While the threat of a stalker is no longer lurking over their heads, Sage's guys continue to be vigilant. This book will focus more on Maddox and his backstory as winter break brings about the dreaded meeting of the families. Sage expects to learn everything she needs to know about her father from her mother. In a twist of events, she learns even more from an unexpected source. While they get a break from all the stress, all good things must come to an end. They return to school to find that something has changed. They don't know whom to trust when all they face is animosity. Sage, Dante, Maddox, Aiden, Caden, and Rowan will face many obstacles that they need to overcome to keep each other safe.
This is book two of the Oak Mountain series This is an 18+ reverse harem novel with more than one partner Contains M/M and light BDSM
Could this have gotten even sweeter than book 1? Yes, yes it did. Ughhh. The author added trigger warnings in the beginning of the book but she didn’t have to. There was absolutely nothing to be triggered by unless it was too much sex, lol. I believe I read that this was the first series this author wrote and you can kindof tell. I’m going to end it here and not continue the series, it’s just not interesting enough for me (and too sweet).
The characters were meant for each other. I loved the surprise of Uncle Lucy and the fact that Sage has family. The only thing that needs looked into is the editing
I enjoyed this book, I loved the different povs. I did find it extremely slow in some chapters and extended sex scenes where it was explained very slowly m, from a few povs. Not that I didn’t enjoy them, I just found there was many a chapter of some hot sex. There was a few action scenes where the fmc guys protect her. Help decide on adding a new guy to her harem. I’m severely confused on the sudden change of perception of her fellow students. I understood the quick answer but it would have been nice to see it play out in a way where you could gradually see it. Maybe I just didn’t like how it was speedy in some spots and slow in others. It didn’t stop me from wanting to know what was gonna happen next though. I thought the characters were all very well rounded, interacted well. It was easy to tell which pov I was reading when I forgot the name at the start of the chapter. Each male had a very specific type of character that was not like any of the others. I’m looking forward to the third!
Wow. What a journey book 2 was! From Sage meeting some of her mates parents, to her mates, meeting her mum, realising she has more family than she knew about, returning to school after Beltane break to all the school knowing her species and abilities to that cliffhanger fight scene at the end. Looking forward to book 3.
Heat level: 4/5. My good dudes. This just keeps ramping up. I really love that this story continued pretty much where we left off in the previous book. Maddox's family is the worst and they all got what they deserved. Toxic af. Also the family surprise?! I'm so here for it 😁 the spice ramps up kinkiness and MM action. Sage living out the peen collection dream.
This book felt shorter then the first one. The editing is better. The spice level is still good. The story isnt bad. I keep wanting more development. If I come across the third one after it comes out, i may read it, but I wasnt hooked enough to log it in my must read next book shelf.
Wow the people that supposed to protect you are aren’t and they’re shady. I can’t wait until they get exactly what’s coming for them. I thought she was getting a couple more mates but I guess I was wrong. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Enjoying the progress of this plot with more hotness and developing characters. Spelling errors creeping in which a bit annoying but can be overlooked. Slight cliffhanger but was going to read next book quickly anyway.
3.5. While I really enjoyed this book it wasn’t as much as the first. Sage takes the guys to meet her mom and friends and she goes and meets their parents and finds she has unexpected family still out there. But the system seems to be working against her and people who should do what’s right by the law take advantage of situations to get rid of her as a threat.
