Working with this lovely mobster might break me.
Because I'm pregnant with his baby.

I never should’ve slept with Angelo Fabbri.

It was one night with the sinner, one steamy, beautiful night, and I swore I’d never see him again.

He’s a mobster. I’m a lawyer. And now I’m pregnant with his child.

Everything I’ve worked for is in my burgeoning career, my relationship with my family, and my very safety.

Angelo’s a dangerous man. He’s chaos and pain in a custom suit. If that crazy gangster finds out that I’m pregnant, he’ll never let me get away.

But when his boss comes to me with a case I can’t turn down, I find myself working closely with Angelo to free one of their innocent brothers from spending life in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.

This is insanity. Every time I’m around Angelo, I’m reminded why I gave myself to him to begin with. He’s lust, he’s need, he’s desire, and I’m spiraling closer and closer to him as we rush deeper into this case together.

When he finds out the truth, I’m finished, but at least it’ll be a lovely demise at the hands of this beautiful killer.

Welcome to Lovely Beast! Angelo and Sara are polar opposites, but they’re oh-so-steamy together! Watch as love nearly breaks them to pieces as they overcome their issues and accept what feels right. As always, Lovely Beast is a standalone, full-length romance with no cheating and a happily-ever-after guaranteed. Enjoy!

Sara is an uppity judgemental witch. I can't stand her and the way she always pushed away Angelo for most of the book. She is a stuck up lawyer, thanks to her upbringing, but she's a grown woman who should know better when to see things for what they really are. I can't believe her selfishness for hiding her pregnancy. Angelo has been loyal to her since day one and yet because he's a mobster, Sara thinks he's not good for their baby and he shouldn't be around. Why would she even decide on that alone and take Angelo's right to know about his kid?

Her pushing and judging him lasted up to 84% of the book. I almost threw my kindle cuz I'm fuming! What an asshole, selfish, and frustrating character she is. I don't even know why Angelo would stick for her when she only belittled him all throughout the book. She made him feel low and less just because he works for an organized crime. Even her parents looked at him like he's a fly they want to swat or like he's a rat from a sewer.

Normally, I like the books of this author. But this one is straight up bad and I can't even believe I was able to finish it. I hated the FMC and I can't believe the MMC for staying and fighting for her. She did come around eventually at the 85% of the book. But the last 15% isn't enough to make up for the awfulness of the majority of this story. I should give a tap to myself for enduring this atrocity.

Sara is a bad lawyer. Don't be like Sara.

For real though, the general premise, the initial setup, immediately grabbed my attention. Our girl here has a one-night stand with some mafia guy and it resulted in a surprise pregnancy. Fast forward nine weeks later, they got back together again to solve a case where an innocent guy was framed for a crime he didn't do.

I mean, I don't really like the secret pregnancy/baby trope but sometimes I just want to torture myself. This one? It just further solidified my stand on this trope. I hate it. Fuck, this woman is so stupid. The plot is stupid. The guy was kinda okay. The baby trope is far stupider.

I hate it.

DNF around 68%

Its not terrible, but I just don't have the patience to deal with this relationship conflict. Sara isn't overly likable and Angelo loves to rile her up. I have noticed with some authors, who have pregnant heroines during the story, that they never have the heroines exhibit any pregnancy symptoms. I get that pregnancy is different for everyone.... but she had zero symptoms...

I might revisit this story later but for now I just don't have the care to read about them anymore. Sara is door mat to her parents and is cruel to Angelo.

Angelo & Sara

I got through this book by skimming. I really wanted to see how long she waited to say she was pregnant. I waited to see some happiness there is some at the end only. She is pregnant the whole book and not one dr appt is mentioned, actually it wasn’t like a pregnancy troupe at all. The mafia spin was really dirty cops and some mafia talk about familia. Angelo actually was a okay character. Sara was boring and whiny and mean and her parents we worse. There wasn’t chemistry in any relation ship except toward the end with Robyn. And there is mention of spicy time but nothing to give you butterflies. It was my first for this author. And I just thing the writing isn’t my style.

It’s a no from me dawg. . . . .

This felt like a police/murder mystery and not a mafia romance.

Also, rule #1 with mafia books — THE HERO CANNOT GET BEATEN UP. He looked like a wimp, and he didn’t even carry a gun?! wtf.😑😑

The heroine was obnoxious. She is a LAWYER and still has her parents deciding what to do with her life, who she can date, and what to do with her baby. Also, she made our poor hero feel like crap for his lifestyle. He was very self conscious and thinking he was a loser. She wanted to keep him away from their baby because she “didn’t want the baby to have a criminal for a father” Angelo deserved better than her.

I felt very little chemistry and the sexy scenes were just mehhhhhh.

Also, the dad outing her pregnancy and saying the word “squirted in” 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮 was MAJOR CRINGE.

3.75stars- LOVELY BEAST is the second instalment in BB Hamel’s contemporary, adult DARK MAFIA erotic, Mafia romance series set in the author’s Beautiful Corruption world. This is attorney Sara Bray, and Mafioso Angelo Fabbri’s story line. LOVELY BEAST can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sara and Angelo) LOVELY BEAST follows in the wake of a sexual encounter between attorney Sara Bray and Angelo Fabbri at Carmine and Brice Scavo’s wedding (Beautiful Corruption). Nine weeks will pass, Sara will discover she is pregnant, and Carmine has demanded Sara represent one of his younger ‘associates’. Twenty-one year old Nicolas Cavallo has been set up, charged with the murder of five members of the Mexican Cartel, and someone is covering up important information. What Sara never expected was to come face to face with Angelo Fabbri, Carmine’s friend and fellow mobster, and the man who is the father of Sara’s unborn child. Sara wants nothing to do with our story line hero but Sara needs help, and at every opportunity Sara continues to push Angelo out of her life. The deeper Sara and Angelo continue to dig, the bigger the target upon both of their backs, and when Sara’s life is threatened, Angelo knows it is time to step up and face the people responsible. What ensues is the building but contemptuous relationship between Sara and Angelo, and the potential fall-out as corruption and fraud hamper Sara’s investigation and defence of an innocent man.

Sara Bray is a bit green (aka TSTL) when it comes to the world of organized crime and dirty cops, and Angelo must become guardian and protector of the woman who refuses to accept help from a man upon whom she looks down. Sara is a bit of a snob when it comes to Angelo Fabbri, quick to judge in the face of his criminal activities, and refuses to allow her child to be raised by a member of the mob. Sara is also spineless when it comes to taking back control from her interfering parents, parents who pull Sara away from Angelo, and into the direct line of fire. Angelo Fabbri never had an easy life having lost his parents at an early age but Mafia don Carmine Scavo saw something in a younger Angelo Fabbri, something no one else was willing to mold.

The relationship between Angelo and Sara begins as a brief encounter at Carmine and Brice’s wedding, an encounter Sara was hoping to forget but a surprise pregnancy meant desperately keeping secrets from her friends and the father, a secret that is about to implode leaving Sara wondering where everything went wrong. As Sara and Angelo tentatively work together to free Nicolas Cavallo, someone else is waiting to take them down. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters include Nicolas Cavallo; Carmine and Brice Scavo; Sara’s parents, her friend Robyn, as well as several members of law enforcement and the chief of police.

LOVELY BEAST is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, dysfunctional family behavior, corruption and authority, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and engaging but the conflict resolution was too easy and uncomplicated; the characters are desperate and dynamic; the romance is passionate and seductive.

While at the wedding and a couple drinks in she met Angelo Fabbri a very dark and handsome man. They were attracted to each other, she lower her guard and give into the attraction. The two ended up spending the night together and a couple weeks later she found out that she was pregnant with his child. Thinking that she will never see him again she decided that she will keep the pregnancy to herself. However, things doesn't always work out the way how we plan. When Love and Honesty Wins -
Sara had been brought up with the mindset that she had to live her life a certain way, which included how she should act in public, her education, her job and the type of person who would be suitable marriage material. Unfortunately, she felt drawn to mafia member, her best friend was married to a Don and she agreed to represent an alleged mafia criminal, when she she wasn’t a criminal attorney.

Angelo was happy being single, so he couldn’t understand the pull he felt towards Sara and this only got worse after they had their tryst at the wedding. As luck would have it, they had to spend time together whilst trying to solve the case Sara was working on, which led them to embark on immense pleasurable moments. Unfortunately, chaos ensues as they make discoveries pertaining to the case and Sara’s life changing secret is accidentally revealed.

Th ruckus caused by the interference by a third party and the revelation of the Sara’s secret, created friction in their budding relationship, but Angela’s perseverance and Sara’s determination gave them the confidence to fight for not only their happily ever after, but also positively resolve the criminal case. Once I start reading the story, I felt like I was living in their world as I turned the pages. It is a definite must read book. I really don’t know why B. B. Hamel books haven’t been turned into a drama series yet, because it sure as heck will be an addictive series.

I’ve been loving the last couple books BB has put out that are based in Dallas, Brice & Carmine were amazing & I adored Ford & Kat. So I was excited (like I always am to read anything by BB) to read Lovely Beast, but I honestly didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I loved the trope- mafia, secret baby- but I didn’t like Sara at all. Angelo I was over the moon in love with! He was perfect, his dedication & loyalty to Carmine, how he protected & fought for those he loved, & his sad upbringing, but fierce love for his grandmom, it all made him the perfect guy. Sara, however I could not enjoy, like or connect with. Every second she was w/Angelo & refused to tell him she was pregnant was so wrong, & how she constantly referred to THEIR baby as HER baby, not Angelo’s but hers alone was disgusting & frustrating. She was determined to never tell him. He had every right to know, & she was so ignorant towards him, yet it was him she called when s*** went down at her apartment. I could’ve overlooked her behavior if it hadn’t lasted the entire book. She was constantly trying to please her parents, that she let their opinions dictate her life & her decisions, she didn’t have a mind of her own. Yet she was supposed to be a lawyer, but she couldn’t even fight or stand up for herself. She never even gave Angelo a chance, & that was unfortunate.
But as much as I did not like Sara, I loved everything else about this book! BB is truly an excellent writer & I recommend anything she writes!

“Lovely Beast” is an enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract, dark Mafia romance by B. B. Hamel. This story about the Scavo Famiglia follows a book called “Beautiful Corruption”, but it can be read as a standalone story.

Sara has always been a ‘good girl’ who always does the right thing. She’s even a lawyer, wanting to fight for justice whenever she can. It’s a lot for her to deal with when her best friend marries a man who is a Mafia Don. At the wedding, she shocks herself by being fiercely attracted to Angelo, a bad boy in attendance. Even more uncharacteristically, she has a quick tryst with him, never thinking she’d see him again. He’s very content with his bachelor life and is startled by how strongly he feels towards Sara. Their encounter has a lasting dividend, and she finds herself hired by her friend’s new husband to defend someone charged in a multiple murder case – with Angelo as her assistant. There is a lot going on, but all the pieces come together in the end.

This is a steamy story with an array of interesting characters. Sara and Angelo must overcome a lot of dangerous obstacles on their path to a happy ending, and they learn a lot about themselves along the way.

*unpopular opinion*

This book had so much potential. I enjoyed the whole story line but I hated Sara.

She was naive in a stupid way. She was whiny and clueless. There was just something about her that I just couldn’t gel with.

Angelo was a typical gangster. He was a likeable character and you could understand his background etc.

They are opposites in every way.

While I enjoy BBH books, I felt maybe this one was a bit rushed. The heroine is pregnant, yet she’s drinking wayyyyy to much coffee. She’s going at “life” like someone that isn’t pregnant. Also, how her dad found out about her pregnancy just made me gag. The way Sara was talking about always doing the right thing yet her family hangs out with corrupt politicians and policemen etc. this girl has no clue what the right thing is but she’s judging Angelo and his way of life. Also, she was in over her head with the case and she acted like it. She appeared as this tough lawyer but she gave away all her evidence by blabbing. She could’ve made a huge name for herself and I would’ve respected her for it but she didn’t. Every time she got some info she blabbed. Gosh I hated her.

I enjoy this author but this was not her best book for me.

Because I like the story line and Angelo. Sara and Angelo got ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely Beast is an enemies to lovers/surprise pregnancy dark romance. Sara and Angelo meet at a friends wedding and have a one nighter that leads to a surprise pregnancy. Sara ends up assisting Angelo in proving if one of Angelo’s men is innocent or not. Both were not expecting to see each other again.

Surprise pregnancy is a trope that I don’t read a lot of due to it not being a favorite but it works with this book!
I enjoyed the pacing of the book. It didn’t feel rushed or like it was dragging on unnecessarily. Sara is having to work through things not being black and white like she was raised to believe. The character growth she goes through is a great one to read. Angelo goes through some growth but not as much as Sara (this is not a bad thing). You can’t help but love Angelo’s filthy mouth around Sara.

Lovely Beast has a good balance of smut while still having a plot. This is not my first BB Hamel book and it definitely won’t be my last. The book is a stand-alone that is intertwined with Beautiful Corruption (I recommend reading that one first but is not required). I can’t wait to see how the “series” progresses.

This is a book I received from Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.

I rarely take time to actually write a review but, I had to for this one.

Gosh, Sara is absolutely insufferable! The only reason this book gets 2 stars is because Angelo is such a great character. He deserves so much better than Sara. The way she calls their baby “her” baby nearly the entire book and doesn’t even tell him she’s pregnant is gross. Not only does she not tell him, she never even struggles with telling him or not telling him, she just doesn’t tell him and continues to sleep with him and use him. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with a more unlikable FMC. She is a selfish, stuck up, judgmental, know it all who doesn’t deserve Angelo.

For the record…she is stuck in looking down on Angelo and thinking she’s better than him for 85% of the book. I kept reading just hoping she’d get better and she never did. Even when she finally did come around, she was going to let him move back to Philly and never even gave her moving any consideration. I don’t like that he had to uproot his entire life for her, she could’ve redeemed herself a little if she would have offered to move but, of course, she didn’t because she’s a selfish brat.

As a "good" daughter, Sara a new junior law associate has always been expected to act in a way that would not cause embarrassment to her surgeon father and alcoholic mother, so hooking up with Angelo was finally a way to do something for herself and just enjoy life for once. Weddings are known for being good as a meet and greet but then Sara finds out that she came away than more than the usual slice of Wedding Cake to remember her time with Angelo. After taking on an unexpected legal client, danger seems to find its way into her normally tranquil and boring life, so it turns out when Angelo is thrown back into her life, she is actually grateful for the safety he brings. Can Sara keep the fact that she is pregnant with his baby from Angelo as they seem to get closer as she starts to believe that she can finally break from the mold her parents have forced her into or is their hold too strong?.

Opposites Attract
Sara is a lawyer that has always tried to be a good girl and do everything her parents expected her to all her life. She meets Angelo a sexy Capo at her best friend’s wedding, He is everything her world despises. A mafia man that has done despicable things. For just one night she decides to cross to the other side and give in to their electrifying attraction for each other. She plans to never see him again. Then he ends up being her assistant when she takes a case to get his comrade out of jail. This is a captivating steamy enemies to lovers mafia romance which revolves around a lawyer, Scava Famiglia and dirty cops. Makes for a intriguing storyline. B.B. Hamel hit the mark again with this one.

I really enjoyed this one!! It is not a "have to" to be familiar with all the characters in this book, but for the best reading experience, you should have already enjoyed Beautiful Corruption (Carmine and Brice). Sara and Angelo are verry steamy together, and I was sad when I reached the end of this one.

This author has given us another addictive and engaging story - full of all the dangers, drama, intrigue and steamy scenes we want in a Mafia read. I could not stop reading once I began, and enjoyed this couple's HEA. This author consistently provides entertaining stories, and I recommend reading her other works as well.

Angelo and Sara have one unforgettable steamy night together while at her best friend's wedding. Sara is a lawyer and always does the right thing but the one night she becomes a bad girl it's with Angelo the Capo and then finds out later that she has a special little surprise coming. This is a mafia romance between two characters that come from different worlds but are so perfect for each other. Their chemistry was kindle melting hot. I loved Angelo but it took me a bit to like Sara. I find that to be a sign of a great writer if they can make me love or hate characters. The storyline held my attention from beginning to end and I look forward to reading the next B.B. Hamel book. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Lovely Beast by BB Hamel
4.5 stars rounded to 5

I’m no stranger to BB Hamel’s work, and I can honestly say I have never read a book by this talented author I never liked.

Lovely Beast is about two people who are polar opposite as any two people can be. But at one time this straight laced, do everything right girl, had a one off naughty time with the sexy bad boy looking hot guy. A one off affair, and they would go their own way. But even the best laid plans goes awry.

The push pull chemistry between these pair through this novel is entertaining. I love the characters, I love their their growth and I love that though their life experiences were different, there was also a commonality.

Good mafia romance approached in an original way
It's a good mafia romance in which the roles are reversed: where the mobsters investigate when the police do not act. This situation ties the heroine, Sara, a lawyer, to her contradictions. Who should she help? Who can she trust? Is pursuing the investigation with Angelo, the mobster for whom she has a very strong attraction, not contrary to her values?
In short, nothing is obvious in this story where one of the main characters is an anti-hero.
It's scorching from the start, full of twists and turns, and not always tender, but definitely thrilling.

trust yourself

Lovely Beast is book six in the series The Atlas Organization by author B.B. Hamel. So this one way intense and scorching hot. Angelo the MMC is an arrogant alpha male- yet with a bit of a soft side for those he considers family. Sea the MFC she’s - well she’s something else. She’s feisty and stubborn. Yet she’s also a bit damaged. Their storyline is complicated and filled with obstacles. It doesn’t help that Angelo is a gangster and actually the good guy and the supposed good guys are really (I would say villains but us BookTok girlies love villains) horrible characters. In the end everything is set to right and we get our HEA.
Enjoy!!

I liked it more than the first book but it was as frustrating as the first one. I liked a lot the plot and i had so much fun reading it but i think the main characters relationship was not ideal for me. It was frustrating to say the very least and i got tired of them being like immature adults and not put their heads out of their arses. They made a lot of decisions that could be easily avoided. I was very excited for this book but it let me down a little but i still enjoyed it. I don't think i have some interest to read a book of this universe but i diffenitely would read something else from B.B. Hamel!!!!!!!!!!!!!

welll that was a rollercoaster

ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTIONS. I legit threw the book(phone) because I was so mad at our girl at one specific point. Like the emotions! She’s supposed to be an Ice queen no emotions.

Turns out once the damn is broke it’s broke.

Don’t worry though angelo our MMC is the kindest mafioso man ever. Firm but always supportive and that’s literally what our girl here needed.

This is a Murder Mystery and a WhoDunit. It’s super good and everyone should read it.

***not atlas org main characters but it is Carmines second in command and Brice’s Best friend so you get that interaction a lot and same town/setting ***

I always enjoy BB's books, especially her Mafia romances.

A one-night stand leads to Sara and Angelo having a secret baby.

Sara wasn't expecting to sleep with Angelo, but hey, things happen, and she ends up pregnant. She planned to keep the baby a secret from him because she never thought she would see him again. Surprise! She ends up having to work with him on a case she takes on, and he helps her and also protects her.

These two really tried so hard to deny their feelings, but in the end, they just couldn't.

I really wish this one had more spice. I feel like lately, she hasn't been adding a lot of spice, and that is nothing to say about her writing, just a personal preference.

I can't wait to see what BB has in the works, and as always, I will continue to read everything she puts out.

"He purrs like a tiger on cocaine" - my favourite line

Absolutely loved Angelo & Sara's story. Their story is a perfect blend of enemies to lovers, suspense, drama & steam all wrapped up into a dark mafia romance with the added bonus of a secret baby. The dynamic between Angelo & Sara is what had me hooked from the very first page.
Will Sara & Angelo get their HEA or will outside threats destroy it all?.

This book is intense and full of heat. Sara and Angelo first meet when her best friend marries his Don. Their story is hot from the start as they have what is supposed to be a one night stand at the wedding. Sara never thought she would end up falling for a gangster when she is a lawyer working to uphold the law. Their story is full of surprises and action as they work together to try and get one of Angelo’s men out of jail when he was being framed. There is danger and corruption. You won’t be able to put this book down.

Angelo is a dangerous mobster, and he and Sara spent a steamy night together. Sara is asked to work together with Angelo, to prove the innocence of one of his brothers, from a crime which he did not commit. Angelo and Sara are complete opposites, but they complement each other perfectly. This is a well written action-packed story, with drama, danger, suspense, twists. intrigue, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy page turner.

Sara and Angelo -- beautiful! This was so good. The plot is a real nail-biter. Sara and Angelo have a one night stand at Brice and Carmine's wedding, which leads to the inevitable...pregnancy. Now Sara is embroiled in a legal case involving Mexican cartel, corrupt police, and the mafia. Angelo is her bodyguard/investigator, and occasional lover. Sara is in danger and terrified of everyone. Makes the reader wonder how it can possibly work out! Wonderful characters, both with difficult childhoods. Really great read!
