It’s what’s kept her and her brother safe roaming from town to town in a post-apocalyptic hellscape. It’s also one of her core rules - trust no one, take no shit, and conceal the constant battle to keep her inner beast at bay. Her animal has always been ornery and restless - she’s used to it. So when a gorgeous stranger walks into her shop, bringing with him both a peculiar sense of calm and an electric attraction, it’s not something she or her animal can ignore.
Jax knows two things the moment he sets eyes on Beth. The first is that she’s his mate - a fact that he’s all too eager to prove to her. The second is that secrets surrounding Beth could have colossal implications for his people. When Beth’s existence threatens to tear a divide in his community, Jax is willing to risk everything to protect his mate.
But a much more significant threat is coming from outside their fences… and it’s coming fast.
Sarren is a caffeine-powered, multi-award-winning romance author who may or may not judge people who dog ear books (just kidding… mostly). When she’s not writing steamy love stories or arguing with her characters, she’s losing spectacularly at family game nights. This Canadian word smith survives winters by hibernating under blankets with her black kitty and golden retriever as personal space heaters. Summers are for pretending she’ll exercise—until her book and iced coffee call her name instead. Her husband is her favourite snuggling partner, mainly because he brings snacks and doesn’t complain when she argues with herself over plot holes. Follow her for books, questionable life choices, and the occasional floof cameo. Warning: Her stories may cause bedroom gymnastics, bouts of random shenanigans, and neglecting chores.
Jax has always wanted to find mate. When he takes a trip to the colony Temple to trade for a part needed to help the farms electrical system he finds her. Beth is the spitting image of his best friends mate Calli who we met in book 1. But along with Beth comes her very overprotective brother Finn. When Jax brings Finn and Beth back to the farm he takes responsibility for both of them, knowing that can be dangerous for him. For him though he doesn't care as long as he has Beth there with him. Beth has struggled her whole life to keep her bear in control and even though both her Finn don't truly believe in the mate bond she knows that when Jax is with her, her bear isn't fighting with her and seems to finally be one with her. There are some secrets that Beth and Finn are bringing with them that none of the Homani at the farm dreamed possible. This book is action packed, and nice and spicy and leaves us craving book 3.
I really like this story for Jax and Beth. Was unsure if this was a Dom/Sub relationship. I would have liked it more defined, the little snippets that you gave left me wanting to see more. Sometimes I feel the main characters get together really quickly, maybe you need to give them little bit more time before the hook up or get together in a relationship. I really enjoyed this book. It was very fast paced, it kept my attention, and it was very exciting up until the end. Can’t wait for the next book to come out.
So far the series does not disappoint.

I enjoyed reading this book, the storyline held me throughout the entire book. The twists and turns kept me wondering what was next. The spice was well written and not overdone. I've enjoyed both books so far and I am starting the third and last book in this series. I can see spinoff from some of the main characters that could be written if this author does choose to do so. Looking forward to the next book and more books in the future.
This book brings the action in more ways than one. The post apocalyptic world heats up with challenges from the new arrivals to Smith farm, both friend and foe. More fated mates are found, more is revealed about the creation of the shifters, and the corruption is deeper than ever. Can't wait to see what happens next!
The story keeps you flipping through the pages, needing to know what happens next. The characters are complex and interesting. And it's probably a good idea to keep an ice pack, fan, or other cooling method close by, because this book is HOT!
Holy Hannah! This story is HOT! Spice... CHECK Story... CHECK well thought out and complex characters.... CHECK Leave me wanting more?.... CHECK CHECK Am I waiting for the next in the series? YES!
I really enjoyed the second book in this series. The author did an excellent job of describing the world and the relationships between the characters, along with building tension not only in the bedroom scenes but in the action sequences as well. Looking forward to book three!
This series is jam-packed with all the good stuff. A dystopian, shifter romance with sci-fi feels, Homani Tested is the second book in the Homani Series, and it delivers. Did I mention the spice? Because wow! A delicious addition to your bookshelves.
I had bought all three books of this series. Finished book 1 and loved it. Page 4, yes that is how far I had to read before I said. No (….) way. Shocked. Loved the next few pages with the delicious banter “Put your dicks away and measure them later”. There r a few alpha males in these books. The women have a very strong character as well. They take nothing from nobody. Now the absolute reason I HAD to read one special specific part to my husband. The way Sarren described the scene was better than watching the movie (Wink, wink). But, oh boy, a big but when u get to it. Puppy pads please. Now I am about in the middle of the book and the sweetest character says, “As your mate, it’s my honour to see to all of your needs”. Love it. Book 2 you will see people figuring things out and trying to solve the mystery that surrounds them. This is not a sappy book. It is wrought with strength, hurt and death. You will not see it coming. I was crying at one point as it ripped out my heart strings. from the beginning to the middle to the end it just flows beautifully. Read this book… tell your friends. Everyone needs to experience the lives of these people. Thank you thank you Sarren. Amazing!
