Cursed Alphas #2

The Orc's Fate

Rate this book
Humans don't fall in love with orcs... or bear their children.

When Pascal took a job as a beast handler, befriending a seven-foot-tall alpha orc isn't what he had in mind. His official task is to subdue the orc and make him obey. But Pascal refuses to use his employers' harsh methods—because when he meets Xolkug, his instincts scream fate.

Xolkug is paying the price for a rash decision he made years ago. Now trapped in an orc-proof cell, his only contact with the outside world is when he's put on display for human amusement.

Xolkug underestimated humans once. He won't do it again. Even when the human tasked to "tame" him is kinder than the rest—and makes his heart sing in ways he doesn't understand...

Will an unexpected pregnancy threaten their escape plan? Or will the love between a human and orc beat the odds?

The Orc's Fate is an M/M monster romance featuring an orc, a human, and an unexpected pregnancy. It has sweet scenes, angst and hurt/comfort, no cheating or cliffhangers, and an HEA. It can be read as a standalone, but is best enjoyed in series order.

That was sweet :) I liked this just fine, nothing memorable though. Just another fast-and-easy Oakley’s writing style with a subtle depth of plotline. I love the accidental pregnancy, cute! The beginning of the book wasn’t much promising, but it picks up later on till the end. Big “monsters” are always the sweetest at heart 💜

Overall, a sweet story. I didn’t read the first one in this series, but I didn’t feel lost really while reading this one.

Pascal is so sweet, and I love how caring and sweet he was with Xolkug when they meet. I also love that Xolkug didn’t care about Pascal’s eye patch whereas Pascal’s boss was cruel about it.

It also sets things up nicely for a third story!

This was a very sweet story between two very different heroes. I liked the way the relationship developed and enjoyed watching them form a bond of friendship and fall in love. The story moves pretty quick, but fated mate stories usually do. I really liked it. It gave me the pick me up that I needed. I'm definitely going to check out the rest of the series.

This was a nice sweet story. A story of love, love that goes beyond looks and species. That’s how love works, it has no restraints. This is Pascals story. You meet him in book one. This can be read as a stand-alone. You go on an adventure as Pascal finds himself and his love, love of an orc. This isn’t insta love per-say but it’s very close. Which it’s is what it is. Though I was hoping for a little more weariness on the Orcs side especially after what happened to him. I guess you know when you know. Writing was good. Smexy was good, and it was nice to visit past friends. Diversity is a zero, beyond the fantasy folk there wasn’t anything different. Hopefully the next book we will finally get to meet Noel?

An orc and a human

This story had a very fairytale like read. An orc imprisoned meets his human mate/trainer. Things don't go as planned and they must escape from the cruel man keeping them locked up for his own profit. I enjoyed how accepting both Pascal and Xolkug are of their differences and how loving they are together. Xolkug is gentle yet all alpha protective and Pascal is a feisty and honest omega.

This is the second book in the Cursed Alpha series. You really need to read the first book in the series GARGOYLE'S FATE. You need to understand the background of the main characters from that book for this one to make more sense. You'll get the background details of the oldest residents of an orphanage and the cruel Headmistress that runs the place. In this book the author Hawke Oakley focuses on an Omega who wears an eye patch and the new job he accepts.

In this book the paranormal being is an Orc; now one thing I felt was that what an Orc is was never fully explained. He was described but not the purpose of of some of his features like his tusks. Why were his ears pointed? Falling in love is supposed to be a wonderful occasion except when it is forbidden. There was suspense, danger, blackmail, and terrible repercussions once secrets are revealed. Horses play a pivotal role in the story. I did enjoy this book but still am curious about the things that were left out.

I'm a big fan of orc MM erotica and I've read quite deeply into this sub-genre. This novella hits some spots I enjoy but is overshadowed by elements I find distasteful. As the title suggests, it leans heavily into the alpha/omega trope. That didn't bug me too much but what did was this: the mpreg storyline and sexual details of the omega character, Pascal. He's written pretty much as a "female" character with a dick strapped on. He goes into heat. His rear entrance is self-lubricating and has a womb just north of his prostrate. All that stuff was a turn-off for me but your mileage may vary.

Great

I think I loved this book even more than the first. Pascal and Xolkug were so sweet together! This book had its fair share of conflict with Xolkug being a prisoner, but that was good. It kept the story moving. They had to get creative when it came to getting to know each other. The size difference between the two characters was intriguing, especially when it came to sexy times. Man, I enjoyed this so much that I wish I had a whole orc-centric series!

There is a lot of captivity in this book, and not a lot of retribution.
