Thoughts Recollected In Tranquility

Rate this book
Thoughts Recollected in Tranquility brings together my feelings, reflections, and reminiscences during the COVID-19 pandemic.

These poems are not about the disease; they are about the resilient human spirit. There is sadness, but there are also memories, relationships, excitements, imaginings, and the wonder of birth, growing up, and marriage as the circle of life goes on.

The book takes in all aspects of our lives—each poem comes straight from my soul. The collection varies in tone from amused to melancholic, and from matter-of-fact to imaginative.

Thoughts Recollected In Tranquility by Nandita Banerjee is a book of poems that are delightful. The poems are short and well written and while reading them I felt transported to another reality. I always enjoy good poems and this is the case. I liked most of them; some are heartwarming and others are thought provoking. There are poems for every taste I think.

‘A little warmth goes a long way’ - Beautiful poetry by a gifted artist

Author Nandita Banerjee earned her degrees in English Literature and Education and has taught in India, the USA and in the UK. Her debut novel was the impressive NO. 7: THEY’RE CALLING, and now she adds to her luster poems written in response to the isolation of the pandemic - ‘poems not about the disease; they are about the resilient human spirit. There is sadness, but there are also memories, relationships, excitements, imaginings, and the wonder of birth, growing up, and marriage as the circle of life goes on.’

This collection of poetic musings serves as a touchstone for us all, moments that are tearful - both in thoughts of sadness and in smiles of joyful memories. In SMILE: ‘Rain or shine,/ Smile at someone -/ anyone-/ despite your mask./ Make their day./ rest assured that they/ will find a way/ to return the gesture/ without delay./ A smile is infectious,/ it could catch the world like fire.’

The range of poems is expansive - thoughts beautifully offered that provide insights into Nanjita’s artistry as a writer/poet, as well as her life - and our lives. This is a cache of gentle, nurturing moments to visit often for respite, relief, and pleasure. Nandita Banerjee is obviously a writer to follow!

The COVID pandemic brought a lot of grief to the whole world but it also helped a lot of us connect with ourselves and the people around us. Thoughts Recollected In Tranquility by Nandita Banerjee is a collection of emotional and meaningful poems about resilience, memories, relationships and more.

I was able to relate to a lot of the poems. Like the one about retail therapy, i can remember how buying was not the reason for going out but it's just for the purpose of going out. And the one about the circle of life, COVID claimed a lot of lives including my grandfather whom I wasn’t able to see because of protocols. It is like looking back on the things that we have endured during those 2 years of crazy, when we thought the world was ending but look at us now, reading about it. This is a much need read, helps us be thankful for everything.

Although the skilful poet Nandita Banerjee wrote her poems within the pages of “Thoughts Recollected in Tranquility” during the Covid-19 this is not a book that wallows in sadness and regret. While she does look with compassion at certain sorrowful aspects of life, most of her poems are a celebration of the many marvellous things of life and how these carried on even during the pandemic. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the topics the poet covers include the diversity of life in all its different aspects. One of my favorite poems is the one that deals with the magic and beauty of birth. Although the collection of poems is by a single poet, the style Banerjee uses varies according to the topic and mood of the poem. Highly recommended!

Thoughts Recollected in Tranquility is a heart-warming collection of poems written by Nandita Banerjee. I really admire artists who write this kind of work and I enjoy reading poems a lot. In this book the author expresses her feelings, thoughts and memories during the Covid-19 pandemic. In it the author develops different topics that are a deep analysis of reality and everyday life. She reflects upon love, hope, fear and grief, but always with an optimistic tone highlighting the strong and resilient human spirit.
The book is short and it can be read in one sitting, but I am sure readers will come again and again to browse between its pages to reread their favourite poem as I do. I loved this book and I highly recommend it.

“Thoughts Recollected In Tranquility” is a collection of poems written by Nandita Banerjee. These poems explore diverse and broad themes of life, and while most of them are emotional, they certainly reach the depths of the soul. The collection varies in tone from amused to melancholic, and from matter-of-fact
to imaginative.

With great sensitivity and emotion on the surface, the author makes the reader travel inward, and take a journey towards what the COVID pandemic was.

This easy and quick reading book is undoubtedly a sample of what the pandemic left us and what it meant to everyone. I recommend this book full of emotions and feelings.
