Carter
My life changes in an instant when I find myself attracted to a human.
I can read her thoughts.
I can smell her fears.
And I can tell when she’s in danger.

My wolf craves her, and my human side wants her but she's forbidden.

I can’t have her.
She isn’t my mate.

I know I can never fall in love outside of the pack, especially with a human.
As Beta for The Dark Blood Pack, they come first.
But does fate have other plans?

Leandra
When your heart breaks you tell yourself that no one will ever be allowed inside again.
I promised myself that.
But then someone comes along and changes it all and suddenly my heart goes to war with my head.

Eventually, my heart won and I fell for him.
Only for him to choose his mate.

So I do the only thing I can.
I leave.

But when I do, I’m taking a tiny part of him with me...

H and h meet, greet, lust, fall into bed and engage in a relationship.

TWIST - H is a werewolf and somewhere out there he has a fated mate. h is told of this but H has reassured the h that she is it for him.

Rejected mate = H is head over heels for the h, but then his fated mate shows up. h begs the H to choose her, H says he needs time. h is gutted that H did not choose her. h leaves and disappears for years. H and his fated mate agree that they are not really right for each other and reject each other.

OW drama = H's secretary sets it up that when h calls, h will see the OW having sex with the H on FaceTime call. This crushes the h so much that she shuts down any hope of reconciliation with the H. In reality, the H was passed out drunk, OW stripped down, jumped into H's lap and simulated sex all to hurt the h. The fated mate was never cruel or mean to the h, so she never really caused any drama knowingly.

h sees H with OW = see above for interaction h saw with the secretary. h also had to see an intimate scene between H and his fated several times. 1st - she had to see the H and fated, foreheads pressed together, eyes closed and just breathing each other in. 2nd - H and fated had decided they would reject each other, after the rejection they hug and H kisses fated on the cheek. h's viewpoint showed the kiss as more than what it was from her angle along with the embrace. H also had a look of utter love and devotion on his face that broke the h's heart as he was looking at his fated in such a way. In reality, H was so relieved that he was finally able to move on from his fated and would now be able to concentrate on his real true love, the h and that was the look, his looking forward to knowing he was free to be with the h unrestricted.

F-preg = hidden pregnancy, but she DID try several times to let H know. 1st time - she was on her way to tell H when she witnessed the above described scene between the H and his fated right after their rejection. Optics made it look like H was content, settled and in love so h decided she could not interrupt their bond and leaves. 2nd time - she feels her baby kick and takes it as a sign from the universe that she must try again to let H know about the pregnancy. See above phone call/FaceTime that h had to witness with H and OW. For the h, that was it. No more attempts to include the H. In her mind, not only did the H have a fated mate he choose over the h, now he was cheating on said mate with OW. h thoughts were H did not need to be a part of her and her child's life.

So how did we get HEA? h comes back into town and just so happens to run into H at airport. They meet up later, talk it out, work it out and get back together.

Grovel? Really I do not think anyone once they can communicate effectively needed to grovel. h needed to understand the H's wolf and how that impacted him. Similar to basically the h being culturally ignorant of werewolf culture and trying to make H conform the human expectations. That is not fair and she needed to have given him more grace and understanding. H on his side, needed to communicate more about his feelings and needs as a werewolf (that was so weird to type). So really both sides had some culpability and I did not see a need for grovel.

As to missing out on his kid? Could the H really blame the h after she did make repeated attempts? With the way those attempts panned out, who could blame her?? So again, I did not think grovel was needed.

Good book, but throwing in there the werewolf part was very late in the game for the book and almost like a plot twist to cause drama and not really a part of the world building of the story.

7.14 oop this got a bit more traction than I was expecting so I guess I will elaborate a bit more so my review is more fair

aside from the hero being a zero, the writing wasn't that great. the premise had SO much potential but there were serious errors and needed another round of not only copy but developmental editing. continuity was not consistent (someone would be in a scene and then they'd 'show up' as if there weren't already there, transitions and cuts were choppy, one scene where isabella was traveling WITH leandra and then when they arrive Isabella is like 'oh you're here' like did you not arrive together?)

I wonder if this was released on a platform one chapter at a time before it was pieced together?

there was no resolution with Candace (his assistant who is trying to steal him), who got her own whole ass POV. no confrontation, was she fired when she was found out? what was she up to the years he and leandra were apart?

the shifter world was not explored at all and you don't know much about it. only one shift in the whole book then at the very end it's just a few pages of straight exposition and dialogue to tell us how he can read her mind.

this reads more like a contemporary/corporate romance and they just happen to also be shifters rather than than a paranormal/shifter romance

the baby was just an accessory, she barely thinks about him or checks on him once carter enters the picture. she wakes up and showers and does a whole routine without even checking on the toddler, there's never even a mention of a baby monitor. there's no scenes of carter getting to know his son.

the only good thing about the book is leandra - which wasn't even all that great - however, the minute carter started having second thoughts and going back on her word she was like "nope I'm out" and crushed it while they were apart, opening up a third location for her law firm, being a working mom and not needing carter for shit especially money.

7.13
not gonna waste too much time elaborating.

carter's not even worth a piece of dog shit.

swore up and down and begged leandra to listen to him and promised he would choose leandra over his mate only for her to show up & he can't even stand on business. instead he asks leandra for some time to "figure things out" with his mate

don't care that nothing happened with them
don't care that they eventually rejected each other

he still needed to explore the option and blamed it on his wolf
the kicker here is that the mate didn't even care to spend time with him, it felt like sienna (mate) had less feelings for him than he did for her. she basically says she thought it'd feel like fireworks but she was unimpressed (oh she's also a lesbian) while he's all like omg it was like magnets, we couldn't stay away from each other

fuck him. what would've been romantic was his feelings being stronger than the mate bond. that's undying love.

It took a little to get into. Common misunderstandings and tortured past. I liked the back and forth narration from both perspectives to see what the other MC is thinking. It hit a little close to home which made it more than an erotic romance. The emotion tied to the female MC past and doubt speaks to me. Would read again

I am a sucker for surprise baby troupe, but god this book sucked. There was NO story only s*x, pain, and miscommunication. I liked Carter to a point but not her. Gosh, she was needy.
If I had known it was all s*x with no story, I would have been more prepared, but none of the reviews said this. Not to say people won't enjoy this book, I just like a story to go with my book.

DNF - this was so poorly written and cheesy! She is on a private jet heading to Australia to be artificially inseminated and meet an architect that will design her law firm. The Jet is owned by the architect firm. The only other person on this private jet is Carter who says he’s an architect and she doesn’t put two and two together. 🙄 they sleep together and surprise she’s a virgin! 🙄🙄 the story bounces all over and they skirt around eachother for weeks. That’s where I ended it.

I really enjoyed this shifter novel!

The instant attraction between the MCs is what really drew me in to this book, from the get go there was tons of tension between Carter and Leandra. I loved how sassy the fmc was, she was such a fun character that knew what she wanted.

There was definitely an interesting and unique plot line in this book, I loved the mystery of why can Carter feel all these things/hear her thoughts when he’s sure she’s not his mate.

Lots of amazing tropes in this book such as V heroine, shifters and age gap. Also lots of well written steamy in this, you will deffo need a cup of water to wash down the thirst you’re going to encounter while reading!

If you’re looking for a new pnr read that will have you hooked well look no further!

This was my first pnr romance and won’t be my last. There was an element of mystery to the way Carter instantly felt and could hear her thoughts when he shouldn’t have been able to. Even though Leandra had a ton of emotional baggage she was fun & feisty. This story was fun, steamy, dramatic and spicy.

everything in one

This book checks many boxes. New love, shifter, miscommunication, lost love, pregnancy, growth., and finally reconciliation. With all of that is the spice I crave. Very well written you fall in love with Carter and Lesandra.

Soooo much spice, I recommend having an extra set of panties beside you because goodness. The story line itself is amazing. Carter, a shifter, stumbles upon a normal human woman;however, he is absolutely starstruck by her. He can’t stop thinking about her, and Leandra can’t stop thinking about this hunk of a man that seems to be reading her most insecure thoughts.

Highly recommend.

Thank you to the author for the ARC of this novel and giving me the opportunity to read before it was released!

2.5 ⭐️

I really wanted to like this book! There were some random time hops that really didn’t make much sense to me, and the wolf detail seemed odd. There wasn’t much explanation for that, other than that’s why he could read minds. I feel like if that detail is part of a story, there needs to be more plot-wise.

I also found it odd that the FMC’s first time was on an airplane, like she all of a sudden decided screw my plans, I’m gonna screw this guy that I don’t know instead lol. Just some details in this book didn’t make sense to me.

Overall it was an interesting idea that could have been executed better imo. Spicy scenes were done well.

2.5 ⭐️😔

I really thought this was going to be great. I loved the first few chapters and the ideas were all there but then nothing really happened for a good 50% of the book.
There were too many random time hops, other than one super quick shift we never saw a wolf, and I felt it odd that they never shared a bed which given her history should have raised some red flags or warranted an actual discussion.
I think this may be a formatting error but in one scene he is in the car after she had thrown him out and the next they’re in each other’s arms?
I really wanted to find out why he could hear her thoughts and it’s the only reason I finished the book.

Let me preface my 3 stars by saying I read the book start to finish in a 24hr span. It held my attention and made me want to keep reading. However, the spice was extremely repetitive and frequent. If the two main characters were in the scene there was spice. I found myself skimming over those parts because it was so repetitive. I also found the flow to be off for me. There were times where the scene would abruptly be over and in the next sentence we are somewhere completely different.

Overall, the concept was there. It was entertaining enough.

3.5⭐️

This isn’t my first werewolf book but it was surprisingly not as cheesy or all about breeding like other books. The FMC was sassy and knew what she wanted. The MMC description was perfect and His love for her didn’t waver. They book had moments where time jumped or things just kind of left off and started somewhere new including a new time. I don’t want to spoil anything but how her very dark time of depression was not just skipped over in the conversation but expressed in a way that highlighted the importance of getting help and working on yourself so you can be the best version of you possible really struck home to me. In the end I was left loving their story and how things ended. I know they are fictional but after reading I was happy for the life to come and what the future holds.

This was my first paranormal romance book and the first book that I've read by this author, and won't be the last.
I loved this book and the bond that Carter and Leandra had together, be prepared for tears as this book is not only spicy and one you'll struggle to put down but also a tear jerker at times.
The book ends on a hea but the road to that ending is hard and messy

I’m calling it. I tried. Soo hard. This book sucks. I’m dnfing it. Life’s too short to read shitty books

I’ve read wattpad books better than this.

Also, so much sex. Some might even say too much.

Also, no need to have italicized flashbacks of the past, when the past was a chapter that we’ve already read.

Anyways, I skimmed most of it and gave up at 84%

This is Leandra and carters story. Leandra is a human living in a world that shifters aren’t public knowledge. Carter and Leandra fall in love after Carter peruses her and after they fall in love, Carter tells her of his potential mate bond and how he’ll always chose her. Well surprise surprise, he stutters. Cause, men. Leandra leaves heartbroken and surprise, pregnant. Mia communication ensues as does some (just ok) grovel.

I really struggled with the fact that Carter instantly was kissing and loving on his wolf mate. It was so devastating to read and honestly felt really irredeemable even after reading the rest of the book. That paired with the question Leandra posed to cater of what if you HAD felt a stronger bond, then what? And Carter has literally no response made it really feel like she was the second choice even with the fact that Carter realized how much worse the heartache from losing Leandra was vs breaking his wolf mating bond.

I did enjoy the plot twist of the fact that Carter is half human makes it so he has a wolf mate but a human soul mate that manifests differently and answers the why around why Carter even had “two” mates. But once again, I wish that the mate revelation had maybe been from carters POV where he feels it but is like, that’s it? And then it’s the mate pushing the kissing. This to me would have been such a better foreshadowing and made me hate Carter less cause honestly? Leandra deserved better.

I’m also really sad we didn’t get the confrontation with the secretary. I would have loved a scene where she was forced to reconcile with the fact that Carter lost 3 years of his son’s life because it just would have been so satisfying.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ but also this book could have been half the length because the first half of the book is exclusively smut that adds nothing to the experience. Also Leandra being a virgin and then instantly a sex goddess took me out of it. She did not need to be a virgin for the hang ups she has on relationships to still exist

The story had promise but lacked context.

We got the steam, we got the basics but no real context. At the beginning the fmc was at a wedding but then was in a private jet with no real background as to where she was going and why she was there.

She met Carter on the plane and they had an ‘interlude’. Then he was at the meeting and she finds out he is her architect to build her law firm……she’d been in contact with Liam but there was no background other than she was a lawyer. Repeated mentions at this point of the lunches and dinners they were having. No mention of work, what they were doing…there was literally nothing! I needed more details, the context gives us the narrative…the who, the how, the where, the when- other than the intimate scenes, descriptions and background were lacking. Like in chapter 13 we knew she’d flown to new York but then she was with her friend, again no context. What happened to her appointment? Then she was at her condo, phoned Carter and said she needed him, he said he was coming, then on the next page he wasn’t….then he turned up. Then we find out he has a New York office.

Page 138 it jumps to them arriving at a pack house….I forgot that he was even a wolf shifter then….it was the first real mention of his wolf. Before that he’d only mentioned about finding his mate and again no context!!! Where were they? where was the pack house? Who lived there?

Ashton was character that suddenly popped up from nowhere, he was there just as a business partner then she’s ringing him telling her that she needs him….it was only the second time he was mentioned.
The writing was all over the place and not cohesive at all.

Personally I’m not a huge fan of mentioning your own author name as a book in the book, it takes you out of the story.

Carter

I found this book on an add on tictok and I loved the premise of the story. The author is new to me and I'm so glad I read this book. Looking forward to reading more time this author. I like her take of a rejected mate story and how it played out. And allll the smex throughout the story which was freaking hot!! Did I mention all the smex was seriously hot!! 🔥🔥🔥

Girl meets boy, girl falls for boy and boy had a secret that could come between them. Lol
Leandra (Peaches) meets Carter on an national flight to Australia and they have instant chemistry. What Carter doesn't understand is that he can read her thoughts and finds that weird because she's human and not part of the pack. Carter knows that she can't be his because he still hasn't meet his mate yet.
But the chemistry is off the charts.
After a while Carter knows Peaches is the one for him and he's committed to her but he still has lots to explain about his other secret and mates. Then his mate finds him when they help another pack...
Things take off from there and it gets crazy with some OW drama and more lies. I have to say that I enjoyed the ending.
I'm looking forward to more from this author. Great read!

I didn't know what the book would be. But while reading it I loved that it wasn't overly werewolf and human. In most werewolf books there's a focus on the alpha and Luna or alpha and omega. It was nice to see more of a werewolf book but also get the human side as well. How they are interacting with humans and everything. I was unsure of this book going into it and wanted to just to see if I would like it. Especially since was in a reading funk. I just have to say that this book was everything that I wanted. Carter and Leandra were the perfect couple. Of course there were misunderstandings and everything but just to see their relationship blossom and they finding out what they are to each other was refreshing. I have to say that it was a very good book to jump into. I loved the writing style and everything.

This is a new author for me which I enjoyed reading from beginning to end. I look forward to seeing what is next for her. I enjoyed her writing skills that pulled me into her story with ease. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. A story where fun and committment become more that was ever expected. What fate has instore for these two character you don't want to miss. I enjoyed watching their growth as well as their off the charts chemistry. They are connectable and I had no problems picturing myself in the story with them. This is a fast paced story that is engaging and easy to read. The characters add so much to the entertaining value of the story. This is a must read and I highly recommend this book.

Great book

A book about a girl who is going on a trip to Australia to start a new company and get artificially insemination on herself. When she meets a man who she connects with. She hlgives him her virginity and she leaves thinking she will never see hundreds again only to find out he is the architect for her buisness. They have a world wined romance but he is a shifter and he has a mate somewhere. So even though they have a connection he has to see if there's anything with his mate. She misunderstanding when she sees them close and she leaves without telling him she is pregnant. And he searches for her because he can't live without her. Only to come face to face with his son. Loved the story between Leandra and Carter. The spice 🌶️ is a 4 out 5. Carter is everything you want in a book boyfriend. He’s handsome, sexy, funny, smart, possessive and dirty. That mouth is dangerous in all the good ways and his tongue 🥵.

Leandra has a troubled past that does allow her to trust men and open her self to love. She’s smart and hardworking and I feel that the author did an amazing job showing her character grow by the end of the book. Leandra wasn’t the same Leandra we meet in cheaper 1.

Amazing read and cannot wait to read her dark romance next the Tattoo Artist.

Carter is definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

DNF at pg 85

There was so many plot holes in this book. Odd sentences and annoying dialog
I finally stopped reading when the author chose to make a cermercial for own book by make the main character go to a library and read, baking title and author.

Here is an example of bad sentences, not verbatum

Oh he is so hot in ONLY his trousers, and with no shirt on.

Isn't it implied if you are only wearing something, the other items are gone, no need to state the shirt is off.

This just wasn't for me
Someone needs to read this and close the plot holes and maybe a second edit is in order.

I didn't even make it to the twist where we know he find a different mate...

My god this book is awful! This book read as if it was written by someone with a 5th grade level writing comprehension. It's clear the author does not know how set up a storyline, plot, character build or anything else. But if you're looking for a book that that has come kind "spice" on every few pages then this book is for you but that's all this "book" has going for it. And I have never read any kind of book/story where the author puts themselves into the writing like they did by putting their own name it as the FMC was reading. The kindle version was only $4.99 but I want a refund of how horrible this book was.
