After the deadly events of the film Aliens, the spaceship Sulaco carrying the sleeping bodies of Ripley, Hicks, Newt, and Bishop is intercepted by the Union of Progressive Peoples. What the UPP forces don't expect is another deadly passenger that is about to unleash chaos between two governmental titans intent on developing the ultimate Cold War weapon of mass destruction.
William Ford Gibson is an American-Canadian writer who has been called the father of the cyberpunk subgenre of science fiction, having coined the term cyberspace in 1982 and popularized it in his first novel, Neuromancer (1984), which has sold more than 6.5 million copies worldwide.
While his early writing took the form of short stories, Gibson has since written nine critically acclaimed novels (one in collaboration), contributed articles to several major publications, and has collaborated extensively with performance artists, filmmakers and musicians. His thought has been cited as an influence on science fiction authors, academia, cyberculture, and technology.
"Alien 3" script by William Gibson and illustrated by Christmas and Bonvillian. Gibson's version of the Alien-verse has Bishop, Ripley in a comatose state, Newt and Hicks but is different from Canon of the Alien films. The other characters in this script are just as corporate-slimy or working Joes who are there to do their jobs. The Alien DNA is featured as being the assimilator of the host DNA that can bypass the Egg/Facehugger stage. This is a very different take on the Alien and most resembles the older horror/science fiction film of John Carpenter's "The Thing", based assimilation of the host DNA. I enjoyed the Gibson version that has workman art by Christmas and Bonvillian. Well worth reading to see how Alien 3 might have turned out as a film!
Lovely cover art is followed by strong lines and colour, the story is something I am already familiar with after reading the script. I enjoyed the familiar settings and portrayal of technology in this comic, there's a nice balance of new and old characters mentioned. If I had read this as a single issue I may find it lacking, luckily I waited until the entire series was released. So on to the next issue I go.
Everyone wanted it to continue after Aliens, the marines were such a strong plot vehicle. The world building was strong an industrial blue collar future where the average joe was just trying to get paid. Adding the hot shot marines just moved it on with pace and gusto. It’s all here in this comic book. Maybe the 3rd instalment should have been something like this?
Oh gee, an issue of a comic where a character crash lands on some kind of mysterious planet, and shenanigans ensue. Never seen that done before.
Also, that face hugger egg was placed right on top of that guy's dick... can we talk about that? Did it form there while he was alive, or was he dead before that happened? And if it's the former, do you think he felt the face hugger developing all around his dick, and....... yeah, you know what, I don't like this conversation anymore.
Issue #1

Not much a fan of the simplistic art style when held next to Fire&Stone Dust to Dust and Defiance... However if you have a knowledge of the original idea for the Alien 3 sequel this will be an exciting experience. This is a great read either for fans of the Alien saga, people who head cannoned out David Finchers Alien 3 or comic fans in general.
Three At Last, Three At Last. Thank God A Mighty, Three At Last!
Seriously, since th first rumors decades ago that B Gibson was working on 3 i have wanted to see/read it. So far just read part 1 and it's quite good. But is i kind of wish he had just done a novelization Rather than a 5-comic series.
An adaptation of William Gibson's script for Alien 3. The first issue sets the story up rather nicely with lots of characters being introduced; a couple of them from the company which is still up to no good. Can't wait to see what is going to happen next
In space, no one can hear Fox kill the franchise...
This is quite simply one of the versions of Alien:3 that should have made it to the big screen. Really should be required reading for any fan of the creature.
So much better than the horrible film they actually made.
Cannot wait to read the remaining 4 chapters. This is based on the William Gibson script which I cannot imagine not using the author of the incredible Necromancers script.
Surprised. I didn't read the original Gibson's script. I'm discovering a real better story, and the last page is one of those things I really expected on that third movie.
Very good, an interesting read and totally different to the Alien 3 we got from David Fincher.
Ripley's in a coma, Hicks, Bishop are the main players. Set on a space station where scientists are trying to weaponise a new breed of xenomorph that can release an airborne virus, naturally all hell breaks loose, as everyone on board fights for survival.
I think this would have been a good movie, i think this is the sequel everyone would have wanted, although I do have a soft spot for Alien 3, think it's quite good.
