In the year 2050, an 18-year-old amnesiac wakes up to a ruined world overrun by monsters.
Guided by an artificial superintelligence, a ruthless scientist unleashes hell on Earth to preserve only a fraction of humankind. Love and war await as the mysteries of this corrupt new world unfold!
Tomahawk Angel is available in print for the first time, written and drawn by celebrated creator Odysseas Theodoratos (aka Mangaka Ody), as part of the new collaboration between Dark Horse and Tapas.
INCREDIBLE art, some of the most beautiful drawings I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing. And the story?!? I’m so excited to finally figure out what it all means. Ugh 10/10 🕷️🗡️❤️🔥
Worth the wait! The world building is amazing with a phenomenal art style. I just want the volumes to be released faster. I want to start collecting them all :)).

7.3/10 Future. A person wakes up and realises that they have no memory of who they are or where. Things are not looking good. They become increasingly worse as they find out that the world is ruined and mostly populated by monsters.
The plot, at least in the beginning is nothing new, but it's well executed. We have a dynamic trio as leads. Their interactions are funny and that comedy brings a nice contrast to the horror of the situation.
I wanted a bit more world building. There are hints of something bigger happening behind the scenes and i guess in future volumes we will find out more about how and why we are where we are today. Still i think we should get a bit more development. It's a problem i have had with manga before. They are extremely fast paced, it took me about 20-25 minutes to read the whole volume, at the same time the story doesn't progress a lot. So it's good, i just wanted a bit more of that goodness.
The highlight is definitely the art. It's solid throughout and there are some great panels.
I didn't know anything about it and the reason i end up reading is that i met the creator at a comic con. We chatted a bit, i asked him about the plot and he gave me a brief summary. He didn't want to reveal to much, ah he wished the readers to experience everything whilst reading. I respect that. Got my signed copy and here we are. In retrospective i should have bought the second volume too.
This manga is an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. From the moment I caught wind of its creation, I was captivated by the author's passion and mesmerized by the captivating art style. Pre-ordering was a no-brainer, and upon diving into its pages, I was instantly hooked. This manga effortlessly blends thrills, horror, and mystery, delivering an unforgettable reading experience that left me craving more. There's simply nothing bad to say about this manga, every aspect is flawless. The artwork alone is enough to keep you entranced for hours, and when paired with the richly developed characters and intricate plot, it's pure magic. Plus, supporting such a talented and friendly artist is just the cherry on top. I'm eagerly anticipating volume two and can't wait to delve back into this beautiful and unique world. The blend of psychological drama, action, horror, and humor is expertly crafted, creating a narrative that sticks with you long after you've turned the final page. I wouldn't be surprised if Tomahawk Angel becomes animated one day, it's just that good.
This mangas post-apocalyptic world filled with monsters is a thrilling adventure from start to finish. The storyline keeps you on the edge of your seat, while the stunning artwork brings the monstrous creatures to life. The characters are making you truly care about their survival in this world. A perfect blend of suspense, action, and emotion this manga deserves every bit of its 5 star rating.
A must read guys! This is for any fan of apocalyptic mangas/comic.
I really enjoyed this manga! The art is spectacular and made me itch to pick up a pencil and draw again. It reminds me of Battle Angel Alita in ways, which is my all time favorite manga. I read it through the Libby app but I will definitely be purchasing my own copy soon!
I've come across this manga from Instagram and I just HAD to read it. The art style is breathtakingly gorgeous and the plot is very entertaining, I can't wait to get my hands on volume 2
If you enjoy reading manga like Chainsaw Man, you’ll definitely enjoy this. I managed to read it all in one day and I am excited to see how far this goes.
I first saw some artwork on Instagram from the author, and immediately fell in love with the idea. When I saw he was publishing a series, I knew what to look forward to.
The author is very interactive on Instagram, and interactive with his followers and fans.
Story-wise I’m hooked. There was an equal balance of humor, seriousness, and mystery. I can tell Val has a lot to learn, and I’m excited for her character development.
All in all, I am happy with what I’ve read, and itching for the next volume!
I am a lover of all things manga as I am a comic artist myself so I really enjoy seeing other artists venture out and create a story of their own. Supporting one another is crucial in this industry. However, I read this book twice and for the life of me, I can’t wrap my head around how poorly this was executed. The art initially looks impressive until you look thoroughly at the lack of consistency, rigid anatomy, and unappealing character design. It’s a blatant rip off of Tokyo Ghoul mixed with Attack on Titan elements and a sprinkle of Gantz. It’s one big webtoon in book form with no originality. I have yet to see this artist attempt a style of his own because I truly believe he has the drive and potential, but it has not been unfolded. The story is honestly the real problem here. It’s so incredibly tone deaf and I don’t think he understands his own characters and who they are. There is so much happening all at once that there is no cohesion between plots. It’s like you’re rushed into a whirlwind of situations that don’t actually capture your attention. I struggled to get through this story, hoping for it to end. There is absolutely no structure. I felt that there was no soul; just a creation for clout or to just put something out into the universe of social media. A first manga, comic, graphic novel, what have you, should completely engulf the reader and display something magical. I was bored and uninspired. I say all of this not out of malice, but as someone who strives for the same dream. This is not Berserk, this is not Fullmetal Alchemist. This story is for kids who don’t know any better, kids who don’t know what real manga is and what a good story should be. I wish the artist the best, but I hope for his future to search inside of himself to find out what he is really trying to say with his stories, with his characters.
There are monsters, and we don't know how. That's...about all we get in this first volume.
Amnesia is not my favorite plot trick. It has its uses, god knows, but it's just so vague and I think it should only be used briefly, not as the setup for a whole thing. I understand it's helpful because then we, the reader, can have everything explained like we're idiots, and it still feels sort of natural. But I think I'd prefer an alternative method more often.
You know what I would like, though? A machine that would cause you to forget specific books or TV shows or whatever. Then you could watch them again for the first time! Wouldn't that be great?
I mean, sometimes it would suck, because sometimes I think I'd like the memory of watching something more than watching it again. But DAMN would it be handy if you cheated and watched a new episode of Bake Show before your partner.
What's the protocol for you all in that scenario? I'm of the "just fess up" school of thought. It's really not THAT big a deal, it's not like I'm going to be furious or anything. I'd rather you just tell me you had a moment of weakness and watched a show without me rather than pretending like everything is happening for the first time. OR, the only other option, you must never admit you watched it before. Never, ever. Those are really the only two choices.
Tomahawk Angel is an absolute masterpiece! From the stunning city designs to the captivating story and especially the jaw dropping artwork, every aspect of this comic is top notch. The art truly brings the characters and world to life, immersing readers in a visually stunning experience.
The story is gripping and kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Each page is filled with excitement, mystery, and unexpected twists that leave you craving more(Yummmmy lol). Oh oh And the monster designs? They're downright incredible! The creativity and attention to detail put into each creature is unmatched, making them truly unforgettable and unique. Oh man wow.
I cannot wait to dive back into the world of Tomahawk Angel in one month and see where the story takes us next. This is storytelling at its finest, for real! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new manga to read.
two stars only for the art. the art is amazing. it looks like the artist truly gave his soul into this creation. the story is.... questionable
the characters are flat. nothing really going on with them. everyone is exactly what they seem. the way the characters react to certain events is not how any person would react. in some instances the monsters even wait for the characters to finish their dialogue before they attack. kortex would work as a great twist villain but it's not. we don't know exactly what they're doing. we don't know their motives besides "power" which they don't even explain how they get it from the whole situation, and even though they're supposed to be this big villain which pretends to be good but is actually evil, not even for a moment does the manga give us the impression that they're good. every single character calls them evil. there is really no suspense about it.
First of all, the art, amazing, really detailed with almost each panel like an illustration really but not too confusing that it all of it is still pretty clear that you can easily understand the actions and movement and really keeps the flow, I flipped through a lot of action and it turns out it's been like 5 pages hahahha, really great pacing imo
I like the story that it's not essentially just all around "dark", it has a shonen or should I say, positive take on it, this is a personal preference so you can ignore this, but I like fictions were it's not just overly gloomy (without an essentially good reason), and rather repetitive in downhill, I like to read that knowing at the end, the struggle will end with a reward, but again, that's just a preference
I recommended/lent volume 1 to my friend who likes gore stories and he seems to enjoy it too, so I am looking forward to more!
I haven’t read many manga, but the moment I saw this one, I wanted to read it right away! A dystopian world, set in Greece in 2050, where monsters appeared out of nowhere and destroyed everything. There might even be a scientist somehow involved behind it all… 👀
Our heroine wakes up with no memory and is immediately thrown into intense situations!
I won’t spoil anything… All I’ll say is that Odysseas' talent is amazing! The artwork, the mood, the world-building — everything is spot on. One touch I especially liked was the sense of humour that shines through, despite the hardships the characters face.
Even though I’m not very familiar with the art of manga, I’ve watched plenty of anime, and I can confidently say that this work is on par with the genre, even compared to titles that come straight from Japan.
Hats off to the talent and achievements of the Greek mangaka, Odysseas Theodoratos! 👏🏼
(Tapas reader) Trust me, if you liked Volume One, Volume Two is a game-changer! You're gonna love it. You can't imagine how much stuff is happening in just one volume. By far, Volume Two is what 'Tomahawk Angel' really is. Also, the art ... if you liked the art from Volume One, Volume Two's art is like a HUGE upgrade. It was already freaking good so I don't know how Ody managed to make the second one even better. THIS IS CRAZY !!!
The artwork is nice and the plot I found someone interesting though I don’t know why it just didn’t really work for me for whatever reason this seems like some thing it should’ve really liked though I just found it to be kind of OK I am interested enough to read the rest I’m not really in a big hurry. Maybe once I find out more about the story later volumes I’ll be more invested it’s not a bad first volume so I just found it to be very OK.
An amazing manga filled with intense emotions and stunning artwork. Odysseas's storytelling and illustrations are gripping. The drawing inspiration from Alita Battle Angel and Tokyo Ghoul while bringing a fresh perspective. The rage scenes are incredibly powerful capturing pain and anger with every stroke. Despite the dark tone there are moments of dark humor that add depth. This manga is deserving a spot on your bookshelf.
A solid new manga set in Greece in the new future. A girl with no memory wakes up in a world overrun by Kaiju. We find out what's happening as Valerie does. I was intrigued. Seems like a combination of Kaiju and maybe a Resident Evil type thing. The art was much better than a lot of mangas I've checked out as well.
This series is amazing! The deep mysterious story hooked me and the stunning Berserk level art style is incredible. The scary vibe adds to its charm. I highly recommend reading these two books. The excitement keeps building and the artist keeps impressing. This series has a bright future if it gets the support it needs.
I have a hard time with Japanese humor in anime and manga. I dunno it’s rarely funny and always seems out of the blue and completely unnecessary in the moment. I really don’t see how it adds value to the story, and I understand it’s just my opinion.
I do like the premise of the story and the art is pretty cool as well. I do believe the scoring on this is a bit inflated though 3.2-3.4
A very strong start for an aspiring mangaka! If you love manga like Tokyo Ghoul or Attack on Titan, you might want to pick up Tomahawk Angel.
Aside from some minor nitpicks, this was a blast to read. Odysseas' illustrations are an absolute pleasure to look at, I stopped at every page just to admire the level of detail and skill poured into each panel. While post-apocalyptic stories are a tale as old as time, the premise and monster designs are very interesting, and the story playing out in Greece is a breath of fresh air. I am very excited to see how the plot unfolds!
