I think this has been my favorite volume because of the emotional roller coaster Mio was on when it came to matters of the heart.
Granted, it's been a very emotional journey in general thus far, but I think this volume really helped us to see into Mio's heart when it comes to her feelings for Yuri/Chika. Maybe that sounds "shallow" compared to how inspiring previous volumes have been in Mio's fight to bring justice for the unhumans, but there was something personal about this volume I think? We see her feelings of friendship and how her feelings have grown for Yuri/Chika into something so much more, as well as how she has to deal with the "fallout" of when her feelings are in the open.
Plus, this volume is the moment we've been waiting for! I won't expand on that because it would be spoilers, but my heart hurt so much for Mio. Finding out the truth was hard and really unsure of what's going to happen next, though the preview of the next volume leads me to believe that there is going to be even more heartache in Mio's future. *sobs* However, she has continuously fought for those she cares for, and I know that will continue!
When it comes to the world building, the new country Mio and the gang visited has been my ultimate favorite place! I loved it so much and definitely wish I could visit there!
Lastly, when it comes to favorite characters, I LOVE Mio, but I have really really loved seeing Prince Daibu grow as a character! He has been so fun and really liked that short story about him! Definitely excited he has joined the ever-growing entourage!
Definitely another wonderful volume! I can't wait to read the next one!
Super cute and Its nice to see Yuri and Mios relationship bloom with some thorns.... I might see a tiny live triangle forming with July too but it's a fairly entertaining series so far

This is just an excellent volume. It handles the Prince Chika reveal excellently with Mio having to deal with her love for Yuri against Chika creating a nice emotional tornness in her. The reveal that Yuri was originally raised as an orphan allowing him to want political change for his country that is slowly going the way of Mio's country is great too. Mio has some moments with her father showing her emotional maturity and heart as well which was great. Genuinely peak volume.

Mio, Yuri, July, and Prince Daibu finish up their business in Totodoto with the unhumans and how they were previously treated by the royal family. Mio decides they need to get to Aquatia quickly because her engagement announcement to Prince Chaka is only three months away. Yuri leads them through another adjoining kingdom that is mostly closed off from other kingdoms because it will be faster, but the rest of the party fears it will be more dangerous. Once in Aquatia, Mio learns more about Yuri’s past and he reveals some of the reason why he cannot return her feelings of affection.
This volume feels like a sprint to the end compared to the pace of some of the previous volumes. We cover quite a lot of narrative ground in a very short amount of time, and certain pieces are not given time to marinate before the characters have moved on to the next piece. In the beginning of this volume, We move through an entire kingdom in the span of a few panels where we had a few volumes dedicated to other kingdoms. This, unfortunately, happens towards the end of a manga series either due to the series being cancelled or to the mangaka's failing health, so I hope that the latter is not the case here. Regardless of the pacing issues, I am relieved to finally have some answers for Yuri’s past and to see what has been driving him for this entire series.
So... Mio loves Yuri but is engaged to Prince Chika. Yuri is Prince Chika but outright refused Mio's confession of love and didn't tell her the truth because... reasons I won't spoil.
All I'm going to say is Mio's dad is awful. He doesn't deserve her. And even Aquatia is hiding secrets about its royal family. But... I'm not sure why this isn't an easy fix.
