The Case

Can working together lead to something you never thought you could have?

Larkin
Being a social worker has been my only goal in life. Helping children and their families is what I live for. My methods may be unorthodox, but I always get the job done. When I’m not on the clock, I let the seriousness of my job float away. I’m not ashamed of who I am outside of work, but all of my best friends are starting to settle down, and it makes me realize…maybe partying isn’t the best way to relieve stress anymore.
Getting paired with my arch nemesis at work only seems to heighten my stress and test every ounce of patience I have. But if this is how we make sure a child is safe, I’ll suck it up and do the job.

Theo
I have rules for a reason. It was the only way to stay safe when I was a child. Working as a social worker is my way of trying to save children—just like I was saved. The only problem is the beautiful bombshell who likes to drive me crazy at the office. She’s the opposite of me in every way. The chaos to my orderliness. If she weren’t so gorgeous, I’d have written her off a long time ago. Now, I just push her buttons to get a reaction out of her and see that redhead’s temper flair.

When we’re forced to work together on the same case, can we put aside our differences for the betterment of the child? Or will the case turn into something bigger than we ever imagined.

ARC Review! I knew I’d like this book the minute I read the plot. It can easily be read in one sitting because it is fast-paced, and has you entranced from the very beginning. It was my first book from this author, but definitely not my last. It is part of The Catalyst Series, but can be read as a standalone.

The story revolves around social workers Larkin and Theo, as they are put on a case together involving a child, whose story triggers their own personal traumas.

This enemies to lovers story had me hooked from the very first page. I recommend this if you want something light to read, but check your trigger warnings⚡️

Before I talk about this book, I want to say that I really wished the next and last book in this series, The Vacation, was out as well along with this one, because I can't wait to read Jane's story too!

Don't worry, you guys.. this author, her books don't end on cliffhangers! They're #interconnectedstandalones with perfect #happyendings

This one is a really fun Enemies to Lovers book, where both our MCs - Larkin Mathews and Theo Hayes - are #socialworkers working at same place, with entirely opposite personalities, where one is completely a rule follower whereas the other one has her very unorthodox ways of getting things done! And hence, are arch nemesis since day 1!

Things change, for worse or better, when they're forced to work on the same case of an eight year old sweet boy, and helping the kid out of the situation he's in, they're forced to face some of their own fear and childhood traumas! All that being said, the book doesn't disappoint the romance readers here.. it has a really good blend of love and spice! There is humour and some places made me shed some happy tears! So all things considered, the book's perfect!

ThankkYouu Soo Muchh @samanthamthomasauthor for sending me the ARC of this yet another wonderful #book in exchange for an honest review! Your books truly never let me remain in the reading slump! And I'm so happy I could pick this book up first thing to read this month!

The Case by Samantha M Thomas is book three in The Catalyst Series and it’s an Enemies to Lovers Romance. This is the first book that I read by this author and even though it’s the third book in the series it can be read as a standalone. Check your trigger warnings because it’s always best to be safe than sorry. I knew from the line in the description, “Can working together lead to something you never thought you could have?” that I was going to enjoy this book. And I did more than I can express. I was hooked pretty much from the beginning all the way until the end. It was a page-turning read and I enjoyed the main characters' professions as well.

This is the story about Theo and Larkin and it’s told in a duel POV. Normally I don’t really mention this fact but this book flourishes in this fact. I loved reading about the pair coming together, working together and learning that there’s more than meets the eye. This book is very well written and the characters have a depth of feel to them that makes them feel very relatable. This is a great story and definitely should be recommended.

This freaking book. The case follows Larkin and Theo coworkers that are very much opposite in pretty much every way. They get assigned to work a case together and the heat definitely gets turned up once they are stuck together. The ups and downs these two go through will pull at your heartstrings. The personal growth in both Larken and Theo is next level. Samantha never fails to deliver a book that you fully fall into. The love I have for Gavin. The way Theo's mouth made me blush. This is another 5 star will read again book. The way that not only did Bea, Jane and Pen jump to help Larkin but Riggs and Andy too shows the bond these women have.

ARC review! I really enjoyed this book! I love that the two main characters are social workers and help kids! I found their job and their current case they were working on more interesting than the romance aspect of this book. I was hooked right from the beginning! It didn’t take me long at all to read start to finish.

I need to go read the first two books in this series.

~~~ARC Review~~~
Such a sweet amazing book!!!
I was honestly hooked once I found out the main characters were both social workers -- had my heart right there!
Dual POV from both Larkin and Theo.
Jumping in Larkin can not stand how Theo is the "rules" guy. Where she is more focused on doing what need to be done, both work and life in general. Larkin has always resented Theo for how he does his job but never took the time to really get to know him. Where Theo has always found Larkin interesting, both professional and in general. Once these two are assigned to work a case together they actually have to work together, which in turns gives Larkin a chance to see Theo in a different light.
The case brought them together and they learn that what they both have always wanted has been there the whole time. Theo and Larkin work together to make ends meet on all fronts.
I don't want to spoil the book but damn this is one I could not put down. Definitely pick up once out if you up for a sweet rom-com book. There is some smut within that is *chef's kiss* but always an amazing plot that will have you hooked.
Larkin and Theo are both working as social workers. Their boss decided to make them work together on a case but they hate each other…
I had such a nice time reading The Case. I am super hooked from the start, I was struggling between sleeping or reading, I couldn’t put the book down. The plot was interesting; it really focused on their job and the child they are helping.
Theo is the sweetest on earth, I loved everything about him: his background story, how protective he is, how jealous he can get, he is so DAMN HOT and in the bedroom…
Larkin was a great character to follow, I loved how involved she can be, her vulnerability…
There was a third character and he was so sweet and funny!
The tension between Theo & Larkin was amazingly HOT. The Case was spicy, but perfectly spicy.
Both of them gave me butterflies while reading.
I highly recommend each book of Samantha, every time she writes a book I am hooked and fell in love with the characters
