“Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks”
This book is one of those gentle kick-in-the-pants encouragements to watch what my heart is kindling for my mouth to speak. Lately, it’s not always pretty and this book and Sarah’s stories are exactly what I needed in my season of young motherhood. I needed the reminder to turn to the Word and fill my heart and mind with gospel truth so that it will overflow from my mouth towards my husband, my kids, and all those that I interact with.
I highly recommend this book!

Do you ever need HELP for guarding your tongue? Oh my! I love using my words, for motivation, for teaching, for encouragement, and even for sharing the Good News of Jesus — but (as the Bible so clearly warns) my words can often get me into trouble.
.
Right now, I’m listening to an advance copy of an amazing new soon-to-be-released book, WELL SAID* by my super-impressive youngest sister-in-law Sarah Molitor.
.
If you happen to know of Sarah from @modernfarmhousefamily — did you know we’re related? Yes, I’m quite proud of that fact. And my husband even feels he should get credit for matchmaking Tim & Sarah.
.
But I digress.
.
Point is that Sarah has written a wonderful book with @tyndalehouse publishers, about using life-giving words and seeking God’s help and grace for all the ways our words can hurt and cause pain.
.
I need this book, as we probably all do. And right now, I’m super-honored to be a part of Sarah’s book-promo team, so I’ll be sharing a bit, here and there, between now and the book’s early October release date.
.
WELL SAID* is available now, for preorder, and I’m looking forward to getting mine to hold in my hand (and to apply to my heart).

4.5🌟 a great book on using our words to glorify God and encourage and uplift others. each chapter talked about different ways we use our words and where our words spring from. The author was very real and used a lot of scripture, although there were some versions that she used that were not my favorite, like the Message and Passion. I especially enjoyed the chapters on using our words well in parenting and how our words can affect future generations.

"We All have a choice in how to respond to where God places us, whether that placement is short-term or long-term."

" Forward progress is progress"

" We are totally equipped to flourish yet many times we act helpless"

" it's important to understand that God made you you for a purpose. you cannot be replicated, and if you try, it will always be second rate to how God originally designed you. this concept applies to every area of our lives, including how we use our words."

" when I spend all my time trying to communicate like someone else instead of walking in who God made me to be, I'm discounting and disregarding his workmanship."

" everything God does is with intention, and His decision to speak the world into existence is no different. God could have chosen a series of hand motions to put everything into place, or He could have created everything through His thoughts alone. but He didn't. from the very beginning He chose to make words powerful."

let's not get so caught up in where we should be and what we should be doing that. we forget about where we are and what we can do right now.

" what we speak through any struggle usually has more impact than what we speak through the good times."

"Once We start to filter the unique voice that God gave us through the approval of people. instead of the approval of God, our voice loses effectiveness."

"You Don't have to attend every conversation. you are invited. to."

SO GOOD. I loved all of this - but specifically the part about speaking identity over people! The identity they find in Jesus, of course. I sometimes struggle with talking reactively or without a filter, typically with those I’m closest with. This book has so much wisdom on how to combat that and be as intentional as possible when speaking - if speaking is necessary in that situation. 🙌🏼🙌🏼

The message is a good one, however I felt that there was too much fluff and overpowered the point she was trying to make. As a self proclaimed chatterbox I don’t the think the author would think I’m way out of line by saying that she did indeed drown out her message by talking too much in her book! (I say this lovingly)

There were definitely a few sayings I’m taking away from this read.
1)She spoke in the beginning of how many of us are totally equipped to flourish yet act helpless.
2)I like how she reminded us that God created us to communicate in a way that only YOU can. Therefore you don’t need to change everything about yourself, just make sure you’re communicating in a God honoring way.
3)And one of my favorites was that you don’t need to participate in every conversation that you’re invited to. But I wouldn’t say this book really is saying anything new, just applying Biblical truths about your heart and controlling your words while applying that to experiences that have happened in the authors life.

There were a few things that felt a little too niche for a wide audience and a few parts felt out of place to me. For instance she talks bout how it’s important to teach your children good ways to communicate as well as picking their words well, which is a great point. But then she goes on to give a step by step example of how you can go do this with your young children. If you don’t have young speaking children then this seemed to drone on for a bit. She also had a portion where she was encouraging you on how to start your social media page and how to start sharing things with people. It felt unnecessary since I don’t think everyone who picked up this book is interested in doing this.

All in all aside from the young kid parts, I think this would be a great read for a young teen girl. I think they would find the authors personal stories to be engaging and insightful and would benefit from the portion where she makes suggestions on how to navigate conversations with strangers on social media.

Easily a 5 Star book!! Wow! This book was full of encouragement and conviction. Sarah offers vulnerable (and relatable!!) stories of not speaking well, and hope in stories OF speaking well. I love that she incorporates Scripture throughout, points us back to Christ, reminds us that, “My voice is not for my use, but for glorifying God and reflecting His love to those around me.” At the end, I loved that she included specific prayer prompts and scripture at the end!! Such a practical way to implement her book today! Sarah doesn’t just encourage you and then leave you wondering about how to speak well - she gives you practical tips and challenges.

One of my favorite quotes, “What I realize more and more, is that if I’m inclined to use my words to be that enthusiastic about a ‘thing…’ I also want to use my words in an enthusiastic and an honoring way to point others to God. Let’s share what we share and say what we say for THE One.”

Once I finished the book, I was ready to turn back to page 1 to read it again!! I highly recommend this book. Thanks, Sarah! Now off to be a “first rate me” and not a “second rate anyone else.”

This book didn't really say a lot that I didn't already know, but knowledge has a funny way of being buried in a haze until it is expressed, and Sarah Molitor did a good job of expressing those things so that I can be more aware of what I'm saying and why I'm saying it. I appreciated her use of scripture, personal experience, and practical applications.
I didn't always resonate with where she was coming from because she's a talkative and outgoing person and I'm naturally more shy and quiet, but I still got a lot out of the book and definitely recommend it, especially to wives and mothers who want to build up their families with their words.

This book reads like sage advice from a dear friend. Sarah is vulnerable and shares her story of redemption through the pages. Her authenticity mixed with biblical truth shares deep insight into how we ought to converse better. What flows from our lips is a reflection of our heart. I’d rather be well said/gentle instead of condescending/harsh. This book serves as a tool for those of us that need that extra fire under our bellies to make changes in the way we speak. As it is written, I would highly recommend this book to anyone; but it relates better to women.

This book is one I will pick up again and again. Sarah uses her own personal life stories to explain how our words can be used to hurt or bring life. I know that I've got work to do. I appreciate how (Sarah) Modern Farmhouse Family intertwines the Scriptures and Prayer into each chapter.

Amazing!! I loved Sarah’s children’s book, so I was excited about a grown-up book from her! I was not even a few pages into chapter one and felt as if she was speaking directly to me! Her transparency and encouragement makes the book helpful and a must re-read for me! I am finding myself be more aware of my words and that I want to choose my words wisely. Some of her real-life examples are stuck in my mind and I remember them often as I face situations. My main encouragement, go read her book!

This is a book that feels like you sitting down with a good friend after you share your discouragement with how you are talking and she sharing from her heart. This isn't a deep Bible study, but it is a wonderful starting point or even just some practical encouragement for along the journey.

I took way too long to finish this book, but looking back now at all the parts I’ve highlighted and underlined I’m reminded how much I loved it. It was full of challenging yet encouraging wisdom on speaking well and pointing people to Jesus with our words, especially our family or those closest to us who more often get to hear the “ugly” parts of us. I would definitely recommend!

In this book that encourages the reader to choose their words wisely, Sarah writes, “My voice is not for my use, but for glorifying God and reflecting His love to those around me…” Wow! That sentence jumped off the page and challenged me to think about what my words are meant to do! In a world where words, both written and spoken are quickly uttered without much thought, I believe this book will challenge the reader to consider how to use their words to glorify God. Packed with Scripture to guide the reader about what God says about how we use our words and the effects of our words on others, I can’t help but think that anyone who reads this book will not fail to come away changed in some small way. Thank you, Sarah, for writing LIFE-GIVING WORDS that this world desperately needs to hear!

I knew immediately I wanted to read this book based on the title alone… this is an area I, personally, desire to grow in. As Sarah also points out, words are something we all can use to love others well!

I was blown away by the breadth of this book. Yes, it is a book about using our words to encourage, but it covers a lot of ground from motherhood, marriage, social media, reading the Word to influence our words, and even how our God given communication style allows us to love and encourage others in a way specific to our gifting (that was my favorite section).

I highly recommend, and it would be especially relatable and valuable for other moms.

This wasn’t the most mind-blowing of personal development books I’ve read, but it caused me to really reflect on my current behaviors and the words that I use, especially with my children, husband, and with myself. Lots of wisdom to be found, and while the writing was a little bland, the principles are important. Good food for thought.

I’ve followed Sarah on Instagram for a few years, and given how much I’ve come to enjoy and learn from her platform, it was only natural that I wanted to read her book. The down to earth, relatable, kind and lovely wife/mother/person she is, is what drew me into the Modern Farmhouse Community. As someone in a similar stage of life (parenting young children) her Instagram is an incredibly inspiring and helpful space in the vast world of social media. I have always found her space inclusive. While Sarah is very open with her religious beliefs and takes the time to pray over her followers and share scripture and proverbs which are impactful to her, I’ve never felt preached at, or as if that element was her only message.

I’ll be fully honest and transparent, while I am someone who believes in God and has faith in my life, I am no where near as religious or as spiritual as Sarah is. While I can freely admit that Well Said is not a book I would have picked up without being a follower of MFHF, I am absolutely glad I did. The book is so incredibly helpful and relatable in terms of the power of words and the importance of speaking with intention.

It’s written in the same straight forward, easy going, relatable way that Sarah writes on her Instagram and Blog, and how she speaks to and interacts with her followers. It feels far less like a book, but rather more like a conversation you would have with a trusted friend. The book is very much rooted in spiritually and religion, with multiple elements of scripture and bible verses throughout all the chapters as they relate to the messages and personal stories that Sarah is sharing. While I personally did enjoy it, and found them helpful and inspiring, it’s probably not a book that would appeal to those with deep rooted feelings of atheism or negative thoughts/feelings toward religion. That being said, it is absolutely a book I enjoyed and would gladly recommend to others. At one point in Well Said, Sarah writes, “My mom once told me it’s possible to read a book and glean some sound wisdom from it her not agree with everything it says - and this has always stuck with me.” I feel this quote works quite well with this book. Even if the scripture/biblical elements aren’t your thing, there is still a lot of wisdom about speaking with intention, along with vein encouraging and relatable.

It’s an easy and enjoyable read, and one I highly recommend.

I just finished listening to an early audio copy of Sarah Molitor's book "Well Said" and I can't wait to get my hands on the physical copy that should arrive in the next day or two so I can dog-ear some pages and underline favorite words of wisdom.

If you have ever struggled with saying more than you meant to, responding with sharper words than was needed, or desire to get better at using life-giving words to build up or pour into others in your life, this book is for you.

Sarah digs into the impact of our words, both positive and negative, that flow from our mouths but ultimately our hearts, with honesty, wisdom, and authenticity. She encourages readers with honest and imperfect examples from her own life, scripture that guided her, plus advice and habits to better manage the words flowing out of us. She even digs into the impact of words as it applies to the challenges of social media. The author's faith and love shone throughout the book.

I believe this book has something for everyone, no matter where you fall in life's journey of taming the tongue and encouraging others. It held so many great reminders for me, causing me to pause the re-evaluate how I'm doing with my words lately and what I'm modeling for my children as a mother to two teens and a tween whose natural inclination is to let their words fly unfiltered.

Truth, encouragement, and practical help for all of us.

Sarah's words speak life into the pages of her first adult book. Who hasn't said the wrong thing at the wrong time? Who hasn't held their tongue instead of spewing unkind words? Who hasn't wished they could take back things they said in a conversation that was heated? Sarah is just like you and me, and I could relate to scenarios that she shared where maybe a pause before she spoke may have been appropriate. She beautifully weaves in scripture, honest struggles, and a bit of humor from her personal life while she gives practical applications for taming the tongue and honoring the Lord and others with the way we can use our words. I started putting into practice some of her very helpful strategies she mentioned and my junior high son noticed. He has Tourette Syndrome so firing words back and forth happen frequently. Sarah reminded me that I don't always need to respond. Seems simple but it has taken prayerful consideration to make a change for the better. We are all implementing strategies from her book and it has become a great source for our family. You will want to read this not just once, but multiple times.

If you know anything about the 5 love languages - mine happens to be words of encouragement/edification. I *struggle* (that’s an understatement) with controlling my tongue or even with saying the kind things I know I should take time to intentionally say, like a compliment or a word of edification, be it to a stranger or even more importantly my husband and children. In my opinion, a word “fittly spoken” with the intent to bless the recipient is a wonderful gift and often so much harder for us to give than a material gift, our quality time, or even our service - all of which we should lavish on those we love. I’ve learned a great deal of wisdom from scripture (thankful for the Holy Spirit, sanctification and years of growth) and it’s from that place of knowing God’s word intimately that I say the words our Almighty God has given Sarah are certainly FULL to the brim with HIS wisdom and they are words *worth reading*
I am learning so much through her words and already seeing little shifts in the way I am using my words.

I truly wish I had read this when my children were young! Such amazing advice on how to infuse light in their worlds by speaking about their special unique giftings that will stay with them forever. I think this book is for everyone, though, since it speaks volumes about how words can uplift, encourage and inspire change in every area of life. So many takeaways for me, personally-the way I speak to my favorite person (my husband), my adult children, my co-workers, strangers and basically everyone I encounter, in person and online. Sarah's book made me cry, laugh and relate to so many things in multiple ways. Her values align with mine, my motto is "we are here on this earth to help each other". I have seen how encouragement can change people, and I try to do that as often as I can. Reaching out and speaking through God's word can make such a beautiful difference in someone's life. I am so thankful Sarah wrote this book! I am the kind of person that soaks up enlightening books that make me a better person, and Sarah's book definitely does that for me!

If you’ve ever spoken to someone you loved and damaged them with your words, you will not only see yourself in this book, but also be called up to use your words to build others up in your life, increase your trust God, and also find that your attitude towards hard things changes. Packed full of scripture, Sarah encourages you through her own faith journey and how God took her repentance and turned her tongue into the life-giving woman she is today. I wish I had this book when I first got married- it’s a perfect gift for an engaged woman or newlywed- but ANY woman could benefit from reading this book. Sarah has a way of writing that brings you in and you won’t want to put it down to see what happens next. The challenges and prayers at the end of each chapter give you practical tools to apply what was discussed, and the Prayer Archive in the back is WORTH BUYING IT ALL ON ITS OWN! Thank you Sarah for this book and for being willing to share your story so other women can find freedom in this and see His glory in your story, and ours too.

As a mom, I found "Well Said" to be incredibly encouraging and convicting at the same time. Sarah Molitor shares her own vulnerable and relatable stories of times when she didn't speak well, but also offers hope through stories of how she has changed and stops to think about the words she uses with her husband and family/friends. I loved the Scripture references throughout the book, reminding us that our voices are meant to glorify God and reflect His love to those around us.

I was thrilled to see that Sarah included specific prayer prompts and scripture at the end of the book. It's such a practical way to implement what the book is all about!

I’m almost finished with "Well Said," and I will definitely be reading and listening to it many times! Thank you, Sarah, for this incredible resource. Now, I'm off to choose my words wisely and work towards being the mom and wife God wants me to be!

I’ve been a faithful follower of Sarah’s family on Instagram for years. I’m 57, but can I say that I want to be her when I grow up?!
Her posts are consistently encouraging, kind, and backed-up by her solid faith in Jesus! When I saw that she was writing a book, I knew I’d have to read it.
Her topic of using words wisely really resonates with me. I have 6 children, the youngest being 16. I know I’ve been guilty of using my words in the wrong way, especially in the process of discipline. I’ve come a long way, by God’s grace! Knowing that Jesus can redeem those misspoken words of the past is SO freeing. I’ve also felt compelled to ask forgiveness (again!) and have always received it.
This book will be such a blessing to so many moms, in their journey of parenting their children! Recommending it to all my young-mom (and older mom!) friends.
