Only a few years ago, I was a mage in a world filled with magic and supernatural creatures. Now, I'm in a world where science has made people into superpowered titans. As the only mage in this world, I'm using my talismans and spells to even the odds.
Working as a private investigator, I'm hunting down leads on what landed me among the supers. But I'm not the only supernatural creature who showed up here, and it's a problem that's about to get out of hand.
Science vs. Magic. It's a battle that's bound to turn this world upside down.
It's a good thing I have a brilliantly minded blonde lawyer and a feisty superpowered heroine on my side.
I've come to understand this author cannot do anything but write weak man characters. I have tried several books by this author at this point and everyone of his main characters Are weak. They are supposed to be powerful and confident and self assured, but you put them in front of a female with breasts.... And they lose their spine and the women walk all over them and tell them what to do. These are supposed to be male fantasy books. That means the females don't say no to the males when they're telling them to do something they don't act aggressive they don't get uppity but instead....they do what they're told to do....period...... I am really done with this author because he just cannot write a proper male fantasy book in my opinion.
I had to put it down, as the writing style wasn’t for me. The problem is that the author decided to go with a mentally handicapped mc, and that just doesn’t do it for me, but others will probably like it, and that’s fine. You know the trope in the genre that has the mc gain skill points or some valuable loot, and they decide the best thing to do is to ignore it right after explaining how amazing it is? That’s in here, and really early on, too. So here I am, on the hunt again for the mythical mc that is smart and down to earth.
Almost 2/3 of the book was the MC thinking about how/why mysteriously got to sup-world then near the end he does a complete plot inconsisten where he actually knew how he got there and why.
A mage living and working in a world of super-powered individuals. What could possibly go wrong... Well it seems a whole damn lot, as well as meeting a lovely group of super-powered women. Sounds like a fun time for all. Well written can't wait for the next one.
I enjoyed this new world and it wax interesting to see a magic user stuck in world that used science to create Supers. Liked the Mc and nice action. The only drawback was haw fast the relationships formed. Looking forward to the next book.
Another unique, fun new story!!! It should be no surprise to anyone who has read this author that this is a real fun story to read!!! Fantastic fun characters, great action and great world building all rolled up in an amazing story!!!
3.5 stars. Writing is competent and the story is ok, but nothing outstanding. The women are ridiculously quick to throw themselves at the MC, even by the standards of this sort of book. Overall not enough to get me invested in more, but YMMV.
A solid and somewhat unconventional story in the superhero trope. Liked the characters and storyline and while there was erotic scenes it was quick so as not to take away from the general sorry. Interested to see where it goes. 3.5/4 stars
But I should know better. King's work is the b-action flicks of books, quick and dirty with little substance. Every so often I try one, so far I am still disappointed.
It was a very enjoyable read that I'm looking forward to seeing how it grows from here, new talismans and elements, growth in relationships and the world! Can't wait!
