Quinn Carter isn’t looking back. After falling for the wrong guy and getting burned, she’s planning to stay far away from trouble. She worked hard to leave her reputation behind. Now in college and starting fresh, she’s not going to let any ‘bad boy’ ruin things again.
Especially not the one she always dreamed about.
Ransom Ward knew Quinn was off limits in high school, but they weren’t there anymore. He had a dream to build something better for himself and his crew, so he turned his sights on the fast-paced world of car racing. Now an expert at building and racing cars, he’s worked hard, but the girl that was out of reach is back and threatening to take it all away.
Quinn thought she could resist, but sparks fly as Ransom threatens to unravel her carefully laid plans. Can she keep her defenses up to resist temptation?
DNF @ 67% the sex without discussion of protection in any form is what pushed me over the edge. That is so irresponsible as an author.
There is no plot, so you’d think it’d be made up for by a character heavy story…but Quinn acts like a child and essentially strings Ransom along for 50% of the book.
Literally every single man outside of the main 4 or 5 is a piece of shit that wants to have sex with Quinn and just pretty much approaches her propositioning it. In my opinion that is not how you should show bullying because of leaked sex tapes, it’s completely inaccurate.
There’s a nice female best friend at the start who within like 2 chapters gets written as a complete bitch and is barely mentioned again. It was so unnecessary- why do we not want this girl to have more than one female friend???
So disappointed after hearing such good things about this.
"So, if it wasn´t Fox, you were looking at me?" "Every day."
This is a two POV book, told by the POV´s of Quinn and Ransom.
I really liked Quinn and her gentle nature but sometimes she felt a little naive to me at the beginning of the book. Like girl if you feel uncomfortable, speak up! Thankfully she learned that over the course of the book and got stronger and braver as the book continued. Ransom is your typical "bad boy" in these type of books. He also is a "touch her and I kill you" type of man and I liked how gentle and sweet he was with Quinn.
With side characters I LOVE Scout and Fox the most so far and I can´t wait for their own books. I´m looking forward to learning more about Jax and Kye, but the group as a whole really gave me found family vibes which I quite loved.
The plotline itself of the book was quite good, what annoyed me a bit as a car lover, was that no car models were mentioned. It was always just "Ransom´s car" or "Jax´s car". Yeah, tell me what they drive! So in my mind I just created the car models that I think fit them, and in my opinion, Ransom is an american muscle typa guy, so he drives a Dodge Challenger. The romance part of the book started out really well, I loved the tension and how much they seemed to dislike each other, but in my opinion they gave in a bit too quickly. I would have prefered for the angst to be a bit more drawn out. I loved that he fell first and was pining after her a lot. You can also expect spicy scenes in this book. I loved the friendship Quinn formed with Scout and am hoping to see more of it in upcoming books. The pacing of the book itself was well done and fast paced. I loved the drama of it and the action scenes. The pacing only slowed for me a little towards the middle but quickly picked back up.
Overall this was a decent read and I will give this series a try.
trigger warnings: non consensual distribution of nudes, dysfunctional/toxic friendships/relationships, violence
i ate this up????? gave off major wattpad vibes, but the found family always gets me!! honestly, there was so much going on at all times, i never got bored. it was soooooo good.
First of all, Quinn's friends are literal **sholes like wtf ? Teaching your friend a lesson by ruining her life? Doesn't makes sense AT ALL.
Second, Ransom and the rest were wrong for doing that to their friend although I do not commend why he did what he did but still.
Third, I love the story a loooot but there are times were some dialogues could get too...wordy Like there's just too much when it could be concise yet clear. Some scenes felt bland to me too but for the most part, I really enjoyed reading it.
Lastly, I love the connection between Ransom and Quinn though it could get annoying how they just both assume the worst all the time. There was also a bit when Quinn ticked me off because she doesn't think at all and let her emotions run things all the freakin' timeeeeeee. Like girl, chill. Breathe. Think.
If you are going to read this, better be prepared in the actions because there's a lot of kicking and punching and bleeding. Otherwise, this book is very quick to read and there's spice too so 👌🏻
They were so perfect it was actually to die for. Their chemistry? The way that she won all of his grumpy lil friends over? This was just very well done and just perfect. I thought that the author did a great way of showing what the FMC went through and the pining between the MC's. Just beautiful. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book and the storyline HAD so much potential, but the writing just ruined it. There is no character development, no suspense, the book could have easily ended after chapter 10. No point of having 40+ chapters. I had to put this book down at least 4 times, because It was so bad. Don't even get me started on character names. Ransom? Jax? Fox? Kye? Scout? Dante? Dante Alighieri?
It seems to me that the writer didn't do any research on the topic of the book and it shows.
Book is full of drama (unnecessary drama), cringe and "how are they in this position?". In simple words it was plain and boring. I just wanted it to end.
This book screams "I saw an edit on TikTok, let me write a book about it without zero knowledge of anything I'm writing about and make it all about drama"!!
— thoughts (SPOILERS AHEAD) ok so this book was very much fast & furious adjacent, i wish there was more car racing but i enjoyed it. i also don’t think that it would be every bodies cup of tea. not my favorite read this month but definitely will be reading the rest of the series. the story was interesting thought there were some moments where i was like for the love of anything that is good in the world just COMMUNICATE, pleaseee. the plot with ryder and slaughter was a bit of a rollercoaster but kept me entertained so i have no major complaints
—characters (SPOILERS AHEAD)
ransom — we never really got confirmation that that was his real name but we also didn’t have it disprove. don’t know how i feel about it but is is a badass racing name. he wasn’t my favorite at times but i liked him
quinn — didn’t love her as character but their relationship was sweet at times though not the whole book. she went through some pretty hard stuff with her mom and logan (ewww) but she was resilient and i liked that about her.
the crew — fox was probably the funniest and most likable and close behind was scout. i’m looking forward to all their books and hopefully more racing. i wasn’t sure who was stealing the cars until quinn said that dante had been in his car outside after she fought with ryder and slaughter. something just rubbed me the wrong way about him and then everything else that happened after was crazy.
josie & tyler (+ sarah) — they gave high school bullies in the 90s so bad and i hated every second of it. josie gave me a bad feeling ever since quinn had told her she was working at the garage cause she needed the money and she was like you don’t need to work. like HELLO?!! not every has rich parents to pay for their tuition…
✧ . * — 𝘱𝘳𝘦-𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥
i am a simple girl, i see car guys and street racing and i click. i’m sucker for fast & furious and apparently this is somewhat like it. so here to a good book about racing!!
This is a debut novel and I enjoyed it. This follows Quinn who has a crush on bad boy Ransom in high school but every time she looks in his direction he glares as if he hates her. Fast forward to a house party she attends but is quickly run out of the house due to a viral video that is making the rounds about her. She is now in college trying to make a life for herself but the boy she secretly had a crush on comes back into the picture. You can tell it is a debut novel and I can’t wait to see what Kate can do moving forward with this series I loved the whole crew we got to meet. If you were in trouble they would drop everything to come. The plot kept me gripped and you love characters but you can hate some as well. Just a couple of things more personal to me I felt it was a little dramatic in terms of every chapter an issue or problem was needing to be handled. Ransom I wish was more grumpy instead of lovey-dovey so early on just wanted the tension to last. Lastly, the spicy scenes do not discuss protection it just jumps into it so safe or not I’m unsure. But overall this is a great debut novel and looking forward to the next story in Hollows Garage.

My brain seriously can’t wrap around the fact that this is Kate Crew’s first book. Her writing is AMAZING and had me hooked in the first chapter.
Ransom and Quinn were PERFECT. Their chemistry felt real and definitely not forced. I loved reading about their upbringing and then seeing the growth in them. Quinn was a total badass and I loved her wild spirit.
The plot was so good and the twists kept me on my toes! I literally could not book the book down.
I’m thankful Kate allowed me to be an ARC reader for this book. I seriously can’t wait for her second book.
I didn’t like it … it was a little boring for me. the writing style , the plot , the characters… everything was bland 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t like high school / College fresher stories mostly but i read them time to time. I gave this book a chance because it had good reviews but it was not for me.
Quinn did nothing but run away from ransom every time any hurdle came in their way. Like stay .. trust … communicate.. you want to be in a relationship and he’s giving you everything and only thing you do is run away ! I felt like she was using him. She didn’t have any other options left and he saved her every time so she just decided to be in a relationship with him because of that 🤷🏻♀️
why was he named RANSOM ?? 😂 if its his crew name or whatever that is called .. okay understandable… but then what’s his real name ?
All or most of the characters had the same problem. Family issues .. drunk parents .. bad parents .. not every parents are bad 🤷🏻♀️
The Dante thing was so obvious. He didn’t appear as much as other during the whole book and when he blamed Quinn the very first time there was a theft in the store , it was pretty obvious he was involved somehow. But why he needed money was never told ?!?!? Him confessing everything so soon was so silly !! he actually did act like a spoiled toddler.
Josie confessed too so easily. Like make it a little difficult to know about the actual truth. I don’t even know why Quinn and her were best friends. she seemed nice in the beginning but when she started spending time with Sophie and tyler ( i guess that’s their name ) … i knew that friendship won’t last. She was so judgemental of everything.
I honestly bought this book for the racing trope but that happened only once.
I love second chance romances where the characters have known each other from the time they were young. Quinn has had a bad experience with relationships and over the course of this book, Ransom helps her heal. Ransom is a an unexpected name but it's quirky. I liked reading about his successful career. It was so much fun to read about his racing journey. This is a book that's as much about human life when you're single as it is about the life of a couple who endure trials and tribulations before and after the courting period. It's written very well. I enjoyed it.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
street racing series ??? hello?? People are reminded of F&F so maybe I need to check it out 🏎️𖦹 ׂ 𓈒 🏁 / ⋆ ۪ 💨- Second chance 💨- street racers 💨- found family 💨- forced proximity 💨- he falls harder!!
The Wattpad vibes of this book were vibing. But honestly? I don’t care. The bad boy-good girl trope was brilliantly done. It’s true that there was a little bit of drama that could’ve been avoided with good communication between the characters. But you know how I love a good morally gray villain as main character. I’ll continue with the next one!!
Most underrated book i've ever laid my eyes on. This is like fast and fueious in a book holy crap it was amazing. Ome of my top ten best reads of the year. Im so inlove with the whole story and the style if the author. Get this freaking bookkkk
✨ARC Review✨ Once I picked this up… i COULD NOT put it down. The duel POV was awesome. Normally it’s not my favorite, but I love that the beginning of one chapter from Ransom’s POV flows so effortlessly with the ending of Quinn’s. Quinn… is a BADASS. She is fearless and strong. I’m absolutely in love with her! Ransom is absolutely one of my new favorite book boyfriends. & all of the members of the “family” that they found was AMAZING. I loved all of them and they added so much warmth to the story line. The plot twist was SO UNEXPECTED.
I was gasping, giggling, and I was so on the edge of my seat the entire time! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5
New favorite author? IF she writes it I HAVE TO HAVE IT.
This book will live in my brain rent free until I die.
The writing style and opening chapter sucked me in, and then several hours that day, I finished the book. Without feeling forced, the central plot was gripping, and the twist and turns of every chapter aided in my binge-reading. This book also features a dual POV between the MMC and FMC, which is * chef kiss*. The two characters start out hating each other, are forced to work together ( forced proximity trope ), and the tension between them you could cut with a knife. I also loved all the side characters ( which is a first for me ), and there is a happy ending. For the debut book, Kate knocked this one out of the park, and waiting for book 2 to come out is going to be torture. Thank you, Kate Crew, for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and I only have one word. Perfection!
I read it in one day!
Hooked from the first page. This book has everything. The pacing was very well done. The story moved fluid throughout. Ransom and Quinn FTW. Started it and didn’t put it down until I finished it. The writing was impeccable. I can’t wait for the next one!
This book had me completely hooked from start to finish. I loved the racing element, and Ransom and Quinn’s journey kept me invested every step of the way. Despite knowing each other since high school, they both spent years believing the other couldn’t stand them. Now, forced into each other’s orbit, they can’t escape the undeniable chemistry between them.
Ransom was all in from the beginning, while Quinn took a little longer to catch up. Aaron Donahue and Mandy Figueroa absolutely nailed the dynamic between them. The tension, longing, and emotional buildup were palpable throughout the story.
Between the fast pace, high stakes danger and the thrilling racing scenes, this audiobook was an incredibly entertaining listen. I couldn’t get enough of it!
I hate it when a book starts or mentions spiralling MCs especially an MFC who does idiotic things like getting filmed having sex with random people while she is high! Like how the hell is this something that might attract a reader to keep reading.
Yes teenagers in high school do some stupid shady spineless shit but it is absolutely disgusting and vulgar and wrong and shitty and just NO!!!
God, this world has degraded and slumped so low that there is no self respect, pride, moral values, decency, decorum or common sense and worst of all authors normalising this as a normal escapegoat for whatever disturbed and hormonal teenagers go through. Well get a grip on your lives and pick up some dignity while you’re at it. Coz no matter how shitty your life is, turning to alcohol, drugs and sex is not the answer and no you are never excused to do so.
This is deplorable! Enough is enough. They are cutting teenagers so much slack that it is just absurd the amount of debauchery, degeneracy and corruption that is happening in real life and cleared for in YA books.
Instead of focusing on mental strength, character building, solid family ties, support system… etc, authors just refer to these horrible scenarios that are just disgraceful.
I needed smth easy to read that won't take me a lot of time so I saw this on ytb and started it ! I didn't hate it but didn't enjoy it too , It was smth that I just didn't needed idk what I tough .. Not a long review btw !
Quinn & Ransom : Quinn pissed me tough the whole book she just was so naive sometimes she attracted problems and searched for them ig ? She found the worst best friend josie who posted a trap of her and her shitty ex , she fell for " the bad boy " Ransom this one was the grumpy guy the kind of " touch her and I'll kill you .." I liked how he acted sweet and gently with Quinn offered all he had to her so sweet .
Scott and Fox : These ones where the best characters of the whole book , I rlly want to read their story's , they where here for Quinn and Ransom tough the whole book supported them and helped them ! I just fell for Fox more than all the MMC lol ..

Just finished listening to an advanced copy of an audiobook that was just released on June 23rd called, Heart Wrenched. This is about Quinn, after being hurt and humiliated by her now ex-boyfriend, she decides college will be a fresh start to focus on her life and her future. But she needs a job to pay for college and after a night that doesn't go as planned she ends up at Ransom and his crew's garage being offered a job. She's known Ransom since high school and has always had a crush on him even though she thinks he hates her. Ransom has had his eyes on Quinn ever since high school, and he thought he lost his chance with her back then but now she's here, working in his garage, and back in his life again. But can he convince her he's worth taking a chance on, when she has her heart so guarded because of her past? I absolutely flew through this audiobook because this was such an entertaining story! I loved that Ransom was the "bad boy" but was actually such a good guy, that Quinn grew throughout the story finding her voice and confidence, the fast cars and racing, the garage crew, and the found family in this book! There was suspense, spice, twists, banter, and undeniable chemistry! This was such a truly enjoyable audiobook, it was a duet narration and the narrators did an amazing job bringing these characters to life. It was so easy to imagine this story in my head as I was listening, it felt like a movie in my mind! I am soo eager to listen to the rest of the crew's books! 🩵📚
Thank you to Kate Crew for this ALC of Heart Wrenched, in exchange for an honest review.

Quinn and Ransom knew each other in high school and both had crushes on the other but he believed she thought she was too good for him and his friend fox even told him to stay away from her multiple times. She thought he hated her because he was always scowling at her. She dated a loser to try to get over her bad boy phase and ended up with a cheating lover. Josie, her "best friend," predictably was the one who released the video to help her get on the right path. Every guy she gets set up with propositions her for sex not long after meeting her and is at bare minimum a douche about it. The best part of the book is the people who work at the garage. Her found family is amazing, and Scout was hands down my favorite. Quinn gets better at the end of the book but is mostly unlikable imo. She strings ransom along and is insulting to him on multiple occasions, all under the guise of being scared of repeating her bad decision of the one guy she dated logan. Even with all that, she still gets intimate with him, and he does nothing but try to protect her and take care of her. Also, she is so worried about repeating her mistakes with the sex tape but then gets intimate in public several times. (On a car in the middle of the road, at a carnival behind the fun house). Make it make sense.
