Demisexual Misha longs for a Dom, one that accepts him for who he is, even if that means going at a snail’s pace when it comes to physical intimacy. He has a lot to give as a sub, if only he could find a Dom willing to give him a chance. Besides he’s got bigger things to worry about; Misha is about to find himself apartmentless.

Dominant Samuel gave up on finding a sub at the club. He wasn’t looking for the same things as the subs he met there. Samuel was “too soft” or “not dom enough” for them. He knows he has a lot to give the right sub, he just needs to be patient.

When Misha needs a place to crash, Samuel offers his spare room without hesitation. It’s the least he could do. Everything changes when Misha offers to be a platonic submissive house sub in exchange for a home. How can he turn such a sweet offer down?

Caught is a sexy shorty standalone featuring a friends-to-lovers, demisexual, and age-gap with a dash of service kink and dominant/submissive dynamic. Caught is a short contemporary romance and unlike Jena’s mpreg romances, this novel does not feature omegas and alphas, it is just two men looking to find their happy ever after.

Samuel is a soft Dom, so he's not looking for anything because the subs he had, never get satisfied in a long term relationship with him.
Misha is looking for a Dom, but being demisexual, he needs time to be physical with someone.
Now, he needs a place to stay, and the owner and employer of the BDSM bar where Misha works, is the one that puts him in Samuel direction.
It's a nice m/m love story.

This book had an interesting premise: platonic roommates with one being a dom who's taking a break from having a sub and a sub with a service kink who's not interested in sexy times with doms. It seemed like a cute setup for a story full of sweet domestic scenes and a slow burn romance.

Unfortunately, the terrible writing killed whatever enjoyment I could have found in it. The writing is stiff and awkward and in particular, the dialog is unnatural with characters often not using contractions and speaking like robots. Scenes also move at a snail's pace because the author inserts unnecessary details using awkward, clunky sentences. Because of the cringy writing, things that would have been awkward already (like Sam deciding he's going to call Misha 'Pet') were even more cringy because they stood out like a sore thumb. The dynamic between Sam and Misha was no different than platonic roommates who decide one person will be the breadwinner and the other will do the chores so having Sam firmly decide he's going to call Misha 'Pet' was just awkward and it felt forced.

I also didn't get Misha's service kink...? Based on what we see, he loves platonic acts of service. So...he loves being a waiter at the club, he's very into high level customer service and when he comes to live with Sam, he's over the moon at the idea of being a 1950s housewife (without the sex part). I was happy for Misha that he found an arrangement with Sam that worked so well for him, but...I didn't get where BDSM comes into it. Misha enjoys providing high level customer service and taking care of others but he doesn't want to mix sex into things. You can slot so many other people into this category: waiters, butlers, home cooks/bakers etc. Nobody would ever say that the butler or housewife's enjoyment of being in a submissive position was connected to BDSM in any way so I found the whole thing confusing.

I also didn't get how/why Sam is considered to be this super in-demand dom who is seen as a highly skilled sub trainer. The reason is because Sam is also known for not being into a huge array of popular BDSM activities: impact play, pain play, punishment, discipline etc. So...how is he able to provide full rounded training to a sub when he doesn't expose them to very popular aspects of BDSM activities? It made no sense.

If I were judging the book based on the confusing approach to service submission, I wouldn't rate it because that's a me problem but the other two issues (in particular the bad writing) make the story deserve 1 star. This premise had the potential to be something interesting but I feel the author rushed into it and the whole thing feels half baked and sloppy.

Caught is the story of service sub, Misha, and Dom, Samuel. This is told in first person from both Misha and Samuel’s povs.

I’ll start my review with the cover. I’m guessing that’s supposed to be Samuel on the cover, but his description never struck me as anywhere close to the cover model. I don’t remember any mention of tattoos. So, I don’t think the cover matches.

The blurb does a good job of explaining the plot but I’ll add a little more to it. Misha is a service sub. He is also demisexual. He’s had negative experiences with past Doms because he wasn’t interested in sexual relationships. But that changed with Dom Samuel because Samuel wasn’t looking for a partner since he also had bad experiences with past subs. The relationship between Misha and Sam built slowly over time, and time is what both characters needed to discover what they truly wanted.

If anyone has read any of my previous reviews, I’ve mentioned many times that I dislike lots of internal monologue. This book was almost all monologue, maybe about eighty-five percent monologue and the rest dialogue. Each character would ruminate, talk, and think about their situation. What they wanted or didn’t want, what was going on around them, what they felt, they talked about everything. It was like a person talking to themselves in their heads. This writing technique didn’t pull me into the story because it didn’t make me feel, it made me feel lectured at. When there was dialogue, it was awkward and stilted, not how a casual conversation would flow. The writing style did not work for me in this story.

It's hard to say what the characters really were like. From the outside and the perception of the opposite character, that character thought the other was perfect, so I guess it worked for the characters in the story. It didn’t work for me because I couldn’t feel what Misha or Samuel felt, I was only told. I did however, like that the author wrote about a service sub and a Dom who weren’t into a lot of the other types of BDSM that’s often written in books flooding the market right now. Kudos to the author for that.

Overall, this was an okay story. It’s an extremely fast read. It has no conflict, and I think it could’ve been cut in length by half by getting rid of a lot of the monologue that didn’t lend anything to the story. I did like the service sub topic however, and think the author made a good choice there. I give Caught, 3 Stars.

Not a fan of Dom-Sub to begin with but I was curious and thank goodness their dynamics were vanilla and tolerable for me but it was lacking with the chemistry, the deeper level of emotions and love between the two MCs.

Such a sweet story about finding a person who’s just right for you, when you thought it might never happen.

Sam and Misha get that when Sam agrees to let Misha live with him with the agreement that Misha, who is a sub, will do what makes him the happiest. Serve.

Neither expects it to become more than a temporary arrangement while Misha’s apartment is renovated. But they are perfect together. Their personalities mesh so well together, as do their kinks.

This a gentle and sweet dom/sub romance with a lot of love, good food, and quiet moments watching movies. I loved the demisexual representation. It’s not something you often encounter in a BDSM story, I would love to encounter more like it.

Not looking for a relationship. I'm thinking that's a great motto to have, as when you say it, it seems that love sneaks up on you and grabs onto you hard. That's what happens to our dom and sub in this story. What starts as a platonic relationship slowly develops into more and because of open and honest communication (a refreshing item in a romance story), these two are able to communicate that they want to take their relationship to the next level. I didn't realize that wanting to serve someone was considered a kink and part of the BDSM world. That's an interesting concept to look into. I could see myself thriving in that type of a relationship as a nurturing Dom very similar to how Sam took care of Misha.

A nice, low-angst read. I enjoy stories that explore demisexuality and how hard it can be, especially for the sexual side of the kink community, and this was no exception. It’s pretty straightforward—Sam is a Dom not looking for a relationship bc he’s eventually never enough for his subs and Misha a demisexual submissive with a massive service kink who can’t attract a dom bc his need for connection before sex and disinterest in pain play make him too much work for the Doms he knows.

They end up in a platonic arrangement where Misha lives with Sam while his apartment is being renovated and serves him. They eventually come to care for one another, but are afraid to say anything bc of their stated boundaries. Though a bit skimpy on the character development, and sometimes stiff in the dialogue, it’s a nice shot of sweetness and the softer side of kink.

Communication is key. Misha, learned he was demisexual and accepted himself. He longed for a Dom who would accept him and love him as he is. Samuel, is a Dom who was hurt and settled for a sub for now. Misha found himself in complicated circumstances, and Sam opened his home and his life to him with no strings and no feelings as a temporary solution. This is a story of discovery, acceptance and staying true to oneself. This is my first time reading about Misha's kink, and I am intrigued. I absoluely enjoyed this sweet story. Misha is amazing and Sam is a good guy. Excellent group of supportive friends. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A sweet, romantic story about finding the person just right for you

I really enjoyed Sam and Misha’s story. They were, despite their differences on the surface, very similar in the sense that they had been disappointed by other so many times that they’d given up finding the person that was right for them. It was pure kismet that Misha needed a place to stay and Sam had the space for him to come into his life. Their romance was soft and sweet, a gentle slide into love that was lovely to read. I hope this is the start of many more books about the characters we met.

Wonderfully Written

A bit of BDSM discovery in this read... No Little Kink... No Daddy Kink... But, an interesting kink of servitude and worship... I loved the connection built between Misha and Samuel... There was no jumping in bed in chapter 3... No, actually... There was a genuine storyline that had a Dom/sub both in need... Yet, unable to make a compatible match with others in their community... There is growth... Development of feelings... Just everything that any read (quick or long) should be, in my opinion... Kudos to the author!!! A true gen in this story...

I really really really enjoyed this. Since I'm use to Jena Wade's mpreg/shifter books, this kinky book was a delight to read. Absolutely loved Sam and Misha. They started out totally platonic in their agreement then both "caught feelings" and ultimately their Dom/sub role became so much more. Even though this was a novella, everything was paced nicely and wasn't rushed. The ending was wonderful...so glad I gave this a shot and now I want more...LOL!

I loved Caught by Jena Wade. I loved Misha and Sam's story. I loved that because of his housing situation, Misha finally got to be around a Dom long enough to develop feelings for him. As a bonus, he gets to be a service sub while staying with Sam. I loved how their interests and habits complemented each other.

You might not think sweet and BDSM in the same sentence but Misha and Samuel's story is just that. Misha needs more than others before he moves to physical intimacy, and I love how these two move forward from a "practical" arrangement while Misha's apartment is unavailable. They build such a connection before taking the next step that it is absolutely beautiful to read.

Misha is a service sub who doesn't have any particular interest in sex which is making it hard for him to find a dom and he is also about to have no where to live for a while.

Samuel is a dom who doesn't want a relationship but is more than willing to give Misha somewhere to stay and help him fulfil those service sub needs he has in a way that works for both of them.

The relationship between they slowly grew and developed into something more in such a natural way and this very much was a story about finding that person who is perfect for you just as you had given up

Becoming friends first before becoming more!

This was quite the departure for Jena and I loved every second of it. No shifters, no mpreg, no ABO and I really enjoyed it! At 101 pages it can be read in one sitting. The book was the perfect size and the story didn't feel rushed.

I can't wait to see what's next for Jena. I love every book she's had a part in.

Strangers to friends to lovers, brings the heat, loved the service kink (this was my 1st exposure to this), HEA
