I‘m really sorry but the writing was atrocious - I realise that this was all supposed to be funny, but I couldn’t continue reading at like 5% because I was feeling so uncomfortable. One quote to show you what I mean - mind you, this is at 4% and the MCs met for the first time like 2 minutes ago: „Holding my angel tight so he doesn’t hurt his precious bum, I charge like a fucking linebacker or some shit to my penthouse and kick the door in.”
What. The. F. And that wasn’t even the worst quote. What makes it worse is that this is how ALL the writing is. Constantly. Who thought this was a good idea?

Ugh, this is gonna be harsh. My bank card stopped working. I had a tooth extraction. I picked this book. Never tried this author but it was down as funny, there was a hitman and it was on the Amazon charts. I feel betrayed by Amazon. This book was loud and in your face. I recoiled from the first chapter but I committed to no dnf this year so I put up with it. I hoped it would get better, I tried. I couldn't stand this book. It was cringe. There wasn't one iota of humour. I usually find the little/daddy thing cute except for the sex. I can't read little mode sex. The text talk was annoying.
I'm not sure if it was the writing or the characters that made me want to throw this book far far away from me. Vincenzo wasn't anything impressive given he's supposed to be mafia. It felt more background setting that didn't go anywhere. The guns were minimal and it felt kill rushed just to give the story excitement. Also didn't get why he had to roar everything. Sounds like the annoying git in the pub you want to toss your drink over. I felt sorry for the bartender. The book plug took me out of the story I was trying not to skim to get through it. Pretty sure there were other series cameos in there but meh. I am curious about the brother but not enough to put myself through that. I won't be reading anything else by this author.

It’s almost as if the author made the book bad on purpose. There’s no other reason for it to be written the way it is. The saddest part is that the characters have the potential to be good, but it would take a MAJOR rewrite.

Honestly what in the world was that? I had to DNF @27%. I'm not sure how anyone rated this higher than 1 star but took me 3 days a x several
breaks to get to 27% and it probably one of the worst books I've ever tried to read. I've read a book or two by this author before and those were normal, but this one? Deranged and chaotic. Save your time and mental health skip this one.

Did not find it at all funny and ended up skipping most of the sex scenes as they were gross. Also found nothing humorous in it. Only finished it because I hoped the author would switch back to the style of other stuff they wrote, they didn't.

The story was rushed and lacked depth

I thought the description of the book was going to produce laughs and be a great read.
For me, it wasn't and it didn't. Not even a chuckle.
The MC's were often overly annoying. The constant use of "growling" as a form of talking was annoying. Add the description of their feelings/past was even worse. They don't want to be judged, but act like complete imbeciles in public. I've never met a single person who talks like "Vincenzo", and I'm Italian and my family is from New York/Italy. It was embarrassing to read. The family dynamic borders incest. Vincenzo kills the boss of the architect firm, but doesn't kill the kidnappers? Then after Ryder has been kidnapped, assaulted and tortured, the 1st thing they do after he's rescued is have rough sex? The "daddy" doesn't comfort or tend to Ryder (insert dumb nickname) after all of this? Make it make sense. "Daddy" doesn't take into account that the kidnappers were on their vacation, but is too bothered to look into it? 3 masked people don't cause worry or concern? Until ding ding ding, Ryder is kidnapped. He was more concerned with himself than "his boy".

MC is too crass and boarish for me. Not a funny, fluffy mm mafia novel. I also started book 2, but DNF it as that MC was also fond of "roaring" and "chest beating".

Totally over the top, needs some work to be better. I have read this author before but this wasn't what I expected. The two stars are entirely for the story, the entertainment factor and the inclusion of some of the kink I enjoy reading about (daddy/little, younger daddy, stuffy sex, mafia/normal profession). I really liked Ryder, Cyan and Enzo, but I couldn't get anywhere close to liking any of the Luciano men.
The three missing stars are for anything that's wrong with the book. I am saying that if the book got reworked it could get up to four stars at least. I kind of feel bad but this is my honest view on this. I did NOT laugh-out-loud once, I was rather shaking my head, rolling my eyes and had to suspend my disbelief pretty much from page one.
The writing is over the top. Too much "roaring" and "growling" instead of talking, speaking and saying. The behaviour in public for this hitman is 'too much in your face' and 'I could care less' rather than hiding in plain sight and being inconspicuous. The sex is ridiculous, no prep, no clean up. Don't get me wrong, I love reading about rough sex, but rough and being hurtful are different things, and somehow it irked me that Ryder constantly compared that rough sex with love making and being in love.
A big pet peeve of mine is when the MCs aren't talking about major stuff that is important to the story but rather have fun or get interrupted (by texts, phone calls, annoying family members). It became extremely predictable and boring.
I did contemplate a DNF pretty much from 5% onwards but I stuck it out. It was fun to see characters from previous books of this particular universe, but seriously this must be another dimension or parallel universe, there can't be that many mafiosi who are gay and into Daddy/little kink in the same city. But it is a good thing for Ryder and his friends. The crimes committed by the Luciano family to gain their fortune also catch up to them, yet Ryder doesn't care. The first on page killing committed by Vincenzo is rather petty. No info on how they are keeping the law enforcement out of their hairs.
The whole Mary and Peter 'thing' with reference to baby Jesus may have been a honest mistake or done on purpose (maybe as a joke) to get the tongues wagging, but I think it backfired. It took me away from the story for a moment (suspended disbelief, remember), didn't make me laugh, though.
Overall, not sure if I want to continue reading this series.

Dear Lord don’t read this. The story and writing is terrible. And some of it is cringe (scenes and phrases) and I don’t mean the Littles kink. Scenes are over the top to not plausible. Book 1 and book 2 are almost cut and paste with plot mechanics and some scenes. Yes, I read all four books. They are all terrible, in fact book 4 is boring compared to the first three.
If I remember correctly there is still unresolved subplot that goes on into book five, which I am not reading. I can’t read anymore of these. I am not reading anymore by this author because it is terrible writing and story. Dare I say this and the series is hot garbage. There are other series related to these and I won’t read those either. No more from this author, don’t recommend.

Ridiculous
Personal Opinion:
DNF and I never will. This book and writing style is just terrible. Words like: juvenile, immature, ridiculous... are coming to mind.
I understand being a Little and having the mindset of a Little, but how this character is written is an insult to Littles.
I strongly advise not to buy this book.
The MC know each other per Chat all of 5 minutes, meet up have Sex and the so called Daddy leaves without any type of comfort or aftercare. Same for the 2nd encounter, any Daddy having this title would be shocked and abhor this behavior. Nope, nope and nope.

The writing is so cringy. There were no funny parts or captivating dialogue or storyline. He roars about the most random things and it doesn’t even fit the conversation.
I really don’t like dnfing a book but I struggled with this book so much. I got to 50% and couldn’t take it anymore.
I’ve read little/daddy books and have enjoyed them but the writing style in this book was awful.
The storyline could have had potential but sadly missed the mark.

I have to agree with others, this was not a funny book. I was in the mood for a funny book and this is not it.
I feel like a teenage boy just wrote every wild, weird and wacky s*x thing they could think to try and be over the top. It was so far from good dirty talk that it felt almost gross reading it.
First series in a very long time I have no desire to continue to read.

I have no idea where I saw this book but on amazon the subtitle says: A Laugh-Out-Loud MM Fluffy Mafia Daddy Romance. Sounds good, right?
So - I thought, why not? Weeeell, now let me just say, in my opinion it is not Laugh-Out-Loud.
It's cringeworthy. It's not funny, it's full of exagerated actions, thoughts, unrealistic talk and irritating behaviour. I'm not kink-shaming here, I've read and loved my share of Daddy books. This is just...not good. The writing is strange and atricious. An example is the overuse of "roar" in this book. And not when it would fit, no, they roar when they are actually talking.
Example in a restaurant.
"Open wide, boy, " I roar, talking through a mouthful of food. "Damn, open them pretty red lips and show Daddy what you are working with! Let him watch you chew that chicken nugget - mmmmmm, yeah, let's dab it in the fucking honey mustard dipping sauce - .....
or
"You're leaking!" Daddy roars out a laugh.
Okay - and these are not the worst examples. I admit, dirty talk in 3rd person never worked for me. But this is really not the greatest problem of this book. It just is not funny at all.
Maybe it is fluffy, maybe it is someone's cup of very special Daddy-Kink, I wasn't able to find it out because everything just drowned in the cringeworthy writing. I strongly suggest to read the sample frist - maybe you like this writing style.

Ryder is looking for a Daddy who wants an older fluffy man. Vincenzo is looking for a little to cuddle with and to take care of. They meet online. Their first two dates get interrupted by Vincenzo's family's business. Finally, Vincenzo and Ryder get their long awaited date and it is better than either could imagine. They have found the partners they have searched for all their lives. Then they talk about their lives. Will it be a deal breaker for Ryder? Will Vincenzo be able to get his dad off Ryder's back?
I enjoyed this book. I adored Ryder. He was in little headspace a lot. I liked watching Vincenzo trying to get his family to leave them alone so they could have a long date instead of the quickies they'd been having. I liked watching Vincenzo and his brothers messing with each other. Their parents are something else.
I loved all the tropes in this book--Mafia, Daddy/little, action/adventure, humor. There's a little bit of everything here. It was a fun read--somewhat over the top but I knew that Ryder and Vincenzo were perfect for each other. Plus this was hot!

Juvenile and cringey does not equal funny. It feels like zero effort was put into the writing. You can make something ridiculous and silly and still be good, you just need some half-way decent writing (at the very least). This is not that.

Maybe I just dont "get it" but I am suspicious of this book's rating. I just cannot fathom a genuine 5 star review of this book. At the time of writing this there are 316 ratings resulting in 3.47 stars and there are 42 written reviews (3 of which do not have a rating, but are negative dnf reviews) culminating in a rating of 2.25 stars. (That seems a bit closer to reality.)
Also, most of the 5 star reviews are just the basic book description which just feels like a slightly more detailed writing prompt. There are no positive spoiler reviews where someone might actually go into some detail about what exactly they love about this book. Quite a few of the 2 and 3 star reviews are a little bit biased by people who liked some of the author's other work, but did not like this one. (I totally understand this. As a reader you can feel really guilty giving an honest negative rating to an author you have previously enjoyed, so you might skew your rating more to be more positive, while still expressing your disappointment and dislikes.)

Ryder is a Little who works as an architect and is in his early forties but cannot find a Daddy. Then on a lifestyle app, he meets 26-year-old DiscreetDaddy who is just gorgeous. They have an instant connection but Ryder has no idea what he does for a living, he just hopes it is not the Italian Mafia family whom he is designing a new luxury villa for.
I didn't laugh at this as much as I thought I would and I found the writing style a bit disjointed which left me a bit disappointed from reading the author's other books. I also found some of the descriptions of their sex lives and their behaviour in public just weird and over the top but not funny. Easy to read and understand. Contains mature MM content. Really. DNF 50% possible spoilers
Completely ridiculous. Probably the most unrealistic and dramatic book I’ve read in this genre. I am all for over the top subs but come on. I expect some decorum when it comes to acting in public. I really tried to like this book but I couldn’t. Tbh it is probably a me thing but the food scenes grossed me out. Compared to the other series Aster has written, this book falls short. I enjoyed the others even if they were also on the dramatic side. Idk if I can continue the series. I may revisit the book but I think it’s best if I don’t. There are a lot of things you have to overlook to enjoy the book. The first two interactions there was little if no prep and no aftercare. I should’ve stopped reading after that first interaction because no daddy worth his salt would skip prep for his boy and leave minutes after their first time.

This book describes unconditional love and love at first sight with sweet notes of awesome. An XXL dose of daddy/little dynamics. It's definitely not for everyone, but it is for those who wish, hope and dream of everything life can give. It pushes the point of "be yourself" to the ¹⁰th power of complete acceptance (on a scale of 1 to 5). I'm on board with that and have ship for sail a long time ago. Feel free to jump on board the lovely cruise of books.

advocating acceptance, inclusion and promoting education and knowledge about plushophilia. I didn't even know it was a thing. I'm supportive of all individuals, regardless of their sexual interests. Love is love!

April 23, 2023Another one in the "oooo, that title" and "this sounds weird, Imma read it" bin. And...wow. If I actually took the time to flag everything in here that was like, "uuuuum, I'm not sure about that..." fully half the book would be highlighted. That said, Vincenzo is SO EXTRA (when Ryder tells him that he gets worried about surprises, Vincenzo falls to his knees on the sidewalk and declares that Ryder HAS to believe that Daddy will ALWAYS take care of him), that with the mafia components of the story it's very entertaining. I wasn't expecting a LITTLE Little (Ryder's 3 years and 2 months), so that was...a thing I read...and it was very kinky.

Aster Rae has done it again with another winning series and proven they can write a reverse age gap story that's just as good as their other series pairings. In fact, I think I'm going to enjoy this series even more than the previous ones if this is any indication. We have an older architect who worries about his age and the fact he's not a buff young guy in his 20s and a younger man who loves him just the way he is. The fact that the young man just happens to be a mafia hitman is par for the course in an Aster Rae story, lol. Ryder and Vincenzo are perfect for each other.

This is...a story. I didn't not like it because I don't enjoy DD/lb books. I like them quite a lot usually. These two just don't do it for me. Yes, the sex was (mostly) hot (when it wasn't OTT) (which it mostly was). There was at least a general nod towards aftercare and talking about snuggling. But the whole thing was SOOOOOOOOO OTT that I can't. This author is NOT my jam, baby boy or not. Oh well, at least now I know.
