Absolution bk1 Talk about jumping into a story. Well that's what I did with Absolution! I loved this action-driven story as Grant Masterson and his AI dog take down their first bounty.
Retribution bk2 This book was soooooooo much fun. A series of loosely tied together stories (or not too loosely.) The stories, tho they're definitely not high flutin literal works but like potato chips they're addictive as hell! So yeah grab the boxed set. And join Grant's team as he and his dog track down their next bounty.
Revolution bk3
As Grant Masterson and dog follow the clues that would clear his name of the deeds that he's been framed in. He finds that he's actually digging himself deeper into the conspiracy against him. He finds evidence and before he gets a chance to exonerate himself from the whole affair... he finds that it's been tainted and released to the public in such a way to make everything seem so much worse.
Vindication bk4
This book starts the action where the last book left off. And things go from bad to worse, for Grant Masterson. As he ends up in the worst penitentiary in the Galaxy! But he's got one of the best teams including his AI dog backing him up. You'll need to grab this action-driven series to find out how they take on the marshals, the navy, and the orchastrator of the conspiracy. And through it all Garrett Michael Brown gave us a perfectly nuanced performance.
Here's a couple of quotes, found in bk1, that amused me:
"Live robot sex, as if they didn't see the oxymoron inherent in the term."
"The chain linked fence was looming right in front of us, the pedestrian gate just a centimeter too narrow for our vehicle, metal scraped and polymer ripped the engine screamed and the whole vehicle shuttered until yanked free. Delivered like a baby through the birth canal or another orifice more scatalogical analogy that came to mind."
This series is the best I have read in quite a while. Great story, great characters, and a very interesting plot. All of the characters were interesting, but Dog was the best. Dog is a highly advanced, highly intelligent artificial intelligence (AI) packed into a robotic dog body. He is constantly being underestimated by everyone, much to his advantage. He is snarky and sarcastic and incredibly funny. For the record, I am not easy to laugh, but dog's dialogue was so funny at times that I was literally laughing out loud. I was glad that I was alone while reading this series. If you are prone to laughing I would caution not to read this series in public, because people might wonder what you're laughing at. Reading this series in a quiet library is not recommended. But I highly recommend this series. I would very much like to see these characters in another series. Rick Partlow is a great author, and I highly recommend his work.
To start you have a very mediocre Marshall falsely accused of something that got him drummed out of law enforcement. He is now a "not to bright" bounty hunter. Without Dog he would be dead or broke many times over. In the first book he, with a lot of help from Dog, basically saves a damsel in distress, in the second he meets a female Naval investigator that makes him look like a child playing at being a man. Then it has a long section that makes you think you are reading a romance novel. Got to be to disjointed and boring. A little consistency would have been nice for the MC. About the only thing consistent with the MC is he is not very good at his job, and has a robot dog that has no respect for him. I would not recommend this series.
I didn't expect this to be a thesis on scientific development over the next few hundred years and it isn't. It is an enjoyable read with well written characters and a decent entertaining story line to take you to the end. Yes, there are a few bits that test believability but compared to some books, this is excellent value for money. I don't give out spoilers writing reviews but will say, it's almost a wild West story in space with SO robots as supporting characters. If that appeals, read it and you will be happy.
While I could have gone a bit lighter on the use of swear language at times it wasn't too heavy but could have been lighter. The story itself was well done. Good suspense and good character development in each of the 3 books. I liked the stryline and how you kept guessing what would happen. A real twist at the end too. Nice build up till the end with each book having a good story of itself. Other than the language at times and one kind of out of place minor philosophical religion discussion oddity in book 3 this story was overall very well done and fantastic .
A journey humorous and fraught with danger, Star Bounty speeds across space from battle to battle, situation to main event . John Wick, Reacher, The Equalizer have a new hero to add to an impressive list. Grant Masterson, Space Marshall turned Bounty Hunter does not disappoint. I highly recommend this set to keep you up past your bedtime.
Robot dogs, bounty hunters and Navy Commanders are all in this series. Lots of fun with outer space and cyborgs, too. A love story along with a bunch of violence makes a great read for me.
Good series. Held my interest from beginning to end. No gratuitous sex or cursing. Just fun, fast paced, lively action. Good chemistry with the characters and plot lines. Would like to see more books in this series.
Aren't many books that will keep you up at night ? Read this one, it will. Action packed, full of unexpected twist and turns, you will be staying up to finish " just one more page". Go ahead, prove me wrong, I dare you.
I really enjoyed these books by Rick Parton. They were creative, descriptive, and most of all entertaining. Certainly recommended as a worthy spend of money and time. My only criticism is foul language which is never really necessary. David Schlosser
A great set of books. Cowboys, cyborgs, robot dogs and artificial intelligence. Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action. I look forward to more from this universe.
In this series all of the main characters are stand out super complex and flawed. I loved all of it, how Grant tries to clean up his language and control his temper and so much more. But for me the best of all was Dog. What a friend he is!
This one very entertaining space opera for sci to fans. I enjoyed the adventures and the story line the only criticism I might have is the descriptions were very limited and it would have been better to visualize how all the players looked.
There were many plot twists and turns. Enjoyed the characters. Still I would have liked to see more depth in character and world building. The story line kept me coming back but I was rushing back in anticipation maybe 35% of the time.
