Madison After an accident claimed my father's life, my world unraveled. Those counted on for love and support view me as a burden. I've never felt more alone. Until him. My stalker. I feel his eyes upon me, but I don't know who he is. He's made his presence known, stepping from the shadows, his eyes obsessively devouring me. I hate it. At the same time, I never want him to stop. I don't know the first thing about him. Not even his name. Yet, the magnetic pull I feel to my stalker is heady—and possibly dangerous. A serial killer has been sexually assaulting and murdering blonde-haired, brown-eyed women who resemble me. I've received mysterious notes and flowers, making me think the killer is closer than I think. Is my stalker the serial killer, and I’m his ultimate prize? Or is he the only one strong enough to protect me from the danger lurking nearby?
The Stalker Tragedy entered my life when I was a child, forever altering who I am. The sting of betrayal by those who were supposed to protect me, yet failed, is ingrained in every facet of my being. I was too young and weak to do anything about it then. But this is now. I'm older and stronger than ever, waging a war on this corrupt town, getting the vengeance that is my due. The one who betrayed me the most is within reach. And she has a daughter. The perfect way to exact my revenge. I stalk Madison, learning everything about her, especially her weaknesses. I never counted on her being my weakness. Everything I've strived for hangs in the balance. And so does her life.
This is a dark romance novel for those readers 18+ due to extreme content and adult scenes. Content/Trigger Warnings listed on the author's website.
I enjoyed the dark “falling for my stalker” trope, plus I think the characters were really interesting. Without giving too much away there were some twists that definitely added some dimension to the story.
The pet name “baby girl” was used probably a little too frequently for me, but I could mostly skim over that. I enjoyed the HEA and feel like the story was wrapped up really nicely (and left an opening for another book with a side character).
This book could've easily been a 4-star read for me if the author hadn't made a huge timeline error that was really crucial to the story. Without giving too much away in the form of spoilers there's an event that's referred to in a character's past that would've had to have occurred before the character was born for other events to line up. The author could have made a few adjustments to the story to fix it and the fact that it was overlooked really took me out of the story.
DNF @ 50%. Honestly just wasn’t vibing with it. Huge overuse of “baby girl” every other sentence during the dialogue between the two main characters. Each page “baby girl” was said multiple times and I’m all for a good nickname but it was just way too much. Might be your cup of tea, give it a shot, it just wasn’t mine! 🖤
This book had everything you need & want in a stalker romance $ then some!! The spice was perfect & their HEA was done to perfection. This is a definite must read, just read the triggers, it has very sensitive content.
