About the author

Heather Hancock writes Christian Contemporary fiction, and Poetry. Sister Lost is her award winning Christian contemporary novel self-published in 2023. She uses both fiction and poetry to address complex issues in creative ways. Heather was born very premature and has lived with Cerebral Palsy her entire life. As a follower of Jesus, and faith is a thread that weaves through all of her writing. Heather has three poems & two short stories published in the Coffee House Writers Volume 1: Nonfiction & Poetry, and Volume 2: Fiction Anthologies in 2020. Heather lives in Moose Jaw, SK, Canada.

Inspirational and Believable
Sister Lost, the debut novel by Heather Hancock, is a beautiful story of redemption, grace, finding love, letting go, and giving all things to the Lord. The story centers on Claire Langstrom, a workaholic nurse who grew up with an emotionally abusive mother. During the reading of her grandmother’s will, Claire learns that she has a twin sister. With the help of her attorney, Austin, Claire begins a journey to find her lost sister.

I found Sister Lost to be a turn-paging story. The characters are compelling and the story allows them to grow independently. Heather Hancock is a skilled author. Her book is captivating and engaging from start to finish. I appreciated the romance, faith, and solid message. The author masterfully weaves in true aspects of Canadian history and the horrible treatment of the disabled. The story is realistic and portrays people with real-life problems. The characters battle dark spiritual forces that are active in the world today.

Filled with life lessons, Sister Lost, is inspirational and believable. It is well worth the read.

This is a very captivating story by the debut writer Heather Hancock. Hancock’s style is so engaging and inspiring that I had a hard time putting the book down. And even after I finished reading the story, I kept thinking about it.

Through the story, the reader is sent on an emotional journey like no other. I love the Christian contemporary format for this type of story. It really works. It turns out to be a work of redemption.

Claire Langstrom has chosen a life of solitude. During this time, she embarks on a quest for self-discovery and healing when a surprising revelation arrives from her grandmother. It uncovers a lot of hidden secrets and unfortunately, a tragic history.

From the beginning, the story gripped me. It ignited in me an inquisitive mind and heart, wondering how the events of this story would unfold. Hancock incorporates lesser-known aspects of Canada’s history, shedding light on the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. This adds complexity to the story, making it an enriching read. What evolves is a powerful theme of hope and faith, which has a lasting impact. The story also prompts the reader to contemplate the steadfastness of God’s faithfulness and the indomitable spirit of humanity.

Hancock is a masterfully skilled writer. Because of this, her book is a deeply engaging read. It will take the reader on a journey like no other. I feel changed after reading this story, filled with hope.

I can’t wait to read Hancock’s next book. She is one of the best Canadian storytellers I have come across for a very long time. I have literally read thousands of Canadian books over the past decade. And Hancock’s story is one of the best because of the genre, topic and how she writes.

Heather Hancock's debut novel Sister Lost is an intriguing, awe-inspiring, thrilling and an emotional tale written around the search that follows a revelation in Claire's grandmother's will. Secrets are unveiled, and the path will lead to healing, acceptance, redemption and more.

What really is revealed in the will? What happens following that? Writing the story in parallel with the gripping history of how challenged people were treated during the dark ages is sure emotional and nerve-wracking.

I absolutely loved the author's style and the twists n turns, emotional roller-coaster ride are all well-written & captivating. The tale doesn't let us take a breather without finishing it. If you're looking for an intense and enticing journey, you have it with Sister Lost.

This story is intriguing. From the first chapter, I couldn't wait to read what would happen next. Heather integrates aspects of Canadian history of the challenges that disabled people face in the midst of a beautifully written story full of discovery and romance. I am not an avid reader, but I felt transported into the story, and couldn't put the book down. I read it in four days. I would recommend this book to anyone. It is very easy to read, the bigger font is very helpful for those of us who wear glasses, and reading it was like going on an amazing adventure with the main character. This was Heather's debut book. I am looking forward to the next one!

As an adoptive mom, I've watched my children wonder about their birth families. I've seen them wrestle through fears about the potential meeting. 'Sister Lost' is a masterful telling of the journey a sibling makes in order to pursue the possibility of relationship. The familial bond is deep; the similiarities uncanny. Heather Hancock also exposes the challenges that face those with physical mobility issues and how they've been courageously overcome despite some traumatic roadblocks due to wrongful assumptions. Heather has managed to bring awareness to CP, as well as create a captivating story and memorable characters.
