I've read the first six books The descriptions are exceptional. I felt like I was right there during the battles. I liked the characters and I felt like they had become friends. However, starting with book 5, the typographical errors, wrong words (e.g. heard for herd), and poor sentence structure started to appear. Book 5 started with a few errors in the beginning and increased throughout the book. I can't help but wonder why Mr. Cook's editor hasn't caught the numerous errors starting with book 5. I've stayed up late reading these books. The conversations are very well done and go from very humorous to very sad. Mr. Cook, get a good proofreader!
An ok installation in the series, with lots of twists and turns. The series moves from the Pacific theater to the European in a less satisfactory telling. The reader is clear and well modulated but sadly his German accent is a cross between Pepe le Pew and Australian. I would prefer sticking to the Pacific.
The author has written a great story of how the effects the Navy’s submarine surveillance and detection was instrumental in winning many battles. Full of action and suspense that will keep you entertained.
outstanding. Jarvis temp Co in the Atlantic, and Turner in the Pacific
This series never ceases to captivate. Submarines in both major theaters having to overcome always being outnumbered. A truly good read, looking for the next installment. Recommend
First, every book Mr. Cook has written has been engaging, entertaining and one I didn't want to put down. The story lines and excellent and the way that he makes the characters come to life is top notch. All I can say is I want more!
The action starts and never stops. Plenty of naval (and human) drama here. Some proof-reading would help though as typos and mis-spelled words occurred too often. Will look forward, however, to another book from Mr. Cook!
These get better and better. It's nice to know there's at least one more and then the spin offs. WW2 submarine warfare. Written good enough that you can get totally into it. Read the series.
Heavy research. Colorful representation. Real characters and escapades with a growing sense of family. Book 5 or 6 and loving every moment. Will miss the characters when the series ends.
Never served on a sub. Just a jar head but this book is a good time and a good read. I severed with Marines who ski color was different from mine. When the fight starts it's all forgotten and you go color blind.
Excellent, excellent, excellent! This one never slows down and the pages fall behind you quickly. Great characters and cultural tensions that only add to the battle at hand. Don’t miss it!
Well, this is the first of Scott Cook’s books I’ve read but not the last. Truly enjoyed it but would have been helpful with an explanation of some terms or a glossary as some of the slang was not found by Google. Highly recommend.
In a word excellent, it is impossible to put down. I recommend the series to all adventure buffs. A great series, looking forward to the next adventure.
