Humorous, suspenseful, and romantic!
In this latest novel by St. Klaire, Brother’s Keeper III: Luke, the gregarious O’Reilly gang is back, and this time the scarred, ruggedly-handsome Luke may find that defending the sweet, fun-loving Daisy from the ruthless killers hunting her down is easier than protecting his heart from falling in love.
The writing is witty and tight. The characters are intelligent, strong, and resourceful. And the plot is a twisty, engaging mix of greed, corruption, friendship, politics, family, military operations, violence, smoking chemistry, smoldering tension, sexy times, and murder.
Brother’s Keeper III: Luke is the third title in the Brother’s Keeper series, and if you ask me it just keeps getting better and better. It’s steamy, fast-paced, and exciting and has everything you look for in romantic suspense novel and more.

Stephanie St. Klaire wastes no time sucking you into Brother’s Keeper III : Luke ! From line one of this book, all the way to the end, you won’t be able to put it down.
This HEA story of Luke O’Reilly, one of the Brother’s Keeper’s brothers, and Daisy, a witness put in his care, is full of humor, mystery, love (sex included!), and breaking down walls.
There were so many “favorite” parts in this book for me! From the parts that included Dick-the-dog, to the part with the drunken tattoo scene…Daisy’s Grandma’s interrogation, the “food poisonings”, the twists at the end….Yeah…you set the bar high, Stephanie! I LOVED Luke’s story!
I would really recommend reading this series in order, but this was my favorite of the Brother’s Keeper books so far, and I am REALLY looking forward to Dace’s story!!!

Luck is not on Daisy King’s side. First, she witnesses a Senator being murdered and then while hightailing it out of the senator’s home, all the while vowing to never again watch crime shows, as being part of a crime scene was far less than entertaining as it looks on television. That is if she makes it out alive and her not too trustworthy car decides to start up. Just when she thinks she is in the clear she gets snatched right out of the parking lot and lands on the doorstep of the O’Reilly clan.
Luke O’Reilly finds himself saddled with this petite little spitfire. One he can’t seem to get out of his mind. Luke is definitely not relationship material. He has seen and done things during his military career, until he was honorably discharged. He is a military man through and through and civilian life is hard enough to become adjusted to without the added stress of a quirky client that makes him feel things he never felt before.
Can Luke keep Daisy safe without risking his heart in the process? Or will Daisy worm herself into his life and Make Luke realize that love and family is what he deserves?
I knew right from the beginning, after starting to read this story, that it was going to be a keeper, especially since I was already laughing before I hit page ten. Daisy is quite the character with a flare for dramatics, especially within the first few pages of the story. I couldn’t help myself from liking her or keep myself from giggling when she was snatched by whom she thought was a “big bad guy.”
There are a lot of comedic scenes thrown into the story that I really loved. I especially love that there is a dog named Dick and a funny scene with Dick and Daisy that had me rollin. But, by no means did it take away from the emotional side of the situation either. Daisy’s life is in danger and you can feel the tension in the air. You know something is going to happen and when it does, I was not prepared for the twists and turns that it would take. Just when you think it is all over Stephanie St. Klaire throws another twist into the mix that leaves you right on the edge of your seat again.
Now, for the finale, let’s talk about those O’Reilly Brothers. OMG! HOT HOT HOT!!! These are the type of guys that make you just want to turn around and smack your real life boyfriend/husband with the book and say “Why can’t you be like them!” I for sure found my new book boyfriends. Yes! I said boyfriends. They are all mine and I am NOT sharing!

I will admit that I have not read the previous two books (hangs my head in shame) and I can not wait to get my greedy little hands on them. I don't know if I read the book everyone else seems to have read. The average rating of this novel (at the time of posting this so-called review) is 4.81 stars and that's mind-blowing considering how much I disliked this novel (or the percentage that I got through by sheer force of willpower).
Daisy is the type of heroine I've learned to despise. She's too trusting (very early on without anyone giving her any reason for her to begin to trust them) and naive to the point of being gullible. When problems arise her response is to run away (even though there are big bad people that are looking to possibly kill her if she does venture out into the world). Her self-preservation instincts need to be readjusted and it would be helpful if she would just talk to someone about how she's feeling instead of wanting people to read her mind.
Luke was weird. I understand and have no problem with him being so quiet and stonefaced. I've come to love quite a few books that feature male characters like this. My problem was his creep factor.
Overall, I dislike this book very much. I've pushed myself to read up to the 29% mark and I can't take it anymore.

Daisy King has gotten the shock of a lifetime. Luke O’Reilly and his brothers are just the right men to get the job done. Luke, however, has some self-doubt about his part in what they do. We don’t see it very often but he shows a vulnerability – not that he’s happy about that. Daisy isn’t one to take things lying down. She’s willing to tell it like it is and call BS when warranted.
One thing that was interesting was having a female writer take her male characters and have them discuss how women behave. She would have to get into the mind of a man – and isn’t that a tough thing to do. And they’ll never figure us out anyway. I hate to say it but that also works both ways. One thing they always seem to have a hard time doing is saying “I love you” or trying to show it.
You can see how much the O’Reilly’s love each other. But that doesn’t mean that they still won’t mess up – insert foot. That’s the point where I say, “Ok big guy how are you going to fix this one?” Then I get comfortable as I watch and wait to see what he does. I have a mean streak too. I’m wringing my hands because City, if you want to know who that is – read the book, makes a threat and I really want to see that play out. Our author keeps the suspense going throughout the story and that just has me wiggling in my seat and leaving me with a smile.
There’s no problem if you read Luke’s story first. Everything flows along nicely so that you won’t have to feel like you have to start at the beginning of the series. But after reading Luke’s story, you may find that you like what the O’Reilly’s have to offer and want to know more about his siblings that you have to seek out what you have missed. And their saga isn’t finished. The author is nice enough to let us know that there are two more books coming. You will have to have patience since they’re not coming out right away – see, plenty of time to read books one and two.

I was annoyed by chapter five. Probably not a good sign.
While the first four chapters were mostly decent in introducing me to the root of the story, by the time that fifth chapter came strolling in, I was mostly done for. Something about the onslaught of characters conversing with each other as if they were prepubescent tweens instead of the full-grown women that they're supposed to be just aggravated me to the max. I wanted so badly to jump ship and I probably should have.
But alas, I decided to stick it out and hold on for dear life. Sure, I opted to skim chunks of the story to get by rather than actively invest in anything, but at least I made it through. It's not like this story had any meaning to it anyway. Besides, if the author decided to take shortcuts in her own story by skipping over crucial character developments that were meant to help me give a damn, why should I do anything different?
That was a direct excerpt from the book and was the extent of how the "relationship" between Daisy and Luke developed. Background stuff. There's a LOT of moments where I'm being told things rather than shown (a MAJOR pet peeve of mine) and I'm supposed to just buy it? No. That's not how it works. Just because characters speak or think about how fantastic another character is, it doesn't make it so. You absolutely MUST show me examples of this. But that wasn't the case in this book.
Daisy was a frickin' nuisance of woman, stupid in almost every way and existing just to be rescued from situations she puts herself in. Luke is barely better, a generic and stereotypical hero who exists to provide muscles and a penis. Their "love" had no justifiable existence simply because I wasn't witnessing them spend a convincing amount of time together to make it feel real. Everything was cringe. Forced. Eye-rolling. Dumb.
Honestly, the only mildly interesting thing in this book was the excerpt for the next one in this series. But given my negative experience of this one, I don't think I have the patience nor the necessary stamina to carry on any deeper. I'm officially moving on. And it's probably for the best.

It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t hard either, and it just became who they were."

Stephanie St. Klaire has become one of my favorite authors. Each book has hot Alpha guys & strong secure women. The women support their men in every way & the men protect them.
Daisy was in the wrong place at the wrong time & witnessed an execution. The O'Reilly's plucked her up off the street & whisked her away to safety. While they kept her safe, they began to investigate & see what was going on.
Luke considered himself a killer. It didn't matter that the men he killed were criminals & that he saved a large number of innocent victims, he had blood on his hands. He was determined to keep himself alone. There was no way anyone would accept this part of him.
Daisy comes off as a hippie wild child so I really didn't see how the combination of her & serious Luke was going to work. Man, am I glad I was wrong! The two characters were perfect for each other. She pulled him out of his own head & brought out a fun loving side he didn't know he had. He actually calmed Daisy down & settled her.
The plot of this story is action packed. It had twists & turns & just when you thought everything was smooth sailing, it twisted again! The story grabbed my attention from the first page & I dove in. When I finally looked up, I had just read the last word! I can't wait to read the next story!

Who needs a TV to watch action thrillers when I have the Brother's Keeper series on my kindle? Each book in this series has had me on the edge of my seat engrossed in the mystery that is trying to destroy them or someone they love. Like all great TV series, this book has the most amazing recurring characters.
In Luke, I got to watch Luke O'Reilly crumble at the feet of a woman. He who protests the loudest falls the hardest and I loved reading every word. If their was a mistake to made in the relationship, he made it. If there was something to screw up I just knew he would do it in style. Worse of all he falls for a client, something he swore he would never ever do. He falls hard for Daisy, the only one strong enough to put up with him .
Daisy was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Luck for Daisy, the right people were nearby. She is rescued by Carter Landry, U.S. Attorney and whisked away under the cover of darkness. She finds herself within the protective walls of Watermark many states away from her home in Nashville.
The place maybe beautiful, but when you can't leave it is still a prison. She may be safe for now, but she isn't free and with Luke as her keeper, she might as well be behind bars. Luke is all about the rules and they are made not to be broken. Talk about conflict!!! Steam blowing out their ears, screaming, mumbling and defiance create the best tension for the reader. And the romance--HOT!!!!!
I guess it would be easier for everyone if they knew who was behind the deaths, the kidnapping. But the suspense, the guessing, the detective work, the spying, the computer hacking make this book a must read.
It made the book an addiction. This book was a thrill to read. The slow growing romance between Daisy and Luke has disaster written all over it one minute and the happily ever after the next. The explosive emotions were a joy to read, laugh over, cry over, and hope it all works out in the end.

Luke is all about the rules and they are made not to be broken. Talk about conflict!!! Steam blowing out their ears, screaming, mumbling and defiance create the best tension for the reader. And the romance--HOT!!!!!
I guess it would be easier for everyone if they knew who was behind the deaths, the kidnapping. But the suspense, the guessing, the detective work, the spying, the computer hacking make this book a must read.
It made the book an addiction. This book was a thrill to read. The slow growing romance between Daisy and Luke has disaster written all over it one minute and the happily ever after the next. The explosive emotions were a joy to read, laugh over, cry over, and hope it all works out in the end.

Luke is Book #3 in the Brothers Keeper Series. Not necessary to read in order.
I loved this book, and in each book before Ms. St. Klaire has suspense, laugh out loud moments, passion between her characters. This had it and much more. Hang onto to your seats with Luke.
He is definitely one of my favorites..
Luke didn’t know what he was up against when he walked into his apartment. The women he now knew as Daisy was sitting in his apartment. She had witnessed something, and now needed protection. She needed to stay hidden. Well that’s just what he and his brothers would do. That’s what they did. What he didn’t expect was the feelings she brought out in him. He was not a feeling kind of guy. He did things in his past, and present which were necessary. He kept locked up. It wasn’t until Daisy he wanted to change.
Daisy didn’t know what was going on. Well on one hand yes. But staying with Luke was not supposed to feel like this. She couldn’t get close to him. Once all this was over she would go back to her life. Other then her Grandmother this was the first time she felt like part of a family. Luke’s Brothers, and
family were great to her..

LUKE!!!! OMG!!!! Where did he come from?? I realize he was in the other stories but o honestly didn’t put much weight into what his story would be and I went in before reading the blurb. I knew I love the author and this series so the about section wasn’t that necessary I was excited to read it either way. And then I read it and seriously couldn’t stop. Luke is the best thing that this author has written, ever! Watching Luke’s struggle with what he wants versus what he thinks he deserves was delightful. And is the perfect mix of damsel and defiant. Her strength and fear are something incredible go read because it feels so real. As with all novels by this author the stories are realistic and believable, it makes you feel like true life and not a work of fiction, which amps up the danger they encounter. I loved Luke and Daisy so very much as well as watching the rest of the brothers continue with life. Can’t recommend it enough!

Luke is sexy and broady. He grunts alot and feels like he deserves no happiness in his life. A military alpha who would die for his family and friends.
Daisy is a spunky girl with an amazing singing talent. She is in the wrong place and sees something she should not. Now in hiding and under the protection of Luke sparks fly. She is everything Luke needs but feels he does not deserve.

This was the first book that I've read from Ms. St. Klaire and what a rollercoaster ride!! I couldn't stop reading it!!!
Luke, the emotionally broken hero until Daisy came along and made him be able to 'feel' again.
Daisy caught in a time and a place that she didn't expect to be in but it brought her to the best thing in her life.
They both have flaws. Neither one is perfect, but in the end, it's perfect for them!
I laughed, I cried...literally...and was on the edge of my seat!!! Action, adventure, comedy, romance and hot steamy love scenes!!
This one is a definite must read...it will keep you on the edge of your seat and I can't wait to read more!!!

As with the other two Brother's Keeper books, this book did not disappoint! Luke and Daisy have a rocky start but the rough beginning leads into an interesting friendship and ultimately a strong partnership.
There were so many surprises in this book that I really enjoyed, from start to finish. Just when you think trouble is over, it comes again out of nowhere, leading Daisy and Luke on a thrilling (for the reader) journey.
Overall, this was an enjoyable book and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Too much
I liked the premise of the story, but there were SO many people and randomness happening, it was really challenging to follow. I nearly quit several times. The twist at the end was a surprise, but also completely out of left field, making it feel really disjointed.

Dang. Just when I thought I had a favorite in this series, Stephanie had to go and write a better one. I was sucked into Luke's story from the very beginning. I mean wow! His story blew me away.
Luke is broken. He has done some unsavory things in his life for the good of his country and family. All this has taken its toll on his emotional well-being. He thinks that he is unworthy of love and happiness. But when an unexpected job lands in his lap in the form of a petite and beautiful woman, things start to change and this scares him more than his demons.
Daisy is a sweet girl with an angel voice, who just happens to witness a senator's murder. When she makes a run for it she ends up kidnapped by US Attorney Carter. Now a key witness she must be protected. Who does Carter turn to? His close friend Luke, that's who.
Luke's story is an emotional journey. What better person to pull Luke out of his ass, than Daisy. These two are magnetic, yet strong-willed. Daisy has a calming effect on Luke and he struggles with the feelings she causes him. She shows him that he is more than a murderer. That he is good right down to the core. That what he does is not evil when it saves so many.
This book was action packed from the very first chapter, as all the books in this series seem to be. It has so many twists and turns that you won't know who is the one pulling the strings till the very end and even then you will be fooled.
You will fall in love with this series. The characters are amazing and lovable. Luke might just be my favorite brother. He's the quiet type, too much in his past to think there's much good coming in his future. Then Daisy comes into the picture. She would probably do well in some witness protection program if it weren't for the fact that people in the government are after her for witnessing something she wasn't meant to see. Luke thinks he can simply do his job and protect her the way he does anyone else. But as things become more dangerous, the attraction between them gets hotter. Even when they think they've got everything figured out, the brothers discover nothing is as it seems. It's a fight to stay alive and try to find a path that could lead to forgiveness and each other.
In true Stephanie St. Klaire form, you're never really sure who you can trust and who all of the players are. Right when things begin to look up in either the relationship department or the security department, something changes the game, and we're meandering down a path we didn't expect we'd have to take. The story was exciting and frightening and sexy. I wanted so much to see Luke come out of his shell and find the happiness he didn't think he deserved. They were two polar opposites who just needed to find someplace in the middle where they could teach each other what love is really about. I found myself holding my breath and stifling tears. It was fabulous. I can't wait to see what she brings us next.

Holy cow! Stephanie St. Klaire is certainly making a place for herself at the top with the best of romance writers. Her character's are so well developed, but that's not even the best thing about her writing. She creates a wonderfully woven story of romance that makes your heart throb, humor that makes you laugh out loud, suspense that makes your heart beat faster, sex that makes body parts throb and HEA's that make you cry. St. Klaire has it all!
These Brother's Keeper's stories continue to amaze me. Luke is a big tough guy who thinks his past and what he's done will make it impossible to ever have a long term relationship or be worthy of a woman's love. He's better off just doing his job of protecting people and country. His next job is to protect Daisy. That is, if he can ever get her to shut up!

She wakes the next morning, finds a pastry, glass of water and a note from Carter Landry, who, when she meets him minutes later informs Daisy she's going to have to go away for a while for her protection.
Enter Luke O'Reilly, and his brothers, Wylie, Liam, Dace, Declan, all employees of Brother's Keeper Security, the highest security company. They keep people, like Daisy, safe (including locking them in a very hidden vault) until whoever is after them is caught, and generally fatally taken permanently out of action.
There is humor, sadness, fear, fights, computer wizardry, just about anything one could want in a book. Ms. St. Klaire has so much nonstop action, the reader may find it hard to get a breath in at times.

Luke doesn't feel worthy of love, because of his career and having killed. When tasked with a job protecting someone for a colleague he tries not to feel anything. Threats and risks everywhere in this fast paced read, it kept me gripped throughout and on the edge of my seat more than once. I love these guys, their humour and teasing between them all, their strong protective feelings for those they love and those they need to protect for the job. The women are all strong and fairly independent, but also sassy and vulnerable at times. The stories are ones you just lose yourself in reading, I find I become a part of them, seeing and feeling what the characters are. I first read Stephanie's McKenzie Ridge series and loved it, I have followed and looked out for her books since then. So worth the five stars and more these stories are just what I want in a book, to get lost, forget everything else and just see it all with my own imagination as I'm reading, this is what reading is all about. Bring on the next one soon please.

Underneath beats the heart of a guilty man, one seeking redemption, but too afraid of being undeserving of salvation. Daisy King needs saving and rescuing, but soon realises that her heart is quickly lost to a man who doesn't think he's good enough for her. Add in extra complications and he begins to run scared. The constant: he always comes to her rescue, but will he save her when it means the most?
I like the way the brothers roughhouse and tease each other. Through it all, there's love, acceptance and family. I also like the way everyone went out of their way to make Daisy feel accepted, and the way they rallied around her when Luke was being less than human. I'm definitely a fan, and I look forward to the rest of these brothers' stories.

Good
Daisy is helping a friend when she witnesses a murder of a senator. She is quickly swept away and taken to Portland. She is very confused and scared. She is taken to a building that belongs to the O'Reilly brothers.
Luke and his brothers own a security business. Luke is former military and was released when he was injured. He believes he should be alone and doesn't deserve a happily ever after.
Luke has promised to keep Daisy safe but tries to keep her at arms length. Daisy believes Luke is one of the best but it's convincing him of it that will be hard. When Daisy is taken, Luke will stop at nothing to save the woman who has captured his heart.
I really liked this story. The only thing that drove me crazy was all the dialogue running together. It was aggregating trying to figure out who was saying what. Action. Sex. Suspense. A grumpy guy and a slightly hyper woman. I thought they were made for each other.

Luke and his brothers own a security business. Luke is former military and was released when he was injured. He believes he should be alone and doesn't deserve a happily ever after.
Luke has promised to keep Daisy safe but tries to keep her at arms length. Daisy believes Luke is one of the best but it's convincing him of it that will be hard. When Daisy is taken, Luke will stop at nothing to save the woman who has captured his heart.
I really liked this story. The only thing that drove me crazy was all the dialogue running together. It was aggregating trying to figure out who was saying what. Action. Sex. Suspense. A grumpy guy and a slightly hyper woman. I thought they were made for each other.

Broken Soldier
Luke & Daisy's story wss great. It was action packed as well. The brother's are a hoot, as are the women and their mother. Luke O'Riley feels he doesn't deserve what two of his brothers have. He is a broken soldier, so he feels, and a hardened mercenary. Too many kills to count. He and his brothers are going to help Carter with a case that is brewing. Part of that is keeping a woman safe who has witnessed the murder of a U.S. Senator. Daisy can't believe her luck, she ends up in the wrong place to witness a murder. Now she has been kidnapped, by a group of huge men and scary women. It's the man that is charged with her very close protection that makes her shiver as bad as those she is hiding from.
I could not rate this higher because I felt Regan and the O'Riley matriarch should have had some dialogue during Liam's wedding

On the plus side, the o'reilly brothers gave some excellent laugh out loud moments BUT, and it's a big one, Daisy, the MFC is actually annoying. You're told your life is in danger and been through some real cloak and dagger stuff to get you to safety but you walk out the door more than once?! Really?!
Also, there's a lot of times where you're told things rather than shown, which I'm not a fan of. The time frames and timings are weird, she makes out in an early chapter she's been there forever, then the next chapter it's been like a week. Urgh.
I finished the book because I'm stubborn and wanted to know who was behind it all. And whilst the suspense parts were OK, they were also a bit tell rather than show and it wasn't enough to redeem this story in my eyes.
I can see why others love it but it's just not for me. I can't get over the things that bugged me.
