Brotherly Enemies
Lyon was about to get married, everyone waiting for the process to begin, including Lyon. Where the heck was Dan his best man, his best friend ever since kindergarten. After nearly an hour Dan still hasn’t arrived, then he calls Lyon.
“Sorry Lyon, I can’t make it, I won’t be there”.
‘I’ll wait and Lindsay is waiting down stairs,’
“No she’s not, she’s here with me and we got married yesterday in Las Vegas”.
With a friend like Dan you don’t need enemies, he’s right there, stabbing you in the back.
What a nasty bustard Dan is, as a friend and, as it turns out, a horrible brother too. He so deserves the cold hearted business woman, Lindsay who jilted Lyon.
Lyon and Dan grew up together, with both their siblings, Scott is Lyon’s younger brother and Miles is Dan’s younger brother. The older guys always looked out for their siblings.
Dan however took it to extremes and interferes too much in Miles life, even so far as forbidding him the freedom to date. Miles has always been ‘out’ as a gay man. Dan had warned Lyon (who is bi) as teenagers that Miles was out of bounds to him. Lyon abided by that, though he did find Miles kinda cute and interesting.
When Lyon calmed down after the wedding debacle his fury at Dan was boundless. He hatched a plan of revenge and he knew exactly what would hurt Dan the most.
He puts his plan into action immediately.
*************
No doubt about it Lyon and Scott has had a harsh childhood, both parents divorcing and remarrying several times over, never at home, left with Nannies.
This has affected his attitude to relationships and letting people get close to him. Parents leaves him, he feels unworthy of love.
Initially I wasn’t too fond of Lyon but he grew on me when he started to lower his guard. Dan, I’d have buried in a deep nest of deadly snakes. Miles was the shining star of this story and his adorable Uncle Harry.
It took me a while to ‘invest’ myself in this story due to disliking Dan, Lindsay and, Lyon initially. But about 20% in I started to enjoy it and I’m glad I persevered because I did enjoy watching Lyon’s plan unfold and his letting down his defences.
I’ve read several of Felice’s stories now and I’ve enjoyed them so much and would recommend her stories, which have been low to non angsty, with HEA.
