It starts with a midnight kiss that sparks a compulsion neither Casimir nor Artemis can escape….
Casimir’s life revolves around three his family, his friends, and his gym. Ever the playboy, love is the furthest thing from his mind until a chance encounter with a beautiful woman results in life-altering consequences.
Fresh from a toxic entanglement, Artemis wants nothing more than to quietly nurse her broken heart and focus on her career. But when a girl’s night out ends with an impulsive kiss, she learns just how addictive love can be…. especially, with Casimir White.

You know a story is amazing when you laugh, scream at folks, cry, cheer and laugh again. I did all of those things during this tale. The friends were like real people you would love to have as your very own friends. Those guys and gals rode for one another like Bonnie and Clyde. Sometimes they acted like Tom and a Jerry, but you get my point. I don't usually condone bad behavior, but their behavior was hilarious most of the time. And when folks challenged their gangsta, the lessons were written in stone. The way the author delivered this message, even the tough parts were palpable. I adored this story.
4.5 ⭐️ If you know me, you know that I often read books in a series out of order. A few of characters from the Brighton Heights series who I hadn't met made an appearance. So I’m definitely gonna read those.
This was a slow burn between Casimir and Artemis. On New Year's, the two share a kiss. Something life-changing occurs to Casimir, and he starts to wonder whether he's living his love life correctly. Casimir's struggle with change was fascinating to read, but he ultimately overcame. I thought it was sweet how they went from being friends to lovers; they clearly had chemistry and its authenticity shone through as they became official. Casimir did not play about Temi it was on sight for anyone. Not only did I like the pair, but I also enjoyed their group of friends.
Idc idc Bella Jay can't have Casimir all to herself. I'm late to the party, but I'm HERE!!!!! This book was PHENOMENAL!!! Full stop. Every single character was an integral part of the story and written so well I could see them. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I hollered and more. This story was written to perfection. And I highly recommend it. I read the trigger warning and knew I needed to tread lightly, and I did, but I still had a good cry before all was said and done. The sensitive topic was handled so well and gently that it helped to serve as more healing than trigger. Job well done. I loved everything about this. So happy to have read it.
com·pul·sive Adjective 1. resulting from or relating to an irresistible urge, especially one that is against one's conscious wishes.
It all started with a New Year’s kiss that Sparks, a compulsion, that Artemis and Casimir can’t seem to shake. Casimir White life revolves around three things, his family, his business, and his friends, known for being a notorious ladies man. The furthest thing from his mind is settling down with just one woman, I mean he’s young, fine and successful what else could he want?
Artemis Hudson is fresh out of a relationship from hell. Happy that she can put her ex in her rear view all she wants to do is focus on healing her broken heart and on her career. But when a girls night out ends with an impulsive kiss, she will learn just how irresistible Casimir White really is.
This was another banger from Skye!!
I couldn’t wait to read Cas's story, the way he loves and protects his sisters; I just knew once he found his woman, he would love her DOWN!! And that what that man did, y’all hear me.
Cas was having a hard time accepting that it was time for him to hang up his player card, witnessing his internal battle was one of the aspects of the book that I truly enjoyed, he didn’t just struggle for one or two chapters, and then magically decide he was ready for love, his struggle felt real. And his honesty with Artemis about his struggles I appreciated so much.
While Cas and Artemis keep you hooked from page one, I would do a disservice if I didn’t mention the cast and crew because baby they had me dying laughing. I will just say this… Dylan is definitely losing the bet. 😂
Oh and if Cas being a honest protective king wasn’t enough my man can SING too!!! Lord give me strength… yea y’all need to go read this one!
I have been waiting patiently for this book!! Cas has become one of my favorite characters! The way the author draws you like your right there! The way Cas went from the playboy to finding his one was written beautifully make sure to read all the books prior to this story! I love Cas and Temi and didn’t want the story to end ! Now back to re-reading some of the book again!!
Compulsive is well written; tugged at my heartstrings and kept me wanting more. I loved Temi and Casimir together. This was sort of a slow burn, so it took longer for the characters to cross the line but it was clearly written in the stars for these two to happen. I also really liked the friend group and the friendly banter between everyone. Cas was so protective of Temi and I definitely can appreciate that.
Let's start out with the facts, as stated within the book, Cas is minessssss. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Cas and Temi were exactly what each other needed when they needed it. I loved how patient he was with her and how his past didn't really interfere with the type of man he could be. Temi's ex and all his nonsense could go to hell. I love the friends in this group and looking forward to seeing more from them! Highly recommend y'all reading my man's book.
This was such a great story! I love when the couple are true homies first and you see their natural progression to lovers. It was a slow burn for sure but it was needed. I appreciated Cas’ struggles in trying to reconcile his past behaviors and wanting to be a better person. Once he was able to get out of his way though it was up for him and Temi. I love the safety and security that he provided for her and the way he played a monumental role in her healing from something tough. My favorite part of the story is also just the banter. So much fun banter. And I love the friend groups and all of their interactions as well!
Also any man that’s going to beat up your ex on sight with no conversation is ok with me🤣
I am so glad this author resumed her pen game because her comeback...whew...fierce! I am glad Casimir got his story and oh my...talk about character development at its finest. Chef's kiss on the pairing of Cas and Temi. The slow burn worked for me because both Temi and Cas needed both their healing and evolution in order to grow into a healthy relationship. This author had me laughing and also ready to fight...perfect range of emotions. Absolutely enjoyed this read. Well done
This was definitely a slowburn and I’m here for it. To see Casimir’s internal battle over letting go of his player ways and becoming a one woman man was interesting and I liked that it wasn’t a one chapter thing—then boom he and Temi are together. His battle felt real and was flowed nicely. I liked Temi for him because I feel that she provided the balanced that he needed, while still battling her own demons. Their friends and families provided the comedic relief needed because it could get pretty tense. Hopefully, we’ll get more of from the side characters one day.
I really enjoyed this story. I love how Temi and Casimir developed a friendship before they started a relationship. They both had supportive friends and family. Cas is like every woman's dream.
This was a for sure a high 4 1/2 stars!!!! Now I believe that Bella Jay should look for some one else because Cas is definitely each of us bae…
I believe this was my first time reading this author and I was delighted and happy to have taken the plunge. This was very good except for the over abundance of sweetness going around and also didn’t truly like how Cas was portrayed, which was as a hound dog. He is so much more than that and the patience and wanting to have Moonchild comfortable in any intimacy was beyond perfect; and thennn his protector, attentiveness and availability to Temi was so on point. Now, I do feel as if I missed some huge part before jumping in on Cas’s story; like there was some people that needed to be read before jumping into Cas and Temi’s story. Unfortunately it looks like it’s too late; so my apologies MS. Moon, but I have been trying to remember to jump on the Moon bandwagon for a while and keep forgetting to slide, so when this synopsis came on, I was like “yes this is my chance”. I grabbed it without looking if there was another book prior to this one. That said, Temi was a sweetheart and such a good person, but Dylan and Zuri, wow: if y’all and I don’t got friends like these two, I do not want to be friends with anyone. They will become acquaintances instead. And the guys are as good including the parents and my other boo Aesir. Enough now because I am going to continue reading MS. Moon’s catalog…
OMG this book was everything!!! Artemis and Casimir’s love story and the way they met was so unconventional. Casimir was going through life dating women without commitment and had a very arrogant and conceited attitude towards finding love. His near death experience on New Year’s was an eye opener for him and caused him to reevaluate how he treated women. Artemis saved Casimir’s life after he was shot trying to protect her from being hit by gunfire, so she made it her mission to check on him while he was recovering which eventually turned into a beautiful friendship. Those two becoming friends and facing things from their past led them on a path to forever and the growth shown from them both was a joy to read. Of we can’t leave out their crazy crew of friends and Casimir’s sisters who had me screaming with laughter at some of their antics but they definitely had Artemis and Casimir’s back.. If you are looking for a great read this book is definitely one to download it is my first read by this author but definitely won’t be my last..
I liked Temi and Cas individually and together. He had such a soft side with her. Very understanding and patient. Loved all their friends and his siblings. Can wait for Nixon and Dylan’s story.
The way Temi and Casimir responded the first interaction we got in this story it was if they’ve never met before. But shortly thereafter we learn that they each know very close people in the other persons life so it’s hard for me to believe they didn’t at least know of each other.
I didn’t like Dani’s response to Anais showing up. Yeah she was dumb for going there after how he treated her but Dani was acting like Anais was the one dating multiple people or she caused a club brawl.
I didn’t mind Cas hemming Kway up the first time he ran into him and he was being disrespectful to Temi but to fight him every time he sees him is juvenile and truly for the streets, a quality I don’t like about him. That’s how people get killed. Barbara is a trash ass grandmother and mother. She needed someone to give her licks like Lewis gave to Lem
4.5/5⭐️3/5🥵 - This my favorite Skye moon book so far! Love me a good friends to lovers with a funny friend group and a little steam.
- Artemis or Temi lol is a nurse at Mercy West (ok greys anatomy) she is obviously very caring and nurturing. She loves astronomy and I loved how she was a nerd but not in a cringey way. I enjoyed her character so much yall. Casmair was a ladies man and he surely had me🤣. He owns a gym (love a business man) and hes a boxer mhm hmm. His humor was definitely my cup of tea and his personality was definitely giving BDE I was livingggg.
- This book ties in with another series that I didn't read but you don't have to bc I still enjoyed this book. Anyway the friendship and family relationships were sooooo good! I think thats a big reason I enjoyed it so much. I stayed up all night until I finished it was that serious!
Cas was a legit butt hole but in a fairness he was up front about where he stood on commitment. I loved how his friendship with Luna progressed organically and how both of them were caught off guard by the love that they shared. Kway and Lem were both trash and they both caught them hands! 😂😂😂 Pops and Cas made ur known that it's up behind Temi and they stood on business. I'm happy that Temi is able to release burdens that were not hers to carry in the first place. Grandma still needs her ass whipped though 😐 The supporting characters were the real MVP lol Zuri and Dylan didn't play and Nixon and Cory with the singing in the rain set up was hilarious and sweet. 10\10 recommend this book was fire
Loved this. I laughed so much and I was all for a** whooping. Temi and Casimir had me locked in and it just felt genuine and realistic how their relationship grew and was strengthened. Cas showed growth, self realization and change. Whilst Temi showed strength and was able express and defend herself. They not only grew individually and also as a couple. The ending had me dying with laughter and I was cheering them on 🤣🤣. After 2 runnings I think Kway got the picture though. Dylan and Zuri were my fav how they rode for Temi. Dyl and Nixon, now they also had me tune in with their foolishness 😆. Loved me some Cas and Luna
I love me some Casimir. He was cute from the beginning when he kissed Artemis at midnight on New Year’s. He was in awe and struck from the moment he met her and didn’t know how she had captured his feelings and made him want to be with one person. It was cute the Valentine’s dinner dying the roses green, the singing to her in the rain, the observatory and how they had an entire lunch to broach how he approach her intimately. And let us not forget that whipping he put on Kway, which was well deserved.
I loved this book. Casimir and Artemis started an unbreakable connection from a New Years Eve kiss and it was only up from there. I loved how they created a genuine friendship before deciding on a relationship. Cas showed so much growth and I loved that for him. Temi was a people pleaser but everyone has their breaking point and I’m so glad she was surrounded by people who had her back. I can’t wait to see what comes next from this series because these characters had my attention from the beginning.
Aretimis was just the nurse Cashmir needed in his life. I loved their story and it was so sweet and romantic. A sweet kiss in the middle of the dance floor led to way more than what either one of them expected. Aretimis was scared to let her guard down and didn't know Cashmir was who and what she needed, but it worked out in their favor. Cashmir first had to deal with the demons, i.e. ghosts of girlfriends past. Once he dealt with it, then he was able to fully pursue a proper relationship with Aretimis. Loved their story
This is my first time writing a review…. But this is also the first time I read a book that was so relatable, funny and the dialogue conversations held so much swagger. It made me want to be in their world and be apart of their friendships. And the dynamics and ease between Cas and Temi …..and then later the sex scenes …..chef’s kiss!!! I’m anxiously waiting for the next story in this series but until then I’ll start at reading her other books.
Like any romance reader I enjoy a good and simple romance story. But every once in a while I stumble onto a romance story that has a plot, interesting characters, and that doesn’t just jump into the love. Casimir and Artemis didn’t just fall in love. There was work to be done. Because of that this was one of my favorite romance novels of 2023.
Loved everything about this book. It started completely different than I expected but the journey was so worth it. The characters were fully developed and hilarious. They were so relatable and life like almost like watching a show or movie. I can’t wait to read book two and the rest of SM’s catalog. Cas is what I want and I loved that they both wanted and needed each other and got out of their own way. Great book
I truly loved this story. Caz and Temí were so perfect together and their relationship was truly evenly yoked. Their friends played the perfect secondary characters and were really there for each of them. This was a slow burn novel but it was worth the build up. Great job by the author
Yes, yes, YES! I am absolutely overjoyed with Casimir's story! He was such a male garden tool for so long, I wondered if he could be contained. Oh but this spirited little lady made him reevaluate a few things. Reading how the story unfolds was truly worth every moment. Loved it! 💖 Very well done Author Skye Moon!! 🔥
