Smoke is the second book in the Salinger Security series.
Jake and Cassie shared a one night stand, just to meet again at work…. How fun will that turn out?
This is a military romance, difference in rank (so nothing can actually be happening between them), but the steam starts pretty soon in the book. The entire book is so easy to read, just take an afternoon for yourself and indulge in this book.
Naomi has a way of writing her books so that you have no other choice than to leave the world outside so you can relax and read.

This is the second book in a series by this author and the second book that I’ve read by her. But, it won’t be the last! I find her writing style to be very easy to read and it flows smoothly. The characters of Jake and Cassie were more compatible than it would seem. The age difference (which wasn’t much) and the conflict in their rank were things that they had to overcome. The way Jake handled his protective tendencies when Cassie was in the field were believable. He knew that she was capable of dealing with whatever might come her way but he was uncomfortable and worried. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and any other ones on the horizon.

Cassie and Jakes story is the sweetest military story. They struggle with deployments, rank regulations, and a bit of danger. It’s a great mix of suspense and romance. I love the family connections they have with the other characters as well as watching their story unfold. They start out with hiding their relationship ship and then once it’s out in the open, it’s the sweetest ever! Very well written and it was an easy story line to follow. I can’t wait for the next one! This is a series that would be best read in order. It follows the siblings as they fall in love. You get a peak into the other couples stories as well. Some that have unfolded already and some that are yet to be known.

Cassie and Jake start as a one night stand and quickly find that they are working together. Because of Military rules, they can not be together. However, they fall in love while on missions to save sex traffic victims. This is book two in the series so it was nice to catch up with the other characters but if you didn't read the first book you will still be able to follow along. I am really enjoying the Salinger family and can't wait for the next book.

Oh wow - the Salinger Brothers continue fighting for what is right and love. Naomi manages again to keep the reader hooked to the Story trying to find out from which direction the next threat comes. Who will survive, who will be targeted and can they get out on time? I loved reading Jake and Cassies Story and can’t wait for the next Salinger book.

Wow my first time reading one of Naomi’s books, just loved Jake and Cassie’s story. Its non stop action from start to finish. Her being the higher ranking officer creates a real problem for Jake and Cassie to try and build a relationship. How they work through missions together, plus family and friends interactions makes for a real page turning read, loved it!

This is the second book in the Salinger Security series. It was every bit as much fun to read as the first book. Naomi McKay can really weave a riveting story. Jake and Cassie meet at a bar. They were immediately attracted to each other. One night together and they were smitten. Imagine their shock when they discover they're both in the Navy...she is an officer, and he is enlisted. That is a major problem. They have more than this hurdle to get through to get the HEA they deserve. Get this book ASAP and find out what happens next. I promise you won't regret it. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.

You know when at the end of chapter 1, that if someone is dropping their panties, that a book is going to be good! Jake (Smoke) goes to a club and meets a women and has a fantastic one night stand. Cassie sneaks out on him and doesn’t expect to see him again. But when she walks into a briefing for work, there sits Smoke. These two are in the Navy and Cassie is an officer so it makes it against the rules to have any kind of relationship. But they can’t seem to help it especially as it lets them blow off some steam from this dangerous mission. I love the Salinger series because you have the romance story but then you have the military story too. It makes it a hotter book to me. There is no way that you can’t love Jake a.k.a. Smoke. And Cassie’s back story makes her a great character too. Put these two in a room together and it just about combusts.

I'm a huge Operation Alpha series fan and when I got the chance to read a book by a new author I jumped at the opportunity. I had to start with Twist (book 1) to really get a good feel for the author, and I have to admit I liked what I was reading. I couldn't wait to start Smoke and once I started, I couldn't put it down. One thing I love is when there is a female character (or in this case a couple of them) who knows what they want and goes for it. The one-night stand between Jake and Cassie was a perfect example of this. Cassie knew what she wanted and just went with it, right through the book. Even though Cassie was scared to be emotionally attached to anyone, Jake managed to break down her walls and made her his. He showed her what love is and what the right family could do for a person. The love his family showed her, was just what she needed. Not to mention the team that Jake was a part of to protect the medical officers trying to save the trafficked victims. Don't get me started on Jake's proposal to Cassie...that was just perfect and then the cliffhanger you just had to add about Mason and Brie...absolute perfection. This book had the perfect amount of romance, sassiness and action for my liking.
I can't wait for the rest of the series to be completed...I am looking forward to Mason's book!
As I was reading about how the bad guys went about treating women as nothing less than, I realized, I am actually thankful that there are authors like Naomi etc. that writes about human trafficking, that makes a person think even though we live in our save little worlds, there are people who are going through hell just to survive. So many people I know barely even think about trafficked humans or what they have to go through. I even want to go as far to say they feel if they don't know about it, then surely it doesn't happen, so Thank you to the likes of Naomi and similar authors who bring this situation to light in their books.
I can't wait for the rest of the series to be completed...I am looking forward to Mason's book!

Smoke is the second book in the Salinger Security series, and I enjoyed this one even more than the first. Jake ‘Smoke’ Salinger, the youngest Salinger sibling is winding his time down in the Navy and only has a few months left before retirement. Cassie is a nurse and an officer in the Navy. She is smart, sassy, and capable. Jake meets Cassie in a bar, they have instant chemistry and after their explosive night together Cassie disappears. Jake’s last mission is to protect a group of medical professionals as they rescue trafficking victims and are both surprised to find Cassie is not only one of the nurses but also his superior officer. Therefore, they can’t have any type of relationship. Amidst the horrors of rescuing these victims, an old nemesis surfaces who has a vendetta against the Salinger family.
This story has unexpected twists and turns, and I was captivated from the beginning. The action and suspense kept me riveted to the book. I thought the writing flowed seamlessly, the characters were well-defined, and the dialogue was witty and clever. I really like Jake and Cassie's relationship; they had lots of heat together. This is a stand-alone and can be enjoyed as such, however, reading the first book, Twist, enhances your read of this book, as you’ll have a background of the characters. It looks like Mason is up for book 3 and I can’t wait! I received an arc of this book from the author, and this is my honest review.

What an adventure! I loved this story even if some parts are heartbreaking!
This is the second book in the series but can be read as stand alone , simply it's even better read in order,in this one Jake, aka Smoke, younger of the sallinger boys meets a gorgeous woman in a bar and soon knows her more intimately ....except he had no idea she was in the navy and with superior rank .... Now that they learn they must work together love is forbidden except that they can only think of each other.
Jake is courageous, protective and a good soul seeing how is affected by what he saw on mission. I really appreciated this side of his personnality.
Cassie is a nurse in the Navy, she never thought about having a real romance and never with a fellow navy member. However she can't deny the attraction she has for Jake when learning she must rely on him and his SEAL team for her protection is a shock but when the mission is revealed the truth of necessity is understandood easily. Saving women from illegal cargo when they are drugged to be sold and more is not easy and requires military but also medical assets thus the double team working together.
There are steamy scene, wonderful family moment filled with humour but also tragic event, heartbreaking moment violence and more so you may need some tissues and i would recommend this to adult or at least 16+ but this is wonderfully written and the ending promise even more adventure ( poor Mason^^) so i can't wait for book 2

Cassie Ward AKA Lieutenant Ward just wants one night. It’s not to be anything special just a bit of relaxation. All the better if it includes a hottie and some steamy fun. Not going to think any more on it the next day.
Life however has other plans for these two. Throw in fate, Admiral North, and his no nonsense take on things, the vendetta against the Salinger family, and you know you’re going to get a good story. I loved how Naomi portrayed the juxtaposition of Jakes and Cassie’s personal and professional characters. You also get to know more about the Salinger family as well. Looking forward to more in this series.
Though this book could be read as standalone, to get the best enjoyment and background understanding of the family I would recommend reading book one first.

After reading “Twist” book 1 in this series I was excited for what came next. I found myself intrigued and captivated by the characters/family/friends we met. I enjoy seeing characters we know from Susan Stoker’s books make appearances in these books but I really can’t wait to learn more about all the Salinger siblings. The suspense and characters that Naomi introduces in this series has me not wanting to stop reading. This is a reverse age-gap, forbidden romance, HEA that will have you intrigued from the beginning. Jake and Cassie met randomly and they thought they’d never see each other again. It’s a small world when they end up not only on the same deployment but they also have friends/family in common. I loved the dynamic between these two and their story. I really enjoy the family dynamics and how we keep getting glimpses of the siblings/friend interactions as their stories build. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

As with most hookups, not a lot of information is shared. Cassie left before the sun came up, but Jake felt the connection was more. A short time later, both are together on the same mission. But regulations are involved; will they figure out how to be together?
Plenty of suspense and action, fast-paced and steam. I was engaged through the entire book.
The writing style just flows, and the story holds your attention. As with book one, Twist, a book hangover was not a surprise. Bring on Reaper, as I am anxious to know his story.

I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of SMOKE . I really enjoyed reading this suspense romance . This is the second story in the Salinger Security Series . This is Navy Seal Jake (Smoke ) Salinger and Lieutenant Cassie ward's story . Jake and Cassie meet at a bar and have a unforgettable night together . They never expected to see each other again . Shocked to find themselves face to face on a military mission rescuing human trafficking victims . Jake's team is in charge of protecting Cassie's team of medics and nurses . Their attraction is just as strong as it was but their relationship is forbidden . They fight their attraction but closer to Jake's retiring they cannot resist . They finally can be together if Cassie's deployment doesn't end their life together before it happens . This story is Suspenseful and interesting, a fantastic story . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

This is the second great book in the Salinger Security series, and it continues with Jake Salinger and Cassie - they meet up during an evening out and spend a hot and steamy night together, which ends too soon for them both. Their next meeting is not only unexpected but a shock to them both, as Cassie is a Naval Nursing Officer, whilst Jake is an enlisted SEAL, and they and their teams are about to work together on a mission rescuing victims of sex trafficking - with a secondary mission being run at the same time. This is a really well written story, it keeps your attention from the start as the twists keep coming, and the relationship between Jake and Cassie grows. The Salinger family are an integral part of the story, and I can’t wait for the next in the series. This is the second book that I have read by this fantastic author and I’m so glad to have found her.

This is the second book in the series and the author’s second book ever, as well. Smoke was even better than Twist. While it can be read as a standalone, I believe reading the books in order is beneficial. I continue to love all the Salinger’s--their work dynamic and their family (blood and found) dynamic. It was good to catch up with characters from book one as we delve into Jake’s life. This story has romance, suspense, action, strong alpha males, and strong female characters. I loved Smoke and Cassie’s story. There is an underlying ARC (mystery/conflict) that runs through both books and, I believe will continue through future books. With each book we find out a few more details. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and future books about the other Salinger siblings. I hope Jared gets a HEA too—he is family even though he doesn’t realize it.

Oh wow what an amazing book I certainly went on an emotional roller coaster, but wow what a ride i went on. I loved this book from start to finish and I cant wait to read the other books in this series. It had some twist and turns throughout the story. The book seemed to flow seamlessly and the characters were perfectly put together. Smoke was an excellent, sexy, suspenseful page turner. Naomi McKay did an awesome job with the characters and the plot. I couldn’t put it down. This is the second book in the Salinger Security (Special Forces Operation Alpha). The story just keeps getting more interesting. I would highly recommend reading the first book in the series. The Salinger brothers are hot and good at what they do. They are all former military, and they have started their own security firm. Their women are strong and smart. Jake meets Cassie by chance, and the sparks fly. Then they learn that they are in a mission together. Jake and Cassie have a sweet love story, and I was rooting for them to make it work. I love that I found this series. I can’t wait to read more stories!

This book had it all. The instant connection that left them both reeling. Thinking he would never see Cassie again didn't sit right with Jake. Then he shows up for his next assignment and finds out that Cassie is a Naval Officer and will be with him on the next mission. They try to fight their attraction, but their relationship continues to grow. The traffickers are still after the Salingers, and when Cassie gets caught in an attack, Jake comes to rescue her. Through it all, their feelings grow and they get the HEA we all want. It's a fast-pace, burn-hot story that I couldn't put down.

Smoke is book 2 in the Salinger Security series. We meet Jake and Cassie on a night out one kiss leads to the best night ever for them both. Fast forward, Cassie enters her next mission as a Navy Medic (nurse) and Jake Smoke Salinger starts his final tour with the US Navy Seal team. What neither of them realise is their steamy night of passions smacks them both upside the head as Cassie and Jake join forces to take down the DeMarchis trafficking wing. As this story unfolds it becomes clear that the Salinger's will never be free from DeMarchis and his reign of terror unless one of them ends this. Without giving too much away this was a great story following on from book one with Lilly and Oliver. Looking for to where this series heads.

I loved this book! Having enjoyed the first book in the series I was looking forward to reading this next installment and I certainly was not disappointed. Excitement and danger are at every corner and linked with a forbidden romance this made for great reading. Although this book could be read as standalone it was great to catch up with characters from the first book in the series. There were also some tantalising hints at future books in the series which have resulted in me author-stalking to ensure I don't miss them! I highly recommend this book.

Amazing book, with adventure, suspense, passion and hot and steamy scenes.

After a one night stand leaves them wanting more but it's impossible, ex seal Jake finds himself working with Cassie.
Explosive passion, foreboding danger and suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout this book. So much action and intense moments make it hard to put down.
I loved the sense of forbidden throughout but the irresistible pull these two attract.
The plot had layers and make for a really interesting and intense story.

Cassie is a Nurse in the Navy and before her next deployment she goes to a bar where she meets Jake Sailenger. Things become complicated after the hookup and she finds out he's going to be the security escorting her team to help women and children from human trafficking. Jake's not re-enlisting so they have to wait to persue a relationship until his contract ends. Loved how the guys were able to talk about anything with their dad. 100% loved this story my favorite so far can't wait for Mason's story

Navy and Romance!
Smoke: Jake was the youngest of a big Military family and only two them were still serving! He was getting out soon enough to join the family business. Mason and Jake were attending a funeral of a friend. Jake wanted to get out of the hotel for a bit. He was not expecting to meet any one just wanted to enjoy some music and a few drinks. One of the performers he saw he could keep his off of her. So when Cassie was don't she came and talk to him. It was a wonderful story!
