Narrative: *****
This is an expertly executed expose about Black Rhino slaughter in Africa. It started with Arabs kidnapping a boy to try to force the father to stop his crusade against such heinous poaching because they were paying the poor desperate natives to do so since daggers/knives made with the horn were so prized and valuable in the Middle East. Then the titular family made their way to Kenya to stop the slaughter by catching worst group of culprits. The plight of the animal is portrayed with paramount panache.

I had a heady philosophy session when one of the characters said: "You can measure the worth of a nation by its attitude towards animals.".

I found it interesting that everyone referred to the vehicles that they were driving as "Jeeps" when you could see "Suzuki" in some panels if you look for it. If it was an U.S. translation I'd understand but I guess Brits use "Jeep" generically for that sort of vehicle as well.

I appreciated the integration of many words in Swahili.

Art: ****
He is so good at nature! The landscapes and the number of different African animals and their detail strongly impressed me.

I constantly went back to the top left of a two-page spread to reinspect all of the intricacies after I finished reading before I flipped the page.
