Ida and Anders are reeling from the events of last winter. And if a hero is going to put their world back together, well…it won’t be Ivan.
Loyalties will be tested, and new bonds forged in this urban fantasy adventure.
In the concluding book of this trilogy, the friends will find out how far they’ll go to save their world and each other. And whether the price is worth it...
This fast-paced YA urban fantasy is perfect for fans of Holly Black, Neil Gaiman, and Stranger Things.
For our final showdown in the Shadow Kingdom, the action moves across the pond to New York. But Ivan is in a magically-induced coma, Amelie is ready to move on and pursue her career, and most of the Knights - as well as the rest of London - seem to have completely forgotten who they were before Christmas. The plot faltered a bit in this final book of the series. There were some amusing bits that made me wonder if the author had ever been to America : one cook puts "taco batter" on the grill, but still manages to make a taco large enough that a single one will sustain Anders. ;) But Kuttner brings it in for a landing effectively enough. The characters are reconciled, the world doesn't end... everything is good. All in all, a serviceable series with decent production values and imagination, but not perhaps a terribly memorable one. Worth a read when your book list is low, but not 5 star stuff.
First book was good, with genuine tensions, likeable characters, a good pace and satisfying conclusion. Second book, those traits were very good, very satisfying, etc. This third had the same qualities, and the writing seemed more sure-footed. The action sequences were almost cinematic, making me hope someone makes a movie or graphic novel of this.
This was the third and final book in the Shadow Kingdom Series. Once again it had a fast adventurous tight storyline. It also had all of the same great characters from the earlier two books and some new ones to add as well. I was sad to reach the end of this book and say farewell to them.
Great world-building, and characters who all grow on you. Well-written suspense and not predictable at all. This is the 3rd book (and final one). Somehow the sequence is listed incorrectly, so I read the 2nd book 1st, then the 1stbook, then the 3rd book (this one) which is listed as the 2nd book
These books are fun, fast paced, and engaging. They draw you into their world quickly and you don't want to leave until they're done. Even at the end you're a little sad to go, and wish to have a raven settle on your shoulder or a wolf pad up to you and nose your hand.
Nice series. Likeable characters, nice variety of character arcs. Somewhat ‘Harry Potterish’ in that the main character keeps having to save the world while his buddies end up as sidekicks. Easy read with a fresh take on fantasy tropes. Overall an excellent set if books
This set of two books were fantastic with well developed characters, fun fantasy, and interesting plot twists. I recommend this to those who enjoy playing DND.
