Not as good as book one but it still hung in there. Maybe a little more reaches on procedure when you write the latter book's. The story lines was good but it just got a little boring along the way.
It really seemed like Faith and Michael stumbled around this one until the end. Sure they were trying, but what they were investigating never really made much sense. I was going to end the series with this book, but I do find myself intrigued a bit with the connection Faith found at the end. I'll check out the next one, but if things don't pick up, that will be it for me.
Another serial killer mystery with the PTSD afflicted pair of Faith and her dog, Turk.
This time, the killer is leaving bodies in peoples' back yards. I was reminded of the book The Swimmer, but I don't think this was intentional by the author.
Ok, I only read several pages, but that was too much. I’ve read this authour plenty of times before and they have been very well crafted and were clean, so this book was a bit of a surprise.
Another great mystery from Blake Pierce. I absoutely loved Turk the dog in this one.

I enjoy the stories in these books and the banter among the two lead characters, though the writing seems a bit simplistic. The energy and characters of the suspense keep you turning pages until the real killer is found!
Not a lot to like about this story. Faith, the female FBI special agent was damaged by a near death experience, but acted like wonderwoman when facing the most dangerous situations. Foolish and too butch for my taste. Her partner was weak and a follower. The dog seemed to communicate at just the right time by snorting. The plot was juvenile and amateurish.
So Cold is book two in Blake Pierce's Faith Bold series. After the trauma she received in the last case, FBI Special Agent Faith Bold never thought she would get back to working at the job she enjoyed. Faith was wrong; with the support of her K9 dog Turk, she caught a case of the murder of two people in a security community. However, she wanted to be part of the investigation into the latest serial killer. Will FBI Special Agent Faith Bold get her wish, or will she continue with the investigation she was given? The readers of So Cold will continue to follow FBI Special Agent Faith Bold's investigation to discover what happens.
So Cold is the first book I have read by Blake Pierce, and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed how Blake Pierce highlighted the critical role of dogs for law enforcement officers and the community. I also enjoyed Blake Pierce's writing style and how he created his characters with problems. I engaged with So Cold's characters and enjoyed how Blake Pierce portrayed them throughout the book. So Cold is well-written and researched by Blake Pierce. I like Blake Pierce's description of the settings of So Cold, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.
not that serial.murder is ever relevant, but it's the title of the book that throws me... temperature never presents as a factoid. and it's presumable that all murder is cold blooded, so I don't get the arrow on the cover or what it's supposed to pointing to. while the overall story is lukewarm enough to pass inspection, there is still enough profanity to make a conservative reader skip certain passages. no gratuitous sexuality, though. only inferentially. b.p. has numerous murder mysteries out there, so any fan could be sated by his stuff alone for a while. which is, I'm sure his hope...
FBI Special Agent Faith Bold is Blake Pierce's impulsive, flawed heroine in So Cold. She's reliant on her dog, Turk, an official K9 Agent, (who's saved her life more than once) and Special Agent Michael Prince, her partner in their latest murder-mystery, at the exclusive Cedar Hills complex. A continuous phrase loops through Faith's nightmares, denying her rest, until she finally confronts the killer, at great personal risk, and resolves the puzzle that will hopefully put the case - and her mind - to rest...or will it?
Those words, “this isn’t the way things are meant to be” kept ringing in her ears! But what did it mean? It had to have something to do with the manicured lawns and seemingly perfect neighborhoods. But if these neighborhoods were as perfect as they appeared to be, why were bodies showing up in the seemingly perfect neighborhood? A garden won’t grow if it’s infested with weeds, so let’s just get rid of the weeds so the garden can grow and then it’ll be the way it’s supposed to be!
So Cold is a wonderfully written FBI crime thriller by Blake Pierce. I've read a number of his books and they are always exciting. When victims of a new serial killer are found in backyards, the FBI knows they will need the assistance FBI Special Agent Faith Bold. Once a highly trained and skilled profiler, she's on the verge of retiring due to a serial killer getting away and she felt responsible. With the help of her partner and ex-lover, Michael, and her K9 companion Turk, she's starting to realize she has the confidence and power to catch a serial killer.
Cedar Hills gated community should be where one could live almost in paradise, but things turned out to be the opposite as bodies started to turn up buried in residents' gardens. Faith and Michael are doing everything they can (and think) to find the culprit but after many wrong leads and being reprimanded by the Boss, Faith finally has an insight that might lead to the assassin. So Cold is a very entertaining story, with lots of action, and a good plot!
This series has quickly become a favorite of mine. The characters are so realistic, the story so engaging and the writing so good, it's one of those books that are hard to put down. Although this book refers to things that happened previously in the characters' story, it is written in a way that the reader does not have to have read the previous books to know what is going on. This is only book #2 and I've already downloaded book #3. Can't wait!
FBI agent, Faith Bold, was still having nightmares from her last case. The Boss decided to assign her a case she considered below her ability. This case was not an easy one to solve. The plot was good. The characters likable. I would read another book by this author.
Looking at how many books are written by this author I do wonder if they'll become repetitive over time. So far I am enjoying these books and will keep on reading them.
I didn't get a chance to review that series. FBI Bolt is a kickass woman with cool dog that takes down serial killers. The way she thinks is absolutely wonderful writing. If you haven't read this series and you are into a very well written mystery don't miss these.
I’ve read other novels by Blake Pierce and have enjoyed them. The plot was intriguing and including a character from a K-9 unit added to the crime genre.
When you like a perfect home, your landscaping must also be perfect. For this killer that meant the entire neighborhood. Faith Bold, an FBI agent, had her hands full figuring out who was killing all the people in this so-called perfect neighborhood.
I could not put the book down. Although you know who the killer is early on in the book, the story keeps you absorbed until the end. There are no clues and many false leads.
I have not read book 1, but got some ideas about what took place. FBI agents, Bold and Michael take on a case their Boss wanted them to find the killer. Page turner, good characters, main character being Agent Bold. She is good and also her side kick, Tuck,
Very well written. Holds your attention from the first sentence to the last period! Really appreciate this writer. Looking forward to all future books!
I liked the storyline and thought it was a very unique storyline but got a little bored at times. The ending definitely left a question hanging out there.
