somewhere in snowy weather in the middle of December and I will make that happen once it is released. At least I drank hot chocolate while reading. 🎄☕️

This book is such a cute, festive, and romantic book. I will be honest it is one of my favorite holiday novels right now. I loved the characters, Natalie and Kyle. The dynamics of the two was well written and I loved how the relationship between the two progressed throughout the book. It reminds me of a best friend or brother/sister friend trope vibe. Which, who doesn’t love that? Drama? Secrets? Etc. The traumas that were made and shared between Kyle and Natalie were so sad, yet, cute. Natalie comforting Kyle about his trauma was so sweet and I found myself smiling and wanting to even shed a tear or two. But she was not the only one that showed sympathy, Kyle also grew to want to help her with her mental health. That is just something that we all would love to find in a partner. We cannot forget how everyone was there for Natalie when her father passed away, which hit some heartstrings. Everything that Kyle, Natalie, and the rest of the Palmer family did during the holidays will make you want and crave the warmth, fun, caring, and loving feels of the season. However, does it last? You will have to just wait and see. 👀

Thank you, Gabrielle Landi, for giving me the chance to review this amazing book. I cannot wait to read some of your previous writing and order Falling for His Fake Girlfriend once it is released.🤍

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is book 3 in the Hosta Falls Series and can be read as a standalone. The book's blurb gives you an idea of what to expect. It's a good dual pov fake dating romance.

After experiencing the loss that she has, Natalie is scared to have a relationship. She takes comfort in being accepted by the Palmer family and her fake relationship with Kyle. His last relationship made him want to avoid one but dating Natalie is easy as she's been a part of his family for years and it makes his mom happy. As they spend more time together for his sister's wedding, they both wonder if they can overcome their feelings about relationships.

While Natalie and Kyle were fake dating, they were friends as well. Growing up together made them know each other better than they realized. They were sweet to each other. Their romance was a clean one consisting of kissing only and no curse words but maybe a few words that some readers could consider choice words. There is a bit of drama and miscommunication but the story is a quick read. Overall, this is an easy read.

I am a bit confused as to how to label this book. While I really enjoyed the story line (I love fake relationships turning real), and I LOVED the main family in the book, there were a lot of things in it that I didn’t care for. Basically, it was not clean enough for me romance-wise. There was a lot of kissing I could have done without as well as sharing a room when it wasn’t really needed. (Had they tried, they certainly could have avoided it pretty neatly.) There were also veiled references to pre marital relations. Deception was also kind of key throughout. Since I am pretty black-and-white, this rubbed me the wrong way on top of the romance aspect.

One other thing I didn’t care for was how alcohol was treated. While I’m not anti-alcohol, I prefer it be limited. There are fairly frequent references to alcohol and at least one instance of characters being tipsy and drunk.

BUT, again, I did enjoy the story (I read it in one sitting, finishing after 3 AM) and of course there is a HEA. I also have it on good authority that the other books in the series are not to the same level romance-wise, so I am checking out Falling For Her Client next!

I LOVE 😍this series so much and this book was such a good addition📚. Gabrielle Landi is able to create such fun 🤩 characters who you immediately fall for 🥰 .

Natalie. Her best friend is getting married 💍 and yet another person she loves is leaving 😔 . Except her fake boyfriend 👀 . He’s not leaving, not yet anyways. And not when they have to share a bed 🛌 the whole week. Especially not when their kisses 💋 start feeling a lot more real.

Kyle. He’s fake dating his little sisters best friend and falling for her 🥹. But after his ex cheated on him with his cousin 😡 , he’s not willing to put his heart 💔 on the line again, even when Natalie starts working his way into his heart❤️.

After a week in each others company during a Christmas 🎄 and wedding 💒 the emotions are charged 🥵 . This book made me cry 😭 , laugh 😂 , yell 😡, and giggle 🤭 . Their flirting and kissing and midnight snack ☕️ runs Ah! So good. If you’re wanting a fun Christmas 🎅🏼 book, this is definitely one you should read!

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review and OMG this book is so freaking cute! Really has a good holiday feel to it. Brought me out of my seasonal depression. Wish I was reading it closer to Christmas 🥰 Has a very Hallmark Christmas movie feel to it! I also wished it was longer as I thoroughly enjoyed it. Natalie and Kyle are adorable. I read this in one sitting because I was obsessed with seeing them bond and fall for each other. Also this has no spice which is a huge bonus for me! This was my first book by Gabrielle and I WILL be reading everything else she wrote or will write from here on out! Thanks for the opportunity to read it first!!!

Unfortunately this book just wasn’t for me. Our MMC was a complete idiot and I really disliked his possessive nature over his sisters. There’s the overdone cliche of walking in on someone on the phone and assuming they are cheating- this character is 28 years, he’s old enough to grow up and have a talk instead of storming out like a jealous 16 year old kid. Additionally, if your “fake” boyfriend has to make the same promise that he won’t leave twice in one week, he’s a walking red flag and will probably have to make the promise a third time. Finally, we go from “fake” dating to planning a wedding in less than a month? Yeah, just not for me.

The "fake girlfriend" was an unusual spin however the story ended on a happy note which was expected. I always enjoy "loving families" in novels and the Palmer family were so divine, loving and caring. The Christmas spirit and traditions shared together as a family were well described and felt so warm as if I was experiencing Christmas with the family.

Enjoyable light read on this rainy afternoon.

Falling For His Fake Girlfriend was such a pleasure to read. This story features Natalie and Kyl, playing out the act that they are dating. But when your stuck together during the holidays with family love looms even further than it already has.

This series is wholesome and sweet and a very cute holiday romance to read. This story was beautifully writen with great characters and storyline. I was gifted this book by the author as an arc read. Thoughts are all my own.

The people are relatable. It was easy to read. It was free on kindle day. No profanity that i remember.

Cons: a bit more mushy and tons of kissing than I am used to. It also is based on deceit/lie if you don’t like that kind of thing. The conflict in the end was strange he seemed to make a really dumb decision.

It’s not as clean as it’s labeled. Sure they don’t sleep together but there is a lot of shirtless moments, drunk times, ect

Loved this fake dating story

I was given this book as an ARC. I loved Natalie and Kyle's story. Fake relationship, one bedroom, big family, and all the feels. I laughed at times and was on the edge of my seat in others. I read this in one sitting while curled up on my stuffed rocking chair. It was great!

Plot: Natalie hasn’t had much luck with people sticking around. Between her mother leaving at a young age and her father’s death, she’s always felt alone. Her best friend’s family took her in. She finally felt like she belonged. Over the last seven years, she has grown to love them like her own. For the last two years, she has been fake dating Kyle, her best friend’s older brother. When her best friend gets married over Christmas, hours away from home, how will Kyle and Natalie manage to spend so much time together without crossing over boundaries?

What I liked: This was probably one of my favorite books so far. Natalie and Kyle are adorable. I love fake dating, best friend’s brother, and one bed, so this book was *chefs kiss*. I also loved reading about the Palmer family taking her in as their own. Found family is everything.

What I didn’t like: It was hard to see Kyle jump to such a harsh conclusion regarding Natalie’s phone call. In the end, it was a sweet story of love and friendship.

Swearing: none

Physical intimacy level: none/ closed door

Star rating: 5 stars

Trope: fake dating, one bed, best friends brother

I was sent an ARC in exchange for a review of this book, and I LOVED it! Landi created such a warm, cozy story with just enough drama to keep it interesting, but without being drawn out of what I call the "Happy Hallmark Bubble."

SUMMARY:
Natalie and Kyle have been fake dating in order to keep their family off their backs about not being in any long term relationships. This ruse has worked for some time, but when they have to up the ante through some forced proximity during Natalie's best friend's (and Kyle's sisters) Christmas wedding, they then discover that the attraction there might not be as fake as either one realized.

Personally, I am a big fan of the fake dating trope in general, but I loved the twist of the fake dating having already gone on for some time. This just cemented the bond and friendship that the characters had and allowed us to really travel with them as they explored that their relationship could be more.
Kyle is fantastic book boyfriend material, and I love how attentive and aware he was of Natalie's emotional needs because of her past. I find Natalie's specific trauma and triggers to be underrepresented in books, so I enjoyed getting to see it represented through her.
All in all, if you want a book that has all the cozy Hallmark vibes, an amazing found family, and a beautiful HEA, then this is the book for you.

Officially a Favorite

So what happens when fake dating gets really comfortable, when a pretend relationship feels too very right?

I can already tell this is one of those books I’ll be rereading. And it’s book three of a series. Time to go buy book one!
