The Kings are powerful. They’re ruthless. And they own me.
When my mother dies of an overdose, I’m forced to live with an aunt that hates me. Her desire to stay close to the elite pushes me right into the domain of the Kings. Kieran, Heston, and Xavier.
These guys don’t just rule the high school, everyone seems to bow down to them. Nobody crosses them and lives to talk about it, or so I’ve heard. Their families are the richest in this city. In fact, they are so powerful that even the city authorities bend to their will.
They don’t trust me because of where I come from. My uncle was one of the founding families, along with their fathers, and he betrayed them. Now they believe that I am the enemy.
There’s an old saying, the truth will find you out. How true that statement is. My family’s secrets are revealed, and I discover that my entire life has been full of lies and deceit. Those secrets also have the power to take everything from me. But will this new revelation be enough to earn their trust, or will it destroy everything I hold dear?
ღ 🇹🇼🇮🇸🇹🇪🇩 🇬🇦🇲🇪🇸 🇼🇪 🇵🇱🇦🇾 ღ Is a full length reverse harem romance book by new to me author Marie Lynn Brewster. HEROES Heston, Xavier and Kieran HEROINE Presley
I'd seen this one pop up a time or two in my feed in here and thought why not..This starts off with the normal poor girl moving into an unloving home with an aunt who doesn't want her, where the rich and corrupt rub shoulders.
Then she comes under the radar of the three guys who run the school, and the surrounding neighbourhood, not all is what it seems with these guys, they each have been trained at a young age to take out any threats.
The only real problem I had with these three guys, is how easily they fell for the heroine, I wanted to feel that chase, feel the butterflies build, feel that connection with them, sadly that was lacking in this making it feel a bit too rushed.
But other than that I did enjoy the storyline to a degree.
A why choose mafia story.... Not sure where the 'twisted games' comes into it tho. That didn't happen. I wouldn't even consider it enemies really either...They pretty much banged each other's brains out straight away. The guys were protective, early on. There was some mistrust.
Why do heroines always go shopping when the enemy is looking to take em out? You know something bad is going to happen...it usually ends up in a bullet or zip ties.
Not a 5 star, for me...but could be for you. 😉😊 Good steamy read.
Such a fun twist on a bully romance! The beginning starts out like a lot of other bully books, so I was skeptical, but it didn’t take me long to get sucked into it! There’s the typical bullying, mean girls, kings of the school, poor girl/super fancy prep school etc.. but the twists that are thrown in?! Those are fantastic and make this book so much different than the others!! The steam is delicious and spicy! There’s so much angst from the beginning to the end, it’s great!
Was not expecting to come out loving this one THAT much! I knew it was going to be good, but didn’t realize it would sink it’s claws into me. This RH had all the yum and alphaholes mixed up in them. Then add the Mafia Mystery and suspense, all that wrapped up in Twisted Games We Play. Heston, Xavier and Kieran all played their roles perfectly in this Foursome.
This new author to me has made a fan for life with this incredible story! There are so many aspects that I love like the little love hate thing Kieran has with Presley. The instant connection Presley has with Heston and Xavier and even Natalie. The story had so many layers…like an onion each layer that was peeled a new twist was presented making the next layer even more intriguing. I read this is one sitting and will definitely reread it. Not to mention I would love a little extended epilogue to see where the Kings of Hawk and their Queen are a few years down the road.
Man oh man! This story! I was in a huge reading funk and boy did this pull me out of it!! Presley, Heston, Xavier, and Kieran are out of this world!!! Talk about the twists and turns!! 5 stars isn't enough! In 3 hours I went from book slump to book hangover!! I couldn't put this down !!! The spice is chefs kiss 10/10
Worst book ever. No plot. Presley is the weakest character I’ve read ever. Who gets tortured and then just forgives them? Will never read this author again.
It took me less than 24 hours to read this book, because I honestly couldn’t put it down. If you’re looking for a good, smutty mafia book, look no further. The Kings are about to rock your world. The Kings rule everything, decide everything. They take whatever they wan and who they want when they want. That’s until Presley comes along and starts making them all let their guards down and do anything and everything to protect her at all costs. That is until they think she’s part of the rivals. Twist and turns, crazy sex scenes, lust, and hot sexy men everywhere. I loved this book and can’t wait to see what else this author has in store!!!!!

Favorite Quotes:
“I’m not sure what the people of HAWK will think of our foursome, but fuck what they think. These three are my Kings, and I am their Queen”
“I still don’t do hearts and flowers, but I have done the unthinkable. I have fallen in love with you”
“I love you too…….I know, now open up and show me how much you love me”
This was a great book! I loved the insta-love between the female character and the male characters, though you could still feel the mistrust between them. The book gave great plot twists through out the book. As the reader you are just as confused as Presley through some of the events. I thought the book had a great amount of spice. I do feel the book was rushed at the end but didn’t think it took away from the book. Loved it!
Presley tore at my heartstrings, I wanted all the things for her. I loved her tenacity and strength. I loved that she didn't cower. She stood up to Kieran immediately and that was what drew me in the same as it did him.
Kieran was this dark, broody, mad at the world and doesn't care what anyone wants or thinks kind of guy. He isn't a flowers and sweet nothings person and I always gravitate towards those kinds of antiheroes.
Heston had me from the start, he was kind and gentle but still had an underlying darkness to him that I was all for. I loved him instantly.
Xavier didn't really show up until after a little while, he was there but not really involved with things just yet, and that had me wondering.
The Kings were so strong and have the world on their shoulders, but that makes them even better to me. Those three have been through more than any teenager should have to go through, but that makes them who they are and I loved it.
HAWK is not to be taken lightly, neither are The Kings. They run this town and everyone in it, except Presley. They may be The Kings but she's their Queen!
I loved this story and all the drama and suspense that came with it and I can't wait to read more from this author. She did an amazing job of creating characters that are exactly what I am into.
„God, she is so innocent, I almost feel bad for corrupting her. Almost.“
Hell to the yes! God did I enjoy reading this book! ❤️🔥
Kieran, Heston and Xavier are not at all what I expected but I‘m here for it. 🖤 Presley is a woman I want to be. She can stand her own ground and doesn’t hassitate to call people on their bull. Where she underestimates herself in the Beginning she grows throughout the book. She fights back and handles the three Kings like the Queen she is. 🔥 The boys had me mealting like wax over a flame. The spicy parts especially. 🥵 Although a couple things where quite predictable, Marie Lynn has refreshing suprises up her sleeve.
I enjoyed every minute of this book and I can’t wait to read it again! The story developes quickly and you don’t have to wait long for the dirty parts. The writing is fluent, full of humor and capture the emotions perfectly. I appreciate the attention to detail and the beautiful cars. 😉 The replay of scenes from different perspectives might be unusual but helps to get to know each character a little bit better.
So if you are looking for a spicy why-choose, mafia-related Dark-Romance surch no longer and enjoy. 😉
I loved Presley. She has a no f*cks given attitude and stands up for her self when Kieran is rude to her after they first meet and although she has doubts about what is right or wrong about being with more then one guy, she gives in to her sexuality and owns it.
The Kings, Kieran, Xavier, and Heston, are used to everyone following their orders and faking in line. Presley does the opposite. Not only does she stand up for herself, but she pushes Kieran with no care for the consequences.
Heston started out as my favorite and Xavier quickly swept in like the king he is and stole that position. I adore both of them and love how they treat Presley for the most part. Kieran on the other hand, gave me mixed feelings. There is multiple parts where I highlighted because i really wanted to hate him but he made it difficult. Towards the end he really made me angry though. I understand where he was coming from, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.
My only complaint is that I would have loved to see more of a redemption arc for what he did to Presley. I feel like after the big build up, it was just completely skipped over and moved on in a final chapter. I’m still mad for her. Besides this though, I enjoyed the book. The steamy scenes are hot, the friendship between Natalie and Presley is lovely, and the chemistry between the main characters is fun to read.
Being that this was my very first time reading one of Marie Lynn Brewsters romances I was honestly not sure what to expect. But I am a sucker when it comes to reading the trope of Dark RH romances and Twisted Games We Play was easily one of the best I’ve read in the past few month . Dark , raw , gritty and emotionally charged , alphaholes , mafia , suspense, mystery, angst , twists and turns, a kick@ss heroine , drama , secrets , non stop action, heartbreaking and heartfelt moments, wonderfully written characters that are so unique , so captivating and very very multi layered. And last but certainly not least a journey that’s going to leave you utterly speechless, keep you on the edge of your seat anticipating what will happen from one second to the next and leave you wanting so much more . I honestly cannot remember the last time I devoured a book in just about 4 hours straight
Oh my these Kings and Presley. This is an enimes to loves, RH,why choose, almost forbidden love book.
The forbidden part being because of who she is or might be....no spoilers
Presley is taken in by her wicked rich aunt, who doesn't care about her at all. Just wants to parade her around and "the woe is me" I took on a poor child,if it wasn't for me she would be in the streets. This town is run by the founding familes HAWK are the initials and there is a darkness to them. Let's just say the spawns of these faniles can't seem to stay away from Presley from the day they meet her,and have no intentions of letting some mafia business get in their way.
spicy beyond belief in the best way. Definitely a great read. I wish there was a second part or bonus scenes of their future.
This book had some twists and turns that makes it an interesting ride. And that ride picks up speed pretty quickly. Once it got started, it was like an avalanche of action and spice. Presley grows throughout this book and can hold her own. She has some set backs but they make her come back and stand up even strong. I The boys all bring something different to the table and boy the way one of them is sweet to her....like....damn....the stuff he says. OKAY. Count me innnnn. The way she pushes them to grow into men and feel feelings and thaw their hearts. feel like there could have been a bigger bang at the end but it wasn't unsatisfactory. I just wanted more because I'm greedy. Good book, entertaining read, interesting plot. I'm here for it.
Twisted Games We Play is a book about Presley, Xavier, Heston, and Kieran. This book is told from multiple points of view of these characters.
Presley is forced to move in to live with her aunt after her mother passes away. Her aunt isn't her favorite person. Presley has grown up poor and hasn't had much in life. In her new life, everyone has money and isn't afraid to flaunt it.
She meets Xavier, Heston, and Kieran. They are the Kings of her new world. They aren't sure if they can trust her, as her uncle has done some things to them in the past. They believe she will be just like him.
Can Presley prove to her boys she's not who they think she is? Can Xavier, Heston, and Kieran get the answers they need? Will they get their happy ending?
This was a really well written mafia, high school, sort of enemies to lovers, sort of instalust story. Presley is a strong, independant and snarky fmc. She's taken care of herself and her mum for a lot of years, due to her mum's addiction to drugs, even working at a coffee shop, in order to pay the rent and keep food on the table. She is completely thrown in at the deep and when she goes to live with her aunt after her mum's death. I loved how she didn't need the guys to validate her life and gave as good as she got. There's a lot going on in terms of plot, but it keeps moving at a fast pace and is coherent and well thought out. I loved how the chapters restarted the last scene from the previous one but in someone else's POV. Well worth a read!
A quick, dark mafia read with bully tendencies. This story starts out like so many other bully stories, but it really drug me and made me want to see what Presley was going to stand for. The story really takes a turn when the Kings realize that they have found their Queen and honestly that they all are bowing to her!! Each of her kings is different and that makes them oh so interesting --
Kiernan is outwardly dark and brooding, there's nothing sweet about him, but he also is fiercely loyal.
Heston is outwardly sweet and caring, but he has dark, dark, dark underlying that.
Xavier was kind of in the background, there but not really there and letting the others take center stage -- until he wasn't! He is like...wow...just everything despite being a bully.
This dark Mafia reverse harem romance was fantastic! I was instantly hooked from the first chapter.
Presley was a really likeable female main character, she stood up for herself and was a force to be reckoned with. She was instantly attracted to Kieran, Heston and Xavier, the three Kings of HAWK, and it wasn't long till she had them lusting over her.
The smut in this book was top notch! Those group scenes were sizzling and I loved how spicy it was.
The plot was really engaging and I found it a thoroughly addictive read. There were twists and turns and the reveals at the end were really good.
I would highly recommend to other lovers of dark reverse harem romance books.
Twisted Games We Play is a mafia style reverse harem story with twist and all the darkness that you want in a dark romance.
I was immediately hooked onto this story. Presley has sass. She’s quick to give you back what you give her. The Kings….Kieran is a hot jerk. Heston is my favorite and Xavier is a sweetheart.
This story starts out fast. Marie Lynn wastes no time getting to the good stuff. She’ll have you devouring this book.
This is a 5 star read. It has steam….angst….mystery…and drama. I recommend this one.
I can’t end this review without mentioning Natalie. I love her. I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed she gets her own book 😉.
This mafia book was more than steam it was straight fire. This Female/male story is a quick spicy read. Presley lost her mother and was forced to move in with her aunt, who happens to hate her. The area she moved into was one owned by the Mafia families otherwise known as HAWK. They sons of those families operate on the keep your enemies closer motto and they start to have relations with Presley. You read that correct THEY, Presley falls for not one bad boy but all three and they share her well. They end up with happily ever after but not until after blood, tears, secrets revealed, and betrayal. This one was steamy!
Twisted Games We Play was full of spice and danger. This why choose dark romance has a feisty leading lady (Presley) and three deadly guys. Presley is thrown into the elite world of HAWK when her mother dies and she has to live with her aunt. This world is dangerous and cruel, but Presley isn't some shrinking flower, she will fight back when she needs to. And as she gets pulled deeper into this world, she'll come to realize that Xavier, Heston, and Kieran aren't just a threat to her heart, but her life.
Interesting story filled with suspense and good characters. If you love a good why choose romance with a twist of mafia ties...this is your book.
This is my first book by this author and wow, I was hooked from the start with this story. The FMC has had a rough go of life and then to be thrown to the wolves also knows as the Kings founding families of this town they live in and that they rule, most people would crumble but Presley is stronger than that and not willing to bend and break just because these guys say she should. This story has amazing alphahole mafia men with lots of secrets and lies weaved through, but what those guys didn't expect was to fall so hard and fast for Presley but she sneaks up on them and shakes their world. The mix of smut and Maifa is perfect and this won't be the last time I am reading thus author.
Wow, this book throws you in at the deep end and just keeps going, I love books like this, that get straight in there with no messing about !! Fabulously written characters, you really get to feel you know them , I loved how strong Presley is, she takes no messing from any of the boys, can look after herself in more ways than one and loved her smart mouth !! She's totally bad ass !! The chemistry between them all is off the charts hot , my kindle nearly melted at times , great story too, totally well deserved 5 star read .
This book was absolutely brilliant, I was hooked. The first part is clearly setting the scene knowing all hell will break lose and my God it did. I couldn't put this book down, it was non stop. I love how Kieran is with Presley, but Xavier and Heston just melt my heart. They clearly have a softer side, especially with Presley but ultimately they all love her and will do anything to protect her. This book will keep you guessing as to what is going to happen, with a shock towards the end with someone I least expected. You HAVE to read this book, you will not be disappointed.
This was the first book I have read from this author and wow.
Presley is thrown into a new town with her Aunt taking guardianship of her. We already know straight off that Presley is not someone to mess with she strong and independent. Her first social outing she meets the Kings: Kieran, Xavier and Heston. The bad boys who are the rulers of the school and everything else. The story develops the relationship of the three Kings and Presley. There is mistrust, misunderstandings and to top it all of 🔥🔥🔥. Couldn’t put this book down and can’t wait for more.
Can not rate this book enough! It literally had me hooked from The get go, and I've finished it in one sitting 👌 I was really expecting all three guys to be complete arses towards Presley and I'm so glad that Xavier and Heston could see that she was just an innocent girl thrown into their world. Kieran definitely had his moments with her, and you could tell hes just not used to feeling that way about anyone until she turns up. Such a brilliant story- so much going on but it's an absolute page Turner and the spice is top notch!
This is the first book I have read by this author and I am not disappointed at all! It was a wonderful book that I couldn’t put down. It sucked me in from the start. It is a why choose mafia story. The Kings are the rulers of their world and they make sure everyone knows it. But they never saw Presley coming. The steam was there and so was the plot. It is a little insta-love, but I enjoy that trope so no complaints from me! I enjoyed every bit of this book and can’t wait to see what this author does next.
A super smutty RH romance? Yes, please! This book has it all. Angst, suspense, steam. Presley is a girl who takes no crap from anyone, especially the Kings. And that makes her irresistible to them. I like how each guy brought something different to the table, each handling Presley in a different way. But it works. There were lots of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. I love a good ‘why choose’ romance and this one did not disappoint. Can’t wait to see where this author takes us next.
