When Tessa reveals some distressing news, the Guardians and their mates will have to gather their allies to rise to the challenge.

I gave it a 3, but I'm again not too sure how into these stories I am any more. I'm glad we're finally getting some answers since the next book is the final book, but some of it feels like it isn't on par with the first couple. Parts felt repetitive again but the story does move forward overall.

In the last book, Leah’s message from the professor confessed to the meat thefts as well as asking them to talk to Terris and earn his trust, that he was involved in something but was a good guy. Now they’re talking about him as if they have no idea what he does or may be involved in until Jamie says he wants to hear his voice to see if he recognizes him from his captivity.

Finn and Leah questioning Caleb being in SCB custody but never actually confirming with Jasper until later when it comes up again was an interesting choice too.

I am looking forward to seeing Aiden come into his power and the relationship between him and Jamie so hopefully the next (final) book is good.



I've suspected Aiden and Jamie were mates, but it's nice to see it confirmed.

We only ever meet one of Finn’s brothers, Felix. Felix supposedly keeps having a buyer for their family land and Finn’s the only one refusing to sell. Is Freyja not included? She works the gardens and I have a strong feeling she would highly object to selling. Was this even really a plot point? From the sounds of it, his family members are all fine financially. The only possible tie I can think of is Williamson was pressuring Felix to sell to him so he would finally have an in.

I thought it was weird that Finn is a cop yet when Quinn is acting increasingly sketchy he doesn't think anything of it, just brushes it off as Quinn being weird about Finn and Leah being mates.

I'm not sure how I feel about Quinn's powers and how he was able to keep it a secret from his family for YEARS. Yes, he and Leah are twins, but I thought the whole point of these powers were because they were guardians of a phoenix. I suppose there could be a phoenix in Tennessee that is calling to Quinn. Quinn must be one hell of an actor to have not only had these powers but also be threatened by Williamson for months (if not years, no specifics there) and have his "extremely close" siblings none the wiser. At one point Leah even talks about a twin bond that is literally brought up for that one point and never again.

The whole thing with Williamson is getting somewhat twisted in my head too. So he's a billionaire businessman who has flown under the radar for centuries while performing experiments on shifters. Specifically bears.

Leah’s twin, Quinn’s suspicious actions draw attention and Finn’s brother, Felix. is petrified and over his head in his latest con. The guardians unite to help Jamie shift. Tessa shares some expected but unwelcome news.

With more of his minions and their roles revealed plus a clear understanding of Alden Williamson’s scheme it’s evident, ready or not, their most precious commodity, time, is up. They have to go with the preparations they’ve made because the showdown is upon them.

Awesome story addition

Well I was worried about the ending to this series. I couldn't figure out how so much would have to happen in a few pages. Now I know there is another book coming. I am so glad. This is an amazing series and I wish it wouldn't end. I get so caught up in the storyline I still think about the characters when I am doing housework... lol. I can't wait for the next book to be published. Looking out for #6

DNF @ 4%. When the first 10 pages are just info dump summaries of the previous 4 books....

Literally after all that info dump, it then had a huge paragraph that was like the "Enoch begat Joseph" or whatever part of the Bible, except it was "____ is mated to ____", and then also listed all of their professions, like I'm supposed to care about or remember any of that when I don't even care for the main characters yet....

With each passing book the intensity factor goes up and up. I am so hoping the last book comes sooner rather than later. I love the characters but I was sad about Quinn even though I suspected. These Guardians are something else.

Found another up and coming author. This is a really good series, and I am enjoying all the different shifters in the town. The fights and intrigue are keeping me reading each one. I hope she writes more.
