I wouldn’t consider this an enemies to lovers trope because Milo was the sweetest and very apparent to have crush on Jamie. Now for Jamie being the victim of bullying she was beyond rude and cruel to Milo. Wasn’t my cup of tea. So many issues.

Jamie is your typical tomboy – she roller-skates, plays football, hangs out with the boys and beats them at video games. And yet, there is another side to Jamie, one she hides from everyone. She secretly wants a movie romance, longs for someone to come along and sweep her off her feet. But how could she ever get that when she’s friends with all the boys?
When she starts to fall behind at school, and with the threat of her scholarship being taken away hanging over her, Jamie has no choice but to be tutored by her best friend’s brother. And although Milo has always been the brunt of her’s and Kai’s jokes, she can’t help but like him. Perhaps a little too much. There is a connection there, and one that Jamie didn’t necessarily want to have happen with Milo of all people – but even she can’t deny the fluttering of her heart.
Once again, Milly Rose has knocked it out of the park with another swoon-worthy romance fest! I couldn’t stop reading this book, and stayed up much too late reading it, and ended up falling asleep reading it once or twice because I simply refused to go to sleep!
I absolutely loved Jamie’s character. She is not flawless, she is struggling in school, is quick to anger, and finds it impossible to talk to other girls, but she is incredibly likeable. Her dedication, when she finally puts her mind to something, is admirable, and her passion for football is lovely to read about. She is an incredibly strong-willed person, and is not afraid to fight against injustice, or things she doesn’t feel are right. While I loved Jamie, I absolutely adored Milo. If only book boyfriends could exist in real life! Milo is so incredibly caring and kind, considerate about others, and ready to do anything he can to help out. He is all round an incredibly lovely guy.
I wouldn’t particularly call this an enemies to lovers story, as Jamie and Milo were never technically enemies. Jamie is very close with Kai, Milo’s twin brother, but Milo is the one with the brains and the capability to tutor Jamie and ensure she gets the grades she needs to stay in Ashworth Academy. For a while, Jamie barely tolerates the tutoring, but I think that was more to do with the fact that she was being forced to do homework, rather than because she had to spend time around Milo. Personally, I think they had simply never had a reason to grow close before Jamie’s grades started to fall. Milo and Jamie’s romance is a particularly beautiful one. Jamie has longed for a fairytale romance for so long, and it just took Milo to arrive and sweep her off her feet to get what she so desired. Their relationship doesn’t progress too quickly, they take the time to get to know each other properly, but find themselves falling for each other very soon.
There is the added drama in this story of Jamie’s past, for her mother has a dark backstory that has been mostly hidden since her disappearance. Things start to reveal themselves as the story progresses, and there is a twist at the end of the book that allows things to fall into place regarding what truly happened to Jamie’s mother, and the truth behind secrets that were kept for far too long. While this isn’t a central part of the story, it does keep the whole story very realistic, and adds a certain depth of drama that makes you keep reading as you wait impatiently to find out the truth.
I think one of the things I love most about this series is that all the stories happen within the same school, so throughout all the books you get a glimpse into the other characters, and how they’re doing with their lives and relationships. In particular, we get to see Ash and Christie from Shy Girls Can’t Date Billionaires in this story, as Jamie and Milo spend some time with the couple. The interlocking storylines make the whole thing seem so much more three-dimensional, and giving a much greater depth to the story. Slowly, throughout the series, we learn more about the school, the areas around it, and the people who attend it, and I love meeting new people with each story.
I absolutely love reading Milly Rose’s books, and know I will be impatiently awaiting the next one. If you’ve never read one of her books before, get started now! There are three in this series so far, just sat out there waiting for you to pick one up and start reading!
– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone
– this is told from Jamie’s point of view
– Jamie’s mom has been missing for years prior to the start of this story
– there are multiple things mentioned about the life her mother lived in order to take care of her and her aunt: working at a club in very little clothes; being abandoned by her father as a child; seeing her mother abused by her stepfather & choosing to leave that environment with her little sister & daughter
– the kisses include tongue
Review:
I think this may be the first time I’ve read a best friend’s brother romance that had the best friend as a guy! I loved that change to the dynamic of the trope as it added some new issues to the budding romance that you don’t typically see. I loved how close Jamie and her best friend Kai were and that their interactions really didn’t make me think they felt romantically towards one another. It made it easier to see the story from Jamie’s point of view and how she wouldn’t necessarily think of what their friendship might look like to those around her. Seeing how close they were also made it so much easier to feel Jamie’s hurt and outrage when Kai started dating someone and spending more time with her than Jamie. I loved how sweet and encouraging Milo was with Jamie. Especially with how Jamie generally didn’t interact with Milo despite being over his house all the time to hang out with his brother and their friends. He gave her the benefit of the doubt that she could overcome her current rut with her grades just like she dominated on the field. Some of my favorite scenes in this book included: teaching Milo how to properly play soccer, Milo discovering Jamie’s romcom obsession, their tutoring sessions, the extra credit assignment scenes, and Jamie having grown to like Milo’s cat.
Summary:
Jamie is in danger of losing her scholarship to the fancy private school if she doesn’t get her grades up. In order to help her get higher grades, Jamie is benched from her soccer games and her aunt arranges for Jamie’s best friend’s brother, Milo, to tutor her. Which Jamie finds to be extremely boring and hard to do. She’d rather be out with the guys skating at the park than sitting and doing homework. But Jamie knows just how much it meant to her mother for her to attend this school and wants to make her proud. When she puts in the time and effort, Jamie finds herself not only doing better in school, but also looking forward to seeing Milo. She can’t get him out of her mind. Could he see her as more than his brother’s best friend and his tutee like she is beginning to see him?
Adorable book YA novel - but def for adults also (because I really liked it)!!!! I loved how well this book was written and how you felt for the characters, awesome read. This is part of a series but also can be read as a stand-alone story Here we have Jamie, Kai (who is Jamie's best friend and bother of the frienemies), and Milo. Told from Jamie’s point of view. Jamie is shy and can talk to the guys (tomboy) but when it comes to being friends with girls thats a whole different story she just freezes up. This is not only a great story of Jamie and Milo's interest in each other but also shows how these 2 characters have grown and changed for the better because of each other in their lives. It all starts off with Jamie having a problem in school with her grades and her aunt (who she lives with and don't worry you will get the backstory on all that in this book) turns to Milo for help. At first, Jamie is sooo upset about this but the more they hang out things start changing between the two and boy do a few things along get in the way of her and Kia's relationship. There is a ton of drama but it's not too bad but a great read for the adventure that they all go through. Ups and downs and also sooo many sweet moments that make you smile. It was refreshing to have a soft romance where there were not and spicy scenes, just kissing. (so def YA friendly). There was sooo much more in this book than just their relationship, tons of real-life issues that were brought up and handled well. Must read book!!!
I was able to read this book as an ARC and am super thankful for that. Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley. The review above is my own, honest and voluntary.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. Going in to this book, I did not know that this is a part of a series but its the kind of series where the books are pretty much standalones that are set in the same universe. This book functioned like a stand alone and did not require reading any of the previous books to understand. There was a pretty minor cameo from one of the earlier books but that is it, as far as I could tell. I am sure that people who have read the previous books in the series and readers who are young teens or tweens might feel differently, but this book really did not work for me. Firstly, I found the characters really one-dimensional, unrealistic, and unlikable (to the point of annoying). Jamie, the main character, is "not like other girls", only hangs out with guys (and can't even speak a full sentence in front of other girls her age), but is "relatable" because she has a dirty little secret- she loves rom coms and wants to have a boyfriend. She is also incredibly immature, even for a sixteen year old and can't understand anyone else's POV until drastic measures have been taken.. The thing about her immaturity that really bothered me was that it didn't really make sense with her background and life circumstances. She is also really judgmental of others while simultaneously ways in which other's shouldn't judge her for her circumstances (and even things she does that aren't good). I truly hated Jamie's relationship with Kai (even in the beginning of the book) and frankly hated Kai as a character. The problem is that Kai has basically no redeeming qualities but I am supposed to care about him because he is Jamie's BEST friend- even though in this book, we never see any best friend- like behavior from him. I found that Jamie and Milo's (romantic) relationship also lacked proper foundation and development. The writing in this book could have saved the lackluster character and relationship development but unfortunately it didn't really work for me. I think the pacing in this book could be a lot better- there were a lot of parts that and there is quite a bit of fat that needs trimming. Also there is some wording being used that felt very strange and uncomfortable- for instance, I will be perfectly happy never seeing or hearing the word suction again. I started skimming around the 40% mark- so sort of a dnf.
First I would like to thank Xpresso Book Tours for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is the newest Shy Girls book and I love meeting new characters this world.
The story is about Jamie, tomboy soccer star, and Milo, clumsy nerd and Jamie's best friend's twin, who are thrown together when Jamie's aunt convinces Milo to tutor her so she doesn't lose her scholarship. Its a story about perception and getting to know someone who you thought you knew most of your life.
What I liked: - Soccer, as a former soccer player myself I LOVE that Jamie can always rely on soccer to help her get her head straight. Also, the fact that she can beat up the boys as well is just great - Milo, he is a sweet quiet guy who low key had all of the best traits for a great first boyfriend. He loves to read, play board games and take care of his cat...those are all positives for me - Best friends, Jamie's best friend is Kai (Milo's twin brother) and I loved how they were friends with ZERO romantic feelings between them. It is hard to find those types of relationships in romance books these days and this book did such a great job. - Alfie, as a resident crazy cat lady I was OBSESSED that Milo had a cat and bonus that he named him Alfie (swoon) - Aunt Maddy, I am close with some of my aunts and its so nice to see a close niece/aunt relationship, bonus points for Maddy refusing to deal with Jamie's teenage antics - Previous characters, one of my favorite things about series is getting to revisit old characters and seeing who they are in through the eyes of new characters. There are a few scattered throughout this book and that was a fun surprise.
Overall this is a sweet young adult romance, it was kind of hard to stomach how Jamie and Kai treated Milo at the beginning and Jamie's reaction to Kai dating but it fit within the high school setting and narrative.
If you like sweet young adult books and are looking for a best friend's brother sports romance, I think this would fit the bill and maybe you can check out the other Shy Girls books after!
I read this book in three days (I didn’t log it on her until I was done so I don’t have the start date showing) and I had mixed opinions on it. Generally, I thought the plot was interesting. The idea of a girl falling in love with her best friends nerdy brother is super cute. I didn’t love how it was written though. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the book. I didn’t, however, like Jamie. Her insistence that she was just “one of the boys” and “not like other girls” bothered me, even though she didn’t use that exact wording. Another thing that bothered me was her and Kai’s friendship. Yes, when it came to big stuff Kai was there for her but they kept fighting over the most ridiculous stuff. I also didn’t like Kai. Just how he kept saying something along the lines of “you’re one of those brainwashed people who listens to this nonsense they teach us at school now?” Just because she was studying. No matter how many times she told him she had to, he never seemed to listen. I feel like I sound like I hated the book so let’s move onto what I did like.
My favorite character in this book might have been Christie. I know she was a minor character but she just seemed so sweet. I also liked Tabitha and Milo. Milo was really sweet to Jamie and honestly, I think he deserved better. Jamie insisted on keeping their relationship a secret, and I never really understood why, and she was very mean to him in the first halfZ The way Milo believed that Jamie could get her grades up the whole time was super sweet too. Other characters I liked are Aunt Maddy, Coach Anders, Milo’s parents and grandparents, and Ash.
Overall, it was a decent book. No where close to the best book I’ve read this year but it probably wasn’t the worst. The love story was super cute.
Welcome back to the halls of Ashworth Academy. (I love this place! 😍) Jamie is just “one of the boys”. Her best friend, Kai, (who calls her James, BTW) and his friends are the only people she feels comfortable around. Whenever she’s with girls her age she just freezes up and stutters her way awkwardly through. Her grades are dropping because she’s busy working in her family diner, at the skate park with her friends, playing soccer or training, she’s got no time for studying. Faced with the prospect of losing her scholarship and having to leave Ashworth she’s forced to study with Kai’s twin brother, Milo. Now Milo is not popular, he’s not athletic, he’s not cool in any way. If fact, he’s one of the most quiet, awkward, clumsy, uncoordinated people she’s ever met. Her and Kai frequently mock or tease him. But he IS always studying, or reading and he’s her only hope. But Jamie is not only having to study, she feels she’s also losing her best friend (to a girl, no less!) and they’re always arguing; coping with the ‘Miss Perfects’ bullying her at school about her absent mother amongst other things; her teammates grumbling because she’s been benched from playing soccer until her grades come up and some really weird feelings when she’s around Milo.
Milly Rose brings teen angst, drama and romance to life. I couldn’t put this down. Fast paced, captivating and easy to read. Heartfelt with some tragic moments, some light hearted humour, teen problems, drama and a budding romance. Truly a great YA read and highly recommended.
I received a free copy from the author and this is my honest review.
I enjoyed this YA novel about Jamie as her frenemy relationship with Milo developed into a romance. I liked Milo from the beginning, but with Jamie it was touch and go for a bit as I found Jamie’s behaviour and attitude pretty bratty and self-centred in the beginning so I had some trouble connecting with her at first. For instance, she was so hurt by the bullying behaviour of the Miss Perfects, but then she turned around and acted like a jerk to Milo, among other things. Fortunately, like all interesting characters should, Jamie showed character growth. I was so pleased to see her start to think about the feelings of her aunt (who had done so much for her), and recognize the positives in Milo, not to mention other people she had been judging. Her growing attraction and feelings for Milo were sweet and genuine, once she got over herself. Milo’s twin, Kai, is also Jamie’s best friend, and that presents some obstacles to Jamie and Milo’s burgeoning relationship. There is also a bit of intrigue over Jamie’s deceased mother, and I found myself very engaged in following it. The outcome wasn’t terribly surprising, but it was interesting. There are plenty of kissing/making out scenes, some with French kiss details, but not beyond that. I think I noted a few biblical level curses, and some substitute curses like “freaking”. I only read YA occasionally, but I find myself quite interested to read more of the stories in this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
My Review I received an ARC of this book. The book is out today. It was such a pleasure to read Shy Girls Can’t Date Frenemies by Milly Rose. I laughed, I smiled, and I teared up reading this book. Jamie and Milo were just so much fun. Watching them go from just saying hi to each other sometimes to being friends, then finally boyfriend and girlfriend was just a fun time. Seeing Jamie open up about the fact that though she is a tomboy, she loves rom-coms that she doesn’t understand things taught at school because she has trouble focusing in class to Milo was sweet. I also loved that Milo, in turn, opened up to Jamie about his problems. Their trade off was nice. He’ll help her study and she’ll teach him how to play soccer. Both Milo and Jamie were so relatable, I felt like we were friends. If I say anymore about this book, I’d end up giving spoilers and I don’t want to do that.If you are looking for a sweet, young adult romance, give Shy Girls Can’t Date Frenemies a try. I enjoyed every second of this book and can’t wait for the next one in the series!
I want to start off by saying, I enjoyed to this book enough to like it. The reason I say this is because there were certain things the characters (Jamie, Milo, &Kai) do that really irked/ pissed me off, makes me want to teleport into the story itself and knock some senses into them. Throughout the story, Jamie did show lots of self growth as a person so that was really good. As for the twins (Kai & Milo) I had expected for them to stand up to each other when boundaries are crossed and starts to become disrespectful especially Milo because Kai literally verbally and emotionally abused him and that's something I wanted to see more of in terms of standing up for himself more and becoming more vocal towards anyone who treats him like that not just his brother. This book had me so frustrated and pissed that the majority of time, I was talking/arguing to myself out loud. Overall, if you can get pass the difficulties this story has, it was an enjoyable and cute storyline
I was given an ARC for this book, so this is just my thoughts and opinion, everyone is entitled to their own. I say give this book a chance and see where it takes you.
I enjoyed this young adult romance story with all of characters within. The main characters were Jamie, Kai and Milo.
Jamie a teenager that is having fun with her friends and going to high school. When the high school informs her that if she doesn't get her grades up she will not be able to attend. She has a scholarship would be taken away. She not happy about this because now she has to study more. She been have fun with her friends and also playing soccer that is going to have to stop. But the worst is her aunt has found a person to help her with her study.
Kai and Milo are brother's but both like to do different activities. Kai likes sport and Milo like to study and read. Kai is friends with Jamie and like to spend time do activity that most boys like sports. Milo doesn't get along while with Jamie. But when Jamie need help with her study Milo decides to help.
This was a fun story to read. It had action and drama throughout. It had a few giggles within. That are some sad parts throughout.
I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley and BookSprout. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
I should thank Milly for sending me an Advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. So I am. THANK YOU GIRL!!
Because this might just be my favorite book in the series. And not just because it’s a soccer romance (as someone who played for 5 years, I love seeing some female soccer rep). I also enjoyed the mystery and secrecy that was brought into Jamie and Milo’s story. I loved the slow burn and Jamie’s stubbornness. And the way she develops throughout the story made me feel warm inside. Milo and Jamie were definitely a pairing that just, to me at least, looked and felt so natural. Add the banter, his nerdiness and clumsiness (I love a good clumsy MMC) and you’ve basically got this book in a nutshell.
This book comes out on May 28th and is on sale until release day so if you’ve got a thing for secret relationships, frenemies to lovers, and a BFB (best friend’s brother) story, then go pick this up. And if that doesn’t convince you, then here’s a quote from the book that should convince you even more:
“This is it. My ultimate rom-com moment.” - Jamie West
The beginning of the story where we are introduced by the main character, Jamie West, and her friendship with Kai Nelson was interesting in that as best friends, there was no romance between them, which was a little refreshing to read about when there are so many male-female friendships that end up being in jeopardy because one or both parties end up liking the other person.
Then enters the wallflower that is Milo, but he isn't one as we get to know him. I think the fact that his twin brother Kai seems to have such a bigger-than-life personality drowns out a lot of Milo's unique and wonderful characteristics about him because he is unique and wonderful. I like the sincerity and kindness he continues to show Jamie all throughout the story. And yes, who doesn't love a slow-burn? Her coming to terms with her feelings for Milo was hilarious in that I could totally relate to.
Anyway, this was a good book, and I'm glad I was able to read it. It's the first book of Milly Rose's that I've read so far.
I received an ARC copy from the author and all thoughts are my own.
Overall a fun read, and while “punk and nerd” is a common trope, this book does it well. The main couple is cute, and there are some genuinely sweet moments, but you will see a LOT of typical rom-com moments (which, funnily enough, the book itself will point out are rom-com moments).
The downside to the book is that the second half falls flat. There’s a lot of buildup on things like “what happened to my father?” or “how will my best friend react to me dating his twin?” or even just you, as the reader, “when will these characters learn that they’re being brats and change their ways?”
Results range from “a super quick answer that feels rushed” to “not much of an answer at all.”
For example, the main character and her best friend are, in so many ways, insufferable teenagers. And you’d think by the end of the book they’d learn that they’re kind of suck and maybe they’d reflect on it and stop. They do stop, but there isn’t much reflection or acknowledging how they’ve been.
All in all, it’s a quick and easy read of what would, again, be a romantic comedy you’d find on Netflix.
This was a sweet, high school story with nothing more than kissing involved. I wouldn’t call it enemies to lovers, as Jamie and Milo weren’t enemies and he never did anything bad to her or have open animosity. He actually had a long standing crush on her. So, the title is misleading. The story is well-thought out with a variety of twists and turns. We see Jamie mature as she faces revelations at school and at home. We follow her unexpected and growing attraction to Milo. The lack of editing was a distraction, though. Numerous grammatical errors took away from the story. Please hire a good editor next time since the author struggles with grammar. It’s an insult to readers to ask us to pay for books with basic errors like spelling, tense, etc. Makes it feel very amateurish. This story would have been great for a young adult reader. I like all kind of romance, both clean and spicy, but this felt like the audience should be very young.
Jamie West didn’t start out as my favorite character, but as the story line progressed, she began to learn a bit about not judging others, and that was a big improvement. It allowed her to see “nerdy” Milo Nelson in a new way and see what a good person he is. So when she is uncomfortably aware that she is not doing well in the private school she attends, when she may lose her chance to continue playing soccer because of it, and could ultimately lose her scholarship if her grades don’t improve, she accepts that she needs to be tutored by Milo, who is her best friend's twin brother. Will time spent together help them get to know each other better? Will they be willing to enter a real relationship where they can care about each other and fall in love? Or will Kai, Milo’s twin, be upset at what is going on between them?
-High school love -Best friend brother -Sport Romance -Rom-Com -Secret Relationship
Jamie and Milo
Milo is the uncoordinated/ a nerd and Kai seem to hate his brother for being smart. He agree to help Jamie because he need to pass physical education and Jamie was good at sport
Jamie a tomboy and a soccer player and failing her classes and needed help from Milo her best friend twin brother. She would be kick out of the soccer and school. and she would make fun of Milo, when Kai was around which I didn’t like that at all.
I like how this two character came together, Jamie balancing her friendship with Kia he interested in girls which Jamie seem kind of betrayed because they tell each other everything, her secret relationship with Milo, and balancing school.
Jamie West is the awkwardly shy girl who is a tomboy & just can’t seem to jive with other girls. She has no problem hanging with the guys & her best friend, Kai, & that’s how she prefers it. Soccer is her life & everything takes a backseat to it…including her grades.
Milo Nelson is the brilliant, dare I say nerdy yet very clumsy twin brother of the ever popular Kai. He’s a wallflower to Kai’s exuberant personality. But when Jamie’s aunt approaches him to help tutor Jamie, he very willingly agrees.
As expected, Jamie is not on board with her new tutor sessions, but when her coach steps in since her scholarship is on the line, she reluctantly relents. Jamie starts seeing a side of Milo that is often overshadowed by her best friend. As she gets to know him more, she finds that she likes the true Milo. As she & Kai are slowly drifting apart for multiple reasons, she finds solace in confiding in Milo & their relationship grows.
I will say that I’m not typically a huge YA reader, but I have enjoyed the other books I’ve read by this author. That being said, the teenage attitudes and selfish natures of both Kai & Jamie made me roll my eyes, sneer, & maybe cringe a little. The adults in this story are better than me, I can say that 🤣.
Overall, very cute story, & a reminder to look past your comfort zone…you might find something amazing out there.
Shy Girls Can't Date Frenemies by Milly Rose is the third story in her Shy Girls Sweet Romances world. And I love a brainy boy!
😍🤩🔥🥰
Jamie is a soccer loving tomboy who needs to improve her grades or get kicked out of school. Her aunt and best friend's mom arrange that she be tutored by Milo, her best friend's twin. Insert giant (angry) eye roll ... to study instead of going to practice or games or hanging out with her bestie, Kai. *sigh*
Oh the sweet twists and turns of this enemies to sweet lovers tale. You can read this as a standalone! Yes, other characters from previous books appear, but the story is centered on Jamie and Milo and their families.
Thank you for the eArc, Milly Rose! All opinions are my own.
Falling for my best friend's twin brother was not part of the plan...
At my fancy private school, I’m the poor girl. I’m also a lousy student, jeopardizing my scholarship. Even worse, my soccer coach benches me until my grades improve. My only hope is mind-numbing tutoring sessions with nerdy Milo. While we study, his cologne wafts my way. I fixate on his hands. Soon, his voice lulls me into fantasy. It’d horrify my best friend to know I’m crushing on his twin brother, whom we agreed is the enemy. This attraction must stay a secret. But when Milo leans in with those kissable lips, deep down, I know what I want. this was a quick read for me that had me staying up too late to finish.i received an advanced copy of the book from the author and I'm voluntarily leaving an review.
This is an average YA rom-com with 'not like other girls' trope.
Pluses: - HFN ending (the hero deserves someone better) - The fake-baby assignment - The little cat
Minuses - There were waaayyy too many soccer scenes for my liking. I get it that the heroine is a tomboy and soccer fanatic. But I didn't want to read lengthy chapters explaining how ball is kicked and blah blah..
- Again, the heroine is totally immature, behaving like a 12-year-old sometimes. Since her age is supposed to be just 16, it's still okay in a way.
- She goes 'eww' at every single thing which is not up to her liking. Was that really necessary??
- Romance is just the subplot and the story is more of heroine's personal journey of becoming better at school.
YA romance is my guilty pleasure. There’s just something about first crushes, first kisses, and first loves that makes me go, Awwwwwwwww! The Shy Girl series is a win for me, so far. This is the second Shy Girl book I’ve read but the third book in the series. They don’t really have to be read in order, though but some characters do appear in other books. The romance is sweet but there’s a lot of angst surrounding the MFC. There’s best friend drama, failing grades, bullying, family tragedy, and a bit of mystery. I really enjoyed it and the ending was mostly happy, with the epilogue giving hints of the next story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
From the first book in the series to this one, it’s been interesting getting to know theses characters and how their stories have such an impact on their school/life experiences. There are some repeating characters, although they are limited to a small “cameo” roles. I definitely think this is a YA read for someone looking for a “clean” high school romance that is interesting and allows the characters to work through a lot of misconceptions based on outward looks and actions. An enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more about these characters.

More like an annoying brother than enemy or frenemy
Loved it!
I think Jamie was well written as a "one of the boys" character. Her strong relationship with her sister was believable and handled well.
Milo is so sweet and misunderstood. He seemed more like an annoying brother rather than an enemy or frenemy. I feel like for an enemy/frenemy situation it should be between both characters. Here, it was Jamie and Kai (Milo's twin) who considered Milo a frenemy. Whereas Milo liked Jamie.
The slight mystery in the book was a great addition. I am so glad all was resolved/revealed by the end of the book -- no loose ends!
I love Milly Rose!!! Her writing style, and her stories, I love it!!!!! It was a long time ago since I read a YA book. The story was so sweet that my teeth ached (in a good way). I loved Jamie. She is your typical tomboy, but she has another side as well. That side longs for a sweet movie romance. Her problem is how can she get that kind of romance if she is friends with boys? The answer is Milo. Who will be her tutor and who is her best friends brother. Another thing I loved about the story is that Milo had a cat!! If you want to read a cute YA romance, I recommend this book and the whole series too. Rating ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Spice 🌶

This book is the third story in the Shy Girls Sweet Romances series but this story is a standalone romance read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry. This is Jamie and Milo's story. They are very cute together.
